Exposure to oxygen alters the physical and chemical properties of two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs).In particular,oxygen in the ambient may influence the device stability of 2D TMDs over *** the doping of 2D TMDs,especially hole doping is highly desirable towards their device ***,controllable oxygen-induced p-type doping in a range of hexagonal(MoTe2,WSe2,MoSe2 and PtSe2)and pentagonal(PdSe2)2D TMDs are *** tunneling microscopy,electrical transport and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy are used to probe the origin of oxygen-derived hole *** mechanisms are postulated that contribute to the hole doping in 2D TMDs,namely charge transfer from absorbed oxygen molecules,surface oxides,and chalcogen atom *** work provides insights into the doping effects of oxygen,enabling the engineering of 2D TMDs properties for nanoelectronic applications.

In order to develop functional energy storage device,it is necessary to improve the energy and power *** a potential candidate that can synergistically harmonize energy and power density,lithium ion capacitor(LIC)has shown exciting promises in recent ***,in the recent years,alternative metal has been explored to replace lithium in such metal-ion capacitor ***,in this work we present zinc ion capacitor(ZIC)in which zinc acts as negative electrode and Metal Organic framework(MOF)derived carbon as positive *** assembled ZIC was able to demonstrate exceptional power density of 85.5 kW kg^-1 and a maximal energy density of 36.4W h kg^-1,together with 99%capacitance retention after cycling for 20000 cycles.

Creating and manipulating multiple charge states of solitary defects in semiconductors is of essential importance for solitary defect electronics,but is fundamentally limited by Coulomb’s *** this objective is challenging,due to the conflicting requirements of the localization necessary for the sizable band gap and delocalization necessary for a low charging ***,using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy experiments and first-principles calculations,we realized exotic quinary charge states of solitary defects in two-dimensional intermetallic semiconductor *** also observed an ultralow defect charging energy that increases sublinearly with charge number rather than displaying the usual quadratic *** work suggests a promising route for constructing multiple defect-charge states by designing intermetallic semiconductors,and opens new opportunities for developing quantum devices with charge-based quantum states.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the approaches applied to analyze solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) microstructural properties. Both manual and automated image processing approaches applied on SOFC microstructural images which are obtained from several types of tomography such as dual-beam focused ion beam with scanning electron microscopy (FIB-SEM), Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) and others are discussed. In fact, to achieve a realistic and accurate SOFC microstructural properties, such as average diameter, volume fraction, triple phase boundary (TPB), area interface density and tortuosity factor, the approaches of image processing and quantification are crucial for a reliable image generation for quantification purposes. The microstructural properties are optimized to improve SOFC electrode performance. Therefore, the image processing and quantification approaches are outlined and reviewed. Despite the automated image processing and quantification algorithms significantly outperform manual image processing and quantification approaches in terms of computing speed when evaluating and measuring microstructural properties, the efficiency and productivity are still extremely taken into concern. As a result, image processing and quantification approaches are concluded and presented respectively in this paper.

The realization of long-range magnetic ordering in two-dimensional(2D)van der Waals systems significantly expands the scope of the 2D family as well as their possible spin-related phenomena and device *** atomically thin nature of 2D materials makes their magnetically ordered states sensitive to local environments,and this necessitates advanced characterization at the atomic ***,we briefly review several representative 2D magnetic systems,namely,iron chalcogenides,chromium chalcogenides,chromium trihalides,and their *** powerful scanning-probe microscopy,atomically resolved characterization of their crystalline configurations,electronic structures,and magnetization distributions has been achieved,and novel phenomena such as giant tunneling magnetoresistance and topological superconductivity have been ***,we discuss the challenges and new perspectives in this flourishing field.

Association between the elderly frequent attender to the emergency department and 30-day mortality： A retrospective study over 10 years

BACKGROUND: To determine if elderly frequent attenders are associated with increased 30-day mortality, assess resource utilization by the elderly frequent attenders and identify associated characteristics that contribute to mortality. METHODS: Retrospective observational study of electronic clinical records of all emergency department(ED) visits over a 10-year period to an urban tertiary general hospital in Singapore. Patients aged 65 years and older, with 3 or more visits within a calendar year were identified. Outcomes measured include 30-day mortality, admission rate, admission diagnosis and duration spent at ED. Chi-square-tests were used to assess categorical factors and Student t-test was used to assess continuous variables on their association with being a frequent attender. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were conducted on all significant independent factors on to the outcome variable(30-day mortality), to determine factor independent odds ratios of being a frequent ***: 1.381 million attendance records were analyzed. Elderly patients accounted for 25.5% of all attendances, of which 31.3% are frequent attenders. Their 30-day mortality rate increased from 4.0% in the first visit, to 8.8% in the third visit, peaking at 10.2% in the sixth visit. Factors associated with mortality include patients with neoplasms, ambulance utilization, male gender and having attended the ED the previous ***: Elderly attenders have a higher 30-day mortality risk compared to the overall ED population, with mortality risk more marked for frequent attenders. This study illustrates the importance and need for interventions to address frequent ED visits by the elderly, especially in an aging society.

利用同步辐射角分辨光电子能谱(SRARPES)对6H-SiC(0001)-63^(1/3)×63^(1/3)R30°重构表面的电子结构和表面态进行了研究.通过鉴别价带谱中来自于体态的信息,可以推断出重构表面的费米能级位于体态价带顶之上(2.1±0.1)eV处.实验测出的体能带结构与理论计算的结果较为符合.在重构表面上发现三个表面态,分别位于结合能-0.48eV(S0),-1.62eV(S1)和-4.93eV(S2)处.沿着表面布里渊区的高对称线ΓKM方向,测量了相关表面态的能带色散,只有表面态S0(-0.48eV)表现出了所希望的63×63R30°重构周期性.根据实验现象,可以认为,表面态S0应归结于重构表面的C—C悬键,而表面态S1则由重构表面未钝化的C悬键所导致.

The fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda,is a major pest native to the Americas that has recently invaded the Old *** mutations in the target-site proteins acetylcholinesterase-1(ace-1),voltage-gated sodium channel(VGSC)and ryanodine receptor(RyR)have been identified in *** as major resistance mechanisms to organophosphate,pyrethroid and diamide insecticides *** in the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette transporter C2 gene(ABCC2)have also been identified to confer resistance to Cry IF *** this study,we applied a whole-genome sequencing(WGS)approach to identify point mutations in the target-site genes in 150 FAW individuals collected from China,Malawi,Uganda and *** approach revealed three amino acid substitutions(A201S,G227A and F290V)of *** ace-1,which are known to be associated with organophosphate *** Brazilian population had all three ace-1 point mutations and the 227A allele(mean frequency=0.54)was the most *** from China,Malawi and Uganda harbored two of the three ace-1 point mutations(A201S and F290V)with the 290V allele(0.47-0.58)as the dominant *** mutations in VGSC(T929I,L932F and L1014F)and RyR(I4790M and G4946E)were not detected in any of the 150 individuals.A novel 12-bp insertion mutation in exon 15 of the ABCC2 gene was identified in some of the Brazilian individuals but absent in the invasive *** results not only demonstrate robustness of the WGS-based genomic approach for detection of resistance mutations,but also provide insights for improvement of resistance management tactics in ***.
