Hydrodynamic characteristics and particle tracking of 90° lateral intakes at an inclined river slope

Lateral intakes are common in *** pump effciency and sediment deposition are determined by the local hydrodynamic characteristics and mainstream division *** hydraulic characteristics of lateral withdrawal from inclined river slopes at different intake elevations should be ***,the division width exhibits significant vertical non-uniformity at an inclined river slope,which should be ***,a three-dimensional(3-D)hydrodynamic and particle-tracking model was developed with the Open Source Field Operation and Manipulation(Open FOAM),and the model was validated with physical model tests for 90°lateral withdrawal from an inclined side *** flow fields,withdrawal sources,and division widths were investigated with different intake bottom elevations,withdrawal discharges,and main channel *** study showed that under inclined side bank conditions,water entered the intake at an oblique angle,causing significant 3-D spiral flows in the intake rather than two-dimensional closed recirculation.A lower withdrawal discharge,a lower bottom elevation of the intake,or a higher main channel velocity could further strengthen this *** average division width and turbulent kinetic energy were smaller under inclined side bank conditions than under vertical bank *** a low intake bottom elevation,a low withdrawal discharge,or a high main channel velocity,the sources of lateral withdrawal were in similar ranges near the local inclined bank in the vertical *** inclined slope conditions,sediment deposition near the intake entrance could be reduced,compared to that under vertical slope *** results provide hydrodynamic and sediment references for engineering designs for natural rivers with inclined terrains.

Xanthomonas oryzae ***(Xoo)causes bacterial blight(BB),a globally devastating disease of rice(Oryza sativa)that is responsible for significant crop *** and sugar metabolites are important for pathogen infection,providing energy and regulating events associated with defense responses;howev-er,the mechanisms by which they regulate such events in BB are *** an inevitable sugar metabolite,methylglyoxal(MG)is involved in plant growth and responses to various abiotic stresses,but the underlying mechanisms remain *** and how MG functions in plant biotic stress responses is almost completely ***,we report that the Xoo strain PXO99 induces OsWRKY62.1 to repress transcrip-tion of OsGLY Il genes by directly binding to their promoters,resulting in overaccumulation of *** negatively regulates rice resistance against Pxo99:osglyll2 mutants with higher MG levels are more sus-ceptible to the pathogen,whereas OsGLYIl2-overexpressing plants with lower MG content show greater resistance than the wild *** of OsGLYll2 to prevent excessive MG accumulation confers broad-spectrum resistance against the biotrophic bacterial pathogens Xoo and Xanthomonas oryzae *** and the necrotrophic fungal pathogen Rhizoctonia solani,which causes rice sheath *** evidence shows that MG reduces rice resistance against PXO99 through CONSTITUTIVE DISEASE RESISTANCE 1(OsCDR1).MGmodifies the Arg97 residue of OsCDR1to inhibit its aspartic protease activ-ity,which is essential for OsCDR1-enhanced *** together,these findings illustrate how Xoo promotes infection by hijacking a sugar metabolite in the host plant.

Polyester Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic(Polyester GFRP),a thermosetting plastic comprised of glass fiber and polyester polymer compounds,is extensively utilized in high-speed *** its pyrolysis mechanism is crucial as it significantly influences the combustion characteristics and fire safety ***,kinetic research on polyester GFRP primarily focuses on employing the Coats-Redfern method to derive a theoretical kinetic ***,the pyrolysis process of polyester GFRP is complex and the aforementioned theoretical model fails to accurately describe the pyrolysis ***,this study seeks to utilize the Sestak and Berggren(SB) model as a methodological approach to reveal the complex reaction mechanism during the pyrolysis *** on thermogravimetric analysis,the entire pyrolysis process of polyester GFRP is divided into two primary ***,model-free methods are employed to ascertain the activation energy and pre-exponential *** results show that the fitted empirical models of the two main pyrolysis stages are f(α)=(1-α)^(1.47)[-ln(1-α)]^(1.50) and f(α)=(1-α)^(1.77)[-ln(1-α)]^(1.72),*** predicted results are in good agreement with experimental data under different heating rates,which indicates that the empirical model can sufficiently describe the pyrolysis process of polyester GFRP.

