Recent Advances in Pd-Catalyzed Reactions Involving the “On-Water” Mechanism

As the chemical industry grapples with the need for more eco-friendly practices,the use of water as a reaction medium is gaining attraction in organic *** mini-review delves into Pd-catalyzed reactions that utilize the "on-water" mechanism,spanning from 2019 to late *** reactions are neatly categorized into several types: (A) Catalytic C—H activations,(b) Mizoroki- Heck-type reactions,(C) Suzuki-Miyaura reactions,and (D) Cyclization *** showcasing the potential of water as a sustainable reaction medium for organic transformations,these reactions leave no doubt about the importance of embracing eco-friendly practices in the chemical *** Scientists In 1980,a seminal work by breslow et *** an acceleration of reaction rate in the Diels-Alder *** and co-workers noted a significant increase in the rate of the [2σ+2σ+2π] cycloaddition of quadricyclane and dimethyl azodicarboxylate (DMAD) when the reaction was conducted in water,as opposed to when it was carried out in organic *** term "on-water" was then coined to describe this *** strategy was further expanded to transition-metal catalyzed transformations by Ackermann in ***,Varma and Leazer disclosed a Pd-catalyzed Mizoroki-Heck type arylation of alkenes with diaryliodonium salts “on-water”.The enantioselective version of "on-water" process was not realized until 2014 by the Zhou *** on,the Schaub group described a Pd-catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction of electron-poor aryl chlorides with water,using only 50 ppm of catalyst *** recently,Liu and Lin extended the "on-water" strategy to Pd-catalyzed double Mizoroki-Heck *** mini-review has focused on Pd-catalyzed reactions involving the “on-water” mechanism.

An effective strategy of constructing multi-metallic oxides of ZnO/ ConiO_(2)/CoO/C microflowers for improved supercapacitive performance

In this work,a new ZnO/ConiO_(2)/CoO/C metal oxides composite is prepared by cost-effective hydrothermal method coupled with annealing process under n_(2) ***,the oxidation-defect annealing environment is conducive to both morphology and component of the composite,which flower-like ZnO/ConiO_(2)/CoO/C is *** from good chemical stability of ZnO,high energy capacity of ConiO_(2) and CoO and good conductivity of C,the as-prepared sample shows promising electrochemical behavior,including the specific capacity of 1435 C·g^(-1) at 1 A·g^(-1),capacity retention of 87.3%at 20 A·g^(-1),and cycling stability of 90.5%for 3000 cycles at 5 A·g^(-1),***,the prepared ZnO/ConiO_(2)/CoO/C/nF//AC aqueous hybrid supercapacitors device delivers the best specific energy of 55.9 W·h·kg^(-1) at 850 W·kg^(-1).The results reflect that the as-prepared ZnO/ConiO_(2)/CoO/C microflowers are considered as high performance electrode materials for supercapacitor,and the strategy mentioned in this paper is b.nefit to prepare mixed metal oxides composite for energy conversion and storage.

bastnaesite((Ce,La,Pr,nd)CO_(3)F) is a significant light rare earth mineral found in nature,known for its fine-grained *** is commonly employed for the recovery of fine-grained bastnaesite *** serve as an essential flotation reagent that enhance the surface hydrophobicity of target minerals.A novel collector,n-hydroxy-9-octadecenamide(n-OH-9-ODA),was synthesised in this study.n-OH-9-ODA exhibits superior selectivity compared to the traditional collector oleic acid in the flotation separation of bastnaesite and *** experimental and co mputational results indicate that n-OH-9-ODA exhibits superior selectivity due to its higher adsorption affinity for bastnaesite surface compared to fluorite *** zeta potential and the b.nding energies of the Ce 3d peaks in the X-ray photoelectron spectrum(XPS) of bastnaesite surface exhibit significant ***,fluorite surface demonstrates minimal alterations in its zeta potential and the b.nding energies of the Ca 2p peaks in its XPS after its interaction with n-OH-9-ODA.

Super absorb.nt resin(SAR)is prepared by aqueous high temperature polymerization using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(HPMC)as monomer backb.ne material,acrylic acid(AA)and acrylamide(AM)as the graft copolymer monomer,potassium persulfate(KPS)as the initiator to generate free radicals,and n,n`-methylenebisacrylamide(MbA)as cross-linking agent for cross-linking ***,the influence of individual factors on the water absorption is investigated,and these factors are mainly AA,AM,KPS,MbA,HPMC,and reaction *** optimized conditions are obtained by the experiment repeating for several *** water absorption multiplicity and salt absorption multiplicity under the conditions are 782.4 and 132.5 g/g,***,the effects of different temperatures and salt concentrations on its water absorption,as well as the swelling kinetics of SAR are *** is indicated the water-absorb.ng swelling process is mainly caused by the difference in water osmotic pressure and na+concentration inside and outside the cross-linked molecular structure of the resin,which is not only consistent with the quasi-secondary kinetic model,but also with the Fick diffusion model.

