In this paper, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics（SPH） method is used to build a numerical wave-current tank（NWCT）. The wave is generated by using a piston-type wave generator and is absorbed by using a sponge layer. The uniform current field is generated by simultaneously imposing the directional velocity and hydrostatic pressure in both inflow and outflow regions set below the NWCT. Particle cyclic boundaries are also implemented for recycling the Lagrangian fluid particles. Furthermore, to shorten the time to reach a steady state, a temporary rigid-lid treatment for the water surface is proposed. It turns out to be very effective for weakening the undesired oscillatory flow at the beginning stage of the current generation. The calculated water surface elevation and horizontal-velocity profile are validated against the available experimental data. Satisfactory agreements are obtained, demonstrating the good capability of the NWCT.

Dear Editor, The urachus, which is a vestigial structure between the dome of the bladder and umbilicus, usually, retracts from the bladder before birth. However, the urachal remnant was continuous with the bladder cavity even in adults in 32% of bladder in one autopsy study.1 For this reason, tumors may develop from the remnants, most of which are well-differentiated mucinous adenocarcinomas, which is a rare form of vesical malignancy, accounting for 〈 1% of all bladder cancers. Although local spread to the peritoneum is common at presentation, distant metastases without local recurrence are rarely detected following surgical excision of clinically localized disease. The fatigue damage caused by flow-induced vibration(FIV)is one of the major concerns for multiple cylindrical structures in many engineering *** FIV suppression is of great importance for the security of many cylindrical *** active and passive control methods have been employed for the vibration suppression of an isolated cylinder undergoing vortex-induced vibrations(VIV).The FIV suppression methods are mainly extended to the multiple cylinders from the vibration control of the isolated *** to the mutual interference between the multiple cylinders,the FIV mechanism is more complex than the VIV mechanism,which makes a great challenge for the FIV *** efforts have been devoted to vibration suppression of multiple cylinder systems undergoing FIV over the past two *** control methods,such as helical strakes,splitter plates,control rods and flexible sheets,are not always effective,depending on many influence factors,such as the spacing ratio,the arrangement geometrical shape,the flow velocity and the parameters of the vibration control *** FIV response,hydrodynamic features and wake patterns of the multiple cylinders equipped with vibration control devices are reviewed and *** FIV suppression efficiency of the vibration control methods are analyzed and compared considering different influence *** research on the FIV suppression of multiple cylinders is suggested to provide insight for the development of FIV control methods and promote engineering applications of FIV control methods.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is highly prevalent among older men, impacting on their quality of life, sexual function, and genitourinary health, and has become an important global burden of disease. Transurethral plasmakinetic resection of prostate (TUPKP) is one of the foremost surgical procedures for the treatment of BPH. It has become well established in clinical practice with good efficacy and safety. In 2018, we issued the guideline “2018 Standard Edition”. However much new direct evidence has now emerged and this may change some of previous recommendations. The time is ripe to develop new evidence-based guidelines, so we formed a working group of clinical experts and methodologists. The steering group members posed 31 questions relevant to the management of TUPKP for BPH covering the following areas: questions relevant to the perioperative period (preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative) of TUPKP in the treatment of BPH, postoperative complications and the level of surgeons’ surgical skill. We searched the literature for direct evidence on the management of TUPKP for BPH, and assessed its certainty generated recommendations using the grade criteria by the European Association of Urology. Recommendations were either strong or weak, or in the form of an ungraded consensus-based statement. Finally, we issued 36 statements. Among them, 23 carried strong recommendations, and 13 carried weak recommendations for the stated procedure. They covered questions relevant to the aforementioned three areas. The preoperative period for TUPKP in the treatment of BPH included indications and contraindications for TUPKP, precautions for preoperative preparation in patients with renal impairment and urinary tract infection due to urinary retention, and preoperative prophylactic use of antibiotics. The pipe-soil interactions at shoulders can significantly affect the vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) of free-spanning pipes in the subsea. In this paper, the seabed soil reacting force on the pipe is directly calculated with a nonlinear hysteretic soil model. For the VIV in the middle span, a classic van der Pol wake oscillator is adopted. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the vibration equations of the pipe are obtained which are different in the middle span and at the two end shoulders. The static configuration of the pipe is firstly calculated and then the VIV is *** present model is validated with the comparisons of VIV experiment, pipe-soil interaction experiment and the simulation results of VIV of free-spanning pipes in which the seabed soil is modelled with spring-dashpots. With the present model, the influence of seabed soil on the VIV of a free-spanning pipe is analyzed. The parametric studies show that when the seabed soil has a larger suction area, the pipe vibrates with smaller bending stresses and is *** with the increase of the shear strength of the seabed soil, the bending stresses increase and the pipe faces more danger.
