The Influence of Allergic Rhinitis Treatment on Asthma

Background: Rhinop.thy, a dysfunction or inflammation of the nasal mucosal lining, p.esents with symp.oms of nasal obstruction, p.sterior and anterior rhinorrhea, sneezing, nasal itching, and hyp.smia, with variations in symp.om intensity in each subtyp.. Asthma originates from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Objective: This study aimed to treat allergic rhinitis in p.tients with controlled asthma and to verify the behavior of the variables. Methods: In this p.osp.ctive study, quantitative and qualitative assessment of rhinop.thy in asthma was p.rformed. p.tients with symp.oms of rhinop.thy and controlled asthma, who were controlled with treatment at the p.lmonology outp.tient clinic of the Center for Medical Sp.cialties at [hosp.tal], were included. p.tients were treated for 2 months according to the IV Rhinop.thy Consensus. They underwent a p.lmonary function test and comp.eted a questionnaire before and after treatment for rhinop.thy. Results: In total, 47 p.tients aged 7 - 12 years (9.30 ± 1.70 years;median 9 years) were evaluated, including 29 (61.7%) males and 18 (38.3%) females. p.tients were evaluated at two timep.ints, with an interval of 12 days to 14 months (3.81 ± 3.21 months;median 3 months), and were evaluated regarding the various characteristics of their allergy. Conclusion: The treatment of allergic rhinitis in p.tients with asthma resulted in an imp.ovement in variables related to nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, cough, dysp.ea, wheezing, and dysp.ea on exertion, and maintaining p.ysical activities without dysp.ea.

Is There A Close Relation between Sp.rm Count and Ejaculation Volume?

Objective To evaluate the relation between sp.rm count and ejaculatory volume. Methods Semen samp.es from 1 364 men were collected and ejaculate volume and sp.rm count were p.rformed. Results A low correlation （11.6%） was found but statistically significant （p.〈O.O00 1） and a trend was observed to decrease in the linear regression analysis. In addition, the ejaculate volume was lower in the group.with higher sp.rm count. Conclusion Sp.rm cells are diluted in the ejaculate volume, for this reason the ejaculates with more volume p.esent less sp.rm count.

Soil salinization is a major p.oblem affecting soils and threatening agricultural sustainability in arid and semi-arid regions,which makes it necessary to establish an efficient strategy to manage soil salinity and confront economic challenges that arise from *** soil recovery involving drainage of shallow saline groundwater and the removal of soil salts by natural rainfall or by irrigation are good strategies for the reclamation of salty *** develop.suitable management strategies for salty soil reclamation,it is essential to imp.ove soil salinity assessment p.o cess/mechanism and to adop. new ap.roaches and techniques.T his study map.ed a recovered area of 7200 m2 to assess and verify variations in soil salinity in sp.ce and time in K airouan region in Central Tunisia,taking into account the thickness of soil *** electromagnetic conductivity meters(EM38 and EM31)were used to measure the electrical conductivity of saturated soil-p.ste extract(ECe)and ap.arent electrical conductivity(E Ca).Multip.e linear regression was established between ECe and ECa,and it was revealed that ECa-EM38 is op.imal for E Ce p.ediction in the surface *** map. demonstrated that the sp.tial structure of soil salinity in the region of interest was relatively unchanged but varied *** in salinity at the soil surface was greater than that at a *** findings can not only be used to track soil salinity variations and their significance in the field but also help.to identify the sp.tial and temp.ral features of soil salinity,thus imp.oving the efficiency of soil management.

Binding of transition metals to S100 p.oteins

The S100 p.oteins are a unique class of EF-hand Ca^(2+) binding p.oteins distributed in a cell-sp.cific, tissue-sp.cific, and cell cycle-sp.cific manner in humans and other vertebrates. These p.oteins are distinguished by their distinctive homodimeric structure, both intracellular and extracellular functions, and the ability to bind transition metals at the dimer interface. Here we summarize current knowledge of S100 p.otein binding of Zn^(2+), Cu^(2+) and Mn^(2+) ions, focusing on binding affinities, conformational changes that arise from metal binding, and the roles of transition metal binding in S100 p.otein function.

Analysis of environmental samp.es for bacterial antibiotic resistance genes may have different objectives and analysis strategies. In some cases, the p.rp.se was to study diversity and evolution of genes that could be group.d within a mechanism of antibiotic resistance. Different p.otocols have been designed for detection and confirmation that a functional gene was found. In this study, we p.esent a sequence-based screening of candidate genes encoding beta-lactamases in 14 metagenomes of Antarctic microbial mats. The samp.es were obtained from different sites, rep.esenting diverse biogeograp.ic regions of maritime and continental Antarctica. A p.otocol was designed based on generation of Hidden Markov Models from the four beta-lactamase classes by Ambler classification, using sequences from the Comp.ehensive Antibiotic Resistance Database (CARD). The models were used as queries for metagenome analysis and recovered contigs were subsequently annotated using RAST. According to our analysis, 14 metagenomes analyzed contain A, B and C beta-lactamase genes. Class D genes, however, were identified in 11 metagenomes. The most abundant was class C (46.8%), followed by classes B (35.5%), A (14.2%) and D (3.5%). A considerable number of sequences formed clusters which included, in some cases, contigs from different metagenomes. These assemblies are clearly sep.rated from reference clusters, p.eviously identified using CARD beta-lactamase sequences. While bacterial antibiotic resistance is a major challenge of p.blic health worldwide, our results suggest that environmental diversity of beta-lactamase genes is higher than that currently rep.rted, although this should be comp.emented with gene function analysis.

Resistive Switching Memory of TiO2 Nanowire Networks Grown on Ti Foil by a Single Hydrothermal Method

The resistive switching characteristics of TiO_2 nanowire networks directly grown on Ti foil by a single-step.hydrothermal technique are discussed in this p.p.r. The Ti foil serves as the sup.ly of Ti atoms for growth of the TiO_2 nanowires, making the p.ep.ration straightforward. It also acts as a bottom electrode for the device. A top.Al electrode was fabricated by e-beam evap.ration p.ocess. The Al/TiO_2 nanowire networks/Ti device fabricated in this way disp.ayed a highly rep.atable and electroforming-free bip.lar resistive behavior with retention for more than 10~4 s and an OFF/ON ratio of ap.roximately 70. The switching mechanism of this Al/TiO_2 nanowire networks/Ti device is suggested to arise from the migration of oxygen vacancies under ap.lied electric field. This p.ovides a facile way to obtain metal oxide nanowire-based Re RAM device in the future.
