The ultraviolet photolysis of CH2I2 was studied in water [1-3] and salt water solutions using photochemistry and picosecond time-resolved resonance Raman spectroscopy. Photolysis in both types environments produces mainly CH2（OH）2 and HI products. However, photolysis of CH2I2 in salt water leads to formation of new products/intermediates （CH2ICl and Cl2-） not observed in the absence of salt in aqueous solutions. The amount of CH2（OH）2 and HI products appears to decrease after photolysis of CH2I2 in salt water compared to pure water.

Prostate-specific antigen （PSA） along with digital rectal exam has been the standard for prostate cancer screening in the United States for the past 20 years.1 During this time period, the improved detection of prostate cancer decreased related mortality more than 30%.2 In fact, metastases and their comorbidities have decreased more than 75% since the early 1990s, resulting in a higher incidence of early organ-confined disease. While it is clear that prostate cancer mortality statistics have improved, it is unclear whether men are overscreened.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide [CO2] has increased dramatically within the current life spans of long-lived trees and old forests. Consider that a 500-year-old tree in the early twenty-first century has spent 70% of its life growing under preindustrial levels of [CO2], which were 30% lower than current levels. Here we address the question of whether old trees have already responded to the rapid rise in [CO2] occurring over the past 150 years. In spite of limited data, aging trees have been shown to possess a substantial capacity for increased net growth after a period of post-maturity growth decline. Observations of renewed growth and physiological function in old trees have, in some instances, coincided with Industrial Age increases in key environmental resources, including [CO2], suggesting the potential for continued growth in old trees as a function of continued global climate change.

This study compares the test results of the FAST (Fabric Assurance by Simple Testing) with those of the KES - F (Kawabata Evaluation Systems for Fabrics) for a range of nineteen light weight wool and wool blend fabrics in terms of the low - stress mechanical properties of bending, shear, and tensile deformation. It is found that there are very significant correlations between the corresponding parameters for extensibility and shear rigidity obtained from the test results of the two systems. The correlation between the values of bending rigidity obtained from the two systems is only moderate. Furthermore, for the fabrics tested in this study, the values of bending rigidity, shear rigidity, and extensibility measured using the KES - F instruments are higher than those of the corresponding parameters measured using the FAST instruments. The linear regression equation is given for each pair of corresponding parameter.

Fluorescence liftime imaging （FLIM） of modified hydrophobic bodipy dyes that act as fluorescent molecular rotors shows that the fluorescence lifetime of these probes is a function of the microviscosity of their environment. Incubating cells with these dyes, we find a punctate and continuous distribution of the dye in cells. The viscosity value obtained in what appears to be endocytotic vesicles in living cells is around 100 times higher than that of water and of cellular ***-resolved fluorescence anisotropy measurements also yield rotational correlation times consistent with large microviscosity values. In this way, we successfully develop a practical and versatile approach to map the microviscosity in cells based on imaging fluorescent molecular rotors.