Lithium-ion batteries are used in a wide range of ***,their cycle life suffers from the problem of capacity fade,which includes calendar and cycle *** effects of storage time,temperature and partial charge-discharge cycling on the capacity fade of Li-ion batteries are investigated in this *** calendar aging and cycle aging are presented based on the storage and cycling experiment on LiCoO_(2)/graphite cells under different storage temperature and different ranges of state of charge(SOC).Based on the measurement data,a one-component and a double-component aging model are presented to respectively describe the capacity fade caused by calendar and cycle *** calendar aging of LiCoO_(2)/graphite batteries is mainly affected by temperature and SOC during the *** SOC and change in SOC(ΔSOC)are the main factors affecting battery degradation during cycling operation.

Numerical Analysis of Heat Transfer Characteristics to Supercritical CO_(2) in a Vertical Mini-Channel:Transition and Pseudo-Boiling

Large eddy simulations have been conducted to study upward transitional flows and heat transfer characteristics of supercritical CO_(2) in a vertical *** numerical simulation was carried out on a modified buoyantPimpleFOAM solver in OpenFOAM 7,and was verified using experiment *** results indicate that increasing the Grashof numbers can reduce the flow stability and make the flow transition *** are four stages of heat transfer in the transition process,i.e.,weakened,improved,recovered and normal heat *** heat transfer phenomena in the transition process were explained from three perspectives:thermal boundary layer theory,turbulent transport and pseudo-boiling *** transfer enhancement during transition is related to the transport of supercritical molecular clusters,and these molecular clusters are regarded as pseudo-bubbles in pseudo-boiling *** flow pattern of the pseudo-phases in the dia-Widom process contains single-phase flow,steady pseudo-film flow,unsteady pseudo-film flow,partial pseudo-bubbles flow and flocculent pseudo-film ***-bubbles have similar behaviors to subcritical bubbles,i.e.,break-up,deformation,condensation and *** researches in this work are favorable for understanding the heat transfer mechanism of supercritical fluids during flow transition.

Micro-flow structure at regime transition from bubbling to turbulent fluidization in a fluidized bed

Gas-solid fluidized beds have found extensive utilization in frontline manufacturing,in particular as low-velocity *** fluidization status,the bubbling or turbulent flow regime and the transition in between,determine the system performance in practical *** the convoluted hydrodynamics are quantitively evaluated through numerous data-processing methodologies,none of them alone can reflect all the critical information to identify the transition from the bubbling to the turbulent ***,this study was to exploit a coupling data processing methodology,in the combination of standard deviation,power spectrum density,probability density function,wavelet transform,and wavelet multiresolution method,to jointly explain the micro-flow structure at the regime transition from bubbling to turbulent *** transient differential pressure fluctuation was measured for the evaluation in a fluidized bed(0.267 m i.d.×2.5 m height)with FCC catalysts(d_(p)=65μm,ρ_(p)=1780kg/m^(3))at different superficial gas velocities(0.02–1.4 m/s).The results show that the onset of turbulent fluidization starts earlier in the top section of the bed than in the bottom *** wavelet decomposition displays that the fluctuation of differential pressure mainly concentrates on the sub-signals with an intermediate frequency *** sub-signals could be synthesized into three types of scales(micro-scale,meso-scale,and macro-scale),representing the multi-scale hydrodynamics in the fluidized *** micro-scale signal has the characteristic information of bubbling fluidization,and the characteristic information of turbulent fluidization is mainly represented by the meso-scale *** work provides a systematic comprehension of fluidization status assessment and serves as an impetus for more coupling analysis in this sector.