Processing of a low-costγ-γ'niPtAl coating with improved oxidation resistance

A novelγ-γ'(ni solid solution—ni_(3)Al)niPtAl coating was produced on advanced single-crystal(SC)superalloy n5 by electroplating of a thin Pt coating with~3μm in thickness followed by heat treatment at 1000℃in *** comparison,a traditionalγ-γ'niPtAl coating was also produced by electroplating of a thick Pt coating with~6μm in thickness followed by heat treatment at 1100℃in *** novel coating has a mass gain of~0.5 mg·cm^(-2)after 100 h 1-h cyclic oxidation at 1150℃,showing better oxidation resistance than the traditional *** oxide scale mostly consisting ofα-Al_(2)O_(3)grew on the novel coating because the element Cr from the SC alloy substrate contributes to the formation ofα-Al_(2)O_(3).Pt content in the novel coating has significant effect on the oxidation *** optimized Pt content in the coating is about 16 at%,which is helpful to reduce the diffusion of harmful elements from the substrate into the coating but also to reduce the cost of the coating.

A highly sensitive fluorescent HClO probe for discrimination between cancerous and normal cells/tissues

Elevated level of hypochlorous acid(HClO)is closely associated with cancer *** HClO level in cancer cells would provide important evidence in either early-stage cancer diagnostics or monitoring of its treatment *** this work,a new pyronine-based fluorescent probe for rapid and sensitive detection of HClO was developed by condensing meso-formyl pyronine(PyCHO)with 2-hydrazinopyridine to form meso-pyridylhydrazone-functionalized pyronine PyHP,PyHP is nonfluorescent due to the excited-state C=n isomerization nonradiative decay,whereas the HClO-triggered formation of meso-triazolopyridyl pyronine PyTP abolishes the C=n isomerization and thus greatly enhances the *** the probe,the cancer cells/tumor were distinguished with high-contrast from normal ones by laser confocal fluorescence imaging,and the tumor-to-normal(T/n)ratios obtained exceed the clinically acceptable threshold of ***,its capability of in vivo imaging tumor was also *** results indicate the potential of PyHP as an effective tool in the early clinical diagnosis of cancers.

Enhanced nitrate removal from groundwater using a conductive spacer in flow-electrode capacitive deionization

Flow-electrode capacitive deionization(FCDI)represents a promising approach for ion separation from aqueous ***,the optimization of spacer,particularly for nitrate-contaminated groundwa-ter systems,has often been *** research comprehensively investigates the influence of using a conductive(carb.n cloth,CC)spacer on nitrate removal performance within FCDI system,comparing it to a non-conductive(nylon net,nn)*** both CC and nn FCDI systems,it is unsurprisingly that nitrate removal efficiency improved notably with the increasing current density and hydraulic retention time(HRT).Interestingly,the specific energy consumption(SEC)for nitrate removal did not show obvious fluctuations when the current density and HRT varied in both *** the auspiciously optimized process parameters,CC-FCDI attained a 20%superior nitrate removal efficiency relative to nn-FCDI,ac-companied by a notably diminished SEC for CC-FCDI,registering at a mere 28%of *** great improvement can be primarily attributed to the decrement in FCDI internal resistance after using con-ductive spacer,which further confirmed by electrochemical tests such as linear sweep voltammetry(LSV)and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).Upon prolonged continuous nitrate removal at the optimized conditions,the CC-FCDI system achieved a consistent 90%nitrate removal efficiency with a low SEC of 2.7-7.8 kWh/kg nO_(3)-n,underscoring its steady ***,this study highlights the pivotal importance of careful spacer design and optimization in realizing energy-efficient groundwater treatment via FCDI.

Infrared microspectroscopy beamline bL06b at SSRF

The infrared microspectroscopy beamline(bL06b) is a phase Ⅱ beamline project at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF). The construction and optical alignment of bL06b were completed by the end of 2020. by 2021, it became accessible to users. The synchrotron radiation infrared(SRIR) source included edge radiation(ER) and b.nding magnet radiation(bMR). The extracted angles in the horizontal and vertical directions were 40 and 20 mrad, respectively. The photon flux, spectral resolution, and focused spot size were measured at the bL06b endstation, and the experimental results were consistent with theoretical calculations. SRIR light has a small divergence angle, high brightness, and a wide wavelength range. As a source of IR microscopy, it can easily focus on a diffraction-limited spatial resolution with a high signal-to-noise ratio(SnR). The bL06b endstation can be applied in a wide range of research fields, including materials, chemistry, biology, geophysics, and pharmacology.
