Novel peptide-fentanyl analogue conjugates were synthesized by the covalent coupling of carfentanyl derivatives to the C-terminus or N-terminus of the conformationally constrained dermorphin tetrapeptide BVD03 via a chemical linker.The carfentanyl-related analogues displayed distinct binding and functional activities atμ/δopioid receptors(MOR/DOR)and antinociceptive effects when conjugated to the peptide.The most potent compound,SW-LJ-11,displayed mixed MOR/DOR agonist properties in the low nanomolar range and significant analgesic efficacy in vivo in four classic mouse models of pain.Interestingly,SW-LJ-11 did not exhibit any physical dependence or respiratory depression,in contrast to an equipotent analgesic dose of morphine or BVD03,indicating that the use of opioid peptide-fentanyl analogue conjugates as dual MOR/DOR agonists may be a promising strategy for obtaining safer opioids.

Dear editor,Gait training has been proved effective for recovery of walking ability for nerve injury patients caused by stroke, spinal cord injury(SCI), traumatic brain injury(TBI), etc. The traditional gait training methods, usually carried out by hands, are laborious and time-consuming, and hence, the training intensity is difficult to be maintained and the rehabilitation results are not satisfactory.

Cytochrome P4501A(CYP1A),one of the major CYP subfamily in humans,not only metabolizes xenobiotics including clinical drugs and pollutants in the environment,but also mediates the bio transformation of important endogenous substances.In particular,some single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)for CYPIA genes may affect the metabolic ability of endogenous substances,leading to some physiological or pathological changes in humans.This review first summarizes the metabolism of endogenous substances by CYPIA,and then introduces the research progress of CYPIA SNPs,especially the research related to human diseases.Finally,the relationship between SNPs and diseases is discussed.In addition,potential animal models for CYPIA gene editing are summarized.In conclusion,CYP1A plays an important role in maintaining the health in the body.

One-pot Hydrothermal Synthesis of Novel NiCoO2/Reduced Graphene Oxide Composites for Supercapacitors

Novel NiCoO2/rGO composites with a structure of NiCoO2 nanoparticles anchored on layers of reduced graphene oxide（rGO） were synthesized via a simple one-pot hydrothermal method and were used as faradaic electrodes for supercapacitors. The microstructures of NiCoO2/rGO composites were characterized by means of field emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM）, transmission electron microscopy（YEM）, X-ray diffraction（XRD） and thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）. When acting as faradaic electrodes for supercapacitors, NiCoO2/rCK） compo- sites exhibited a specific capacity of 288 C/g at the current density of 2 A/g and maintained 139.98 C/g at 20 A/g. High capacity retention ratios up to 88% could be achieved after 1000 cycles at a current density of 2 A/g. The out- standing cycling stability was primarily attributed to the combination of mixed transition metal oxides and rGO, which not only maintains a high electrical conductivity for the overall electrode but also prevents the aggregation and volume expansion of electrochemical materials during the cycling processes.

Structure and Dynamics of Confined Polymer Melts from Attractive Interaction to Repulsive Interaction Between Polymer and Smooth Wall

We studied the static and dynamic properties of unentangled polymer chains which have a variable strength of interaction with the confining smooth walls by means of the lattice Monte Carlo simulation based on the bond-fluctuation model, that is, investigated the wall-polymer interactions which systematically vary from attraction to repulsion. A critical value of attractive potential（ewe） is found to be -0.6kilT, and only below it can the adsorption layer of monomers be formed near the wall. At the critical point of attraction ewe, attractive interaction counterba- lances the wall-polymer excluded volume effect, which minimizes the confinement effects on both chain dimension and mobility. Influences on both chain dimension and mobility increase with the increasing of either attraction or repulsion imposed by the walls. Despite of the nature and strength of the wall-polymer interaction, with the decrease of film thickness, configurations more parallelly aligned and flattened are adopted by confined chains, and a systematic trend of deceleration is found. Variations of chain dynamics with both film thickness and wall-polymer interaction can be well explained by the corresponding changes in the confinement of the nearest-neighboring particles that surround the chains. Besides, the thickness of the interfacial layer inside polymer films, where chains adopt a flattened ＂pancake＂ shape, is about two times the bulk radius of gyratioia and independent of the wall-polymer interaction.

Synthesis of spherical nano-ZSM-5 zeolite with intergranular mesoporous for alkylation of ethylbenzene with ethanol to produce m-diethylbenzene

Catalytic synthesis of m-diethylbenzene(m-DEB)through alkylation of ethylbenzene(EB)may be a promising alternative route in comparison with traditional rectification of mixed DEB,for which the top priority is to develop efficient and stable heterogeneous catalysts.Here,the spherical nano-ZSM-5 zeolite with abundant intergranular mesoporous is synthesized by the seed-mediated growth method for alkylation of EB with ethanol to produce m-DEB.The results show that the spherical nano-ZSM-5 zeolite exhibits better stability and higher alkylation activity at a lower temperature than those of commercial micropore ZSM-5.And then,the spherical nano-ZSM-5 is further modified by La_(2)O_(3) through acid treatment followed by immersion method.The acid treatment causes nano-ZSM-5 to exhibit the increased pore size but decreased the acid sites,and subsequent La_(2)O_(3) loading reintroduces the weak acid sites.As a result,the HNO_(3)-La_(2)O_(3)-modified catalyst exhibits a slight increase in EB conversion and DEB yield in comparison with unmodified one,and meanwhile,it still maintains high m-DEB selectivity.The catalyst after acid treatment achieves higher catalytic stability besides maintaining the high alkylation activity of EB with ethanol.The present study on the spherical nano-HZSM-5 zeolite and its modification catalyst with excellent alkylation ability provides new insights into the production of mDEB.

Effects of mechanical boundary conditions on thermal shock resistance of ultra-high temperature ceramics

The effects of mechanical boundary conditions, often encountered in thermalstructural engineering, on the thermal shock resistance（TSR） of ultra-high temperature ceramics（UHTCs） are studied by investigating the TSR of a UHTC plate with various types of constraints under the first, second, and third type of thermal boundary conditions. The TSR of UHTCs is strongly dependent on the heat transfer modes and severity of the thermal environments. Constraining the displacement of the lower surface in the thickness direction can significantly decrease the TSR of the UHTC plate, which is subject to the thermal shock at the upper surface. In contrast, the TSR of the UHTC plate with simply supported edges or clamped edges around the lower surface is much better.