Spectral Fittings of Warm Coronal Radiation with High Seed Photon Temperature:Apparent Low-temperature and Flat Soft Excess in AGNs

A warm corona has been widely proposed to explain the soft excess(SE)in X-ray above the 2-10 ke V power law extrapolation in Active Galactic Nuclei(AGNs).In actual spectral fittings,the warm coronal seed photon temperature(T_s)is usually assumed to be far away from the soft X-ray,but kT_scan reach close to 0.1 ke V in the standard accretion disk *** this study,we used Monte Carlo simulations to obtain radiation spectra from a slab-like warm corona and fitted the spectra using the spherical-geometry-based routine THCOMP or a thermal *** findings reveal tha high T_scan influence the fitting results.A moderately high kT_s(around 0.03 ke V)can result in an apparent low-temperature and flat SE,while an extremely high kT_s(around 0.07 ke V)can even produce an unobserved blackbody-like *** conclusions indicate that,for spectral fittings of the warm coronal radiation(SE in AGNs),kT_sshould be treated as a free parameter with an upper limit,and an accurate coronal geometry is necessary when kT_s>0.01 ke V.

Understanding the rapid spread of antimicrobial resistance genes mediated by IS26

Insertion sequences(ISs)promote the transmission of antimicrobial resistance genes(ARGs)across bacterial ***,their contributions and dynamics during the transmission of resistance remain *** this study,we selected is26 as a representative transposable element to decipher the relationship between ISs and ARGs and to investigate their transfer features and transmission *** retrieved 2656 translocatable IS26-bounded units with ARGs(tiS26-bUs-ARGs)in complete bacterial genomes from the NCBI RefSeq *** total,124 ARGs spanning 12 classes of antibiotics were detected,and the average contribution rate of IS26 to these genes was 41.2%.We found that IS26-bounded units(IS26-bUs)mediated extensive ARG dissemination within the bacteria of the Gammaproteobacteria class,showing strong transfer po-tential between strains,species,and even *** Is26-bUs expanded in bacterial populations over time,and their temporal expansion trend was significantly correlated with antibiotic *** wide dissemination could be due to the nonspecific target site preference of ***,we experimentally confirmed that the introduction of a single copy of is26 could lead to the formation of a composite transposon mediating the transmission of“passenger”*** observations extend our knowledge of the IS26 and provide new insights into the mediating role of ISs in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance.

Microneedle patch loaded with ferritin-nanocaged doxorubicin for locally targeted drug delivery and efficient skin cancer treatment

Prognostic value of lymph node metastasis in patients with T1-stage colorectal cancer from multiple centers in China

AIM To explore the features and prognostic value of lymph node metastasis in patients with T1-stage colorectal cancer(CRC).METHODS In all,321 cases of T1-stage CRC were selected from 10132 patients with CRC who received surgical therapy in six large-scale hospitals in China and were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to analyze the risk factors for lymphatic metastasis. A survival analysis was then performed to analyze the prognostic value of lymph node *** The occurrence rate of T1 stage was 3.17%(321/10132);of these patients,the lymph node metastasis rate was 8.41%(27/321),and the non-lymph node metastasis rate was 91.59%(294/321). Univariate analysis showed that preoperative serum CEA,preoperative serum CA199,preoperative serum CA724,vascular invasion,and degree of differentiation were associated with lymph node metastasis in T1-stage CRC(P < 0.05 for all). Multivariate analysis indicated that preoperative serum CA724,vascular invasion,and degree of differentiation were closely related to lymph node metastasis(P < 0.05 for all). Log-rank survival analysis showed that age,preoperative serum CEA,preoperative serum CA199,vascular invasion,degree of differentiation,and lymph node metastasis(χ2 = 24.180,P < 0.001) were predictors of 5-year overall survival(OS)(P < 0.05 for all). COX regression analysis demonstrated that preoperative serum CA199 and lymph node metastasis(HR = 5.117;P < 0.05;95%CI: 0.058-0.815) were independent prognostic indicators of 5-year OS in patients with T1-stage CRC(P < 0.05 for both). CONCLUSION The morbidity of T1-stage CRC was 3.17% for all CRC cases. Preoperative serum CA724,vascular invasion,and degree of differentiation are independent risk factors for lymph node metastasis. Lymph node metastasis is an independent prognostic factor for OS in patients with T1-stage CRC.
