Three hundred and eleven honeybee samples from 12 countries in the Middle East and North Africa （MENA）（Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Yemen, Palestine, and Sudan） were analyzed for the presence of deformed wing virus （DWV）. The prevalence of DWV throughout the MENA region was pervasive, but variable. The highest prevalence was found in Lebanon and Syria, with prevalence dropping in Palestine, Jordan, and Egypt before increasing slightly moving westwards to Algeria and Morocco Phylogenetic analysis of a 194 nucleotide section of the DWV Lp gene did not identify any significant phylogenetic resolution among the samples, although the sequences did show consistent regional clustering, including an interesting geographic gradient from Morocco through North Africa to Jordan and Syria. The sequences revealed several clear variability hotspots in the deduced amino acid sequence, which furthermore showed some patterns of regional identity. Furthermore, the sequence variants from the Middle East and North Africa appear more numerous and diverse than those from Europe.

BACKGROUND Heart rate variability(HRV)was shown to be affected by performing religious *** To examine the relationship between the level of Quran(the holy book of Muslims)memorisation and HRV among *** This experimental study included 16 Tahfiz students and 16 non-Tahfiz students(n=32).The HRV was measured in three tasks:Recalling familiar verses,memorising new verses,and recalling the newly memorised verses of the *** analysis was done using these parameters:Standard deviation of N-N(heartbeat peak)interval;low frequency(LF);high frequency(HF)and LF/HF *** There were significant differences between tasks for all parameters(P<0.05).However,between the groups,only the LF/HF ratio had significant differences,with F=5.04,P<*** correlation showed a moderate positive correlation between the number of pages memorised and the LF/HF ratio(r=0.61,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Quran memorisation increased the HRV and our results suggested that this activity could be developed as an effective sympathovagal modulation training activity.

Effects of shifting cultivation on biological and biochemical characteristics of soil microorganisms in Khagrachari hill district, Bangladesh

We collected soil samples from two representative sites at Aatmile of Khagarachari hill district in Chittagong Hill Tracts. One of the sites was under shifting cultivation and the other an adjacent 13-year old teak plantation. Both sites were in the same physiographic condition and same aspect with parable soil type, which enabled us to measure the effects of shifting cultivation on soil micro-flora. We studied soil phys-ico-chemical properties and the biochemical and biological properties of soil microbes. Moisture and organic matter content as well as fungi and bacterial populations, both in surface and subsurface soils, were signifi-cantly （p≤0.001） lower in shifting cultivated soils compared to soils not under shifting cultivation, i.e. the teak plantation site. The most abundant bacteria in surface （0-10 cm） and sub-surface （10-20 cm） soils under shifting cultivation were Pseudomonas diminuta and Shigella, respec-tively, while in corresponding soil layers of teak plantation, predominant microbes were Bacillus firmus （0-10 cm） and Xanthomonas （10-20 cm）. The microbial population differences cannot be explained by soil texture differences because of the textural similarity in soils from the two sites but could be related to the significantly lower moisture and organic mat-ter contents in soils under shifting cultivation.

Role of electrodes in ambient electrolytic decomposition of hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN) solutions

Decomposition of hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN) solution with electrolytic decomposition method has attracted much attention in recent years due to its efficiencies and ***,the phenomenon has not been well-studied till now. By utilizing mathematical model currently available,the effect of water content and power used for decomposition was studied. Experiment data shows that sacrificial material such as copper or aluminum outperforms inert electrodes in the decomposition of HAN solution. In the case of using copper wire to electrolyse HAN solutions, approximately 10 seconds is required to reach 100℃ regardless of concentration of HAN. In tem of power consumption,100W-300W was found to be the range in which decomposition could be triggered effectively using copper wire as electrodes.

A Numerical Solution of Heat Equation for Several Thermal Diffusivity Using Finite Difference Scheme with Stability Conditions

The heat equation is a second-order parabolic partial differential equation, which can be solved in many ways using numerical methods. This paper provides a numerical solution that uses the finite difference method like the explicit center difference method. The forward time and centered space (FTCS) is used to a problem containing the one-dimensional heat equation and the stability condition of the scheme is reported with different thermal conductivity of different materials. In this study, results obtained for different thermal conductivity of distinct materials are compared. Also, the results reveal the well-behavior properties of the materials in good agreement.

The Impact of Cooperative Leaming and Empowerment on the Performance of First-Year Accounting Students

Empowerment in learning has been a topic of discussion for the last two decades. Empowered learners are not only believed to achieve greater content learning but are also thought to better demonstrate competencies such as communication, teamwork, and problem solving. These competencies are becoming increasingly important as the role of professional accountants evolves and diversifies. This paper examines first-year accounting students＇ perceptions of empowerment based on two different learning styles： cooperative learning and traditional classroom instruction. A quantitative research design was used to survey 279 first-year business degree students studying at institutions in Libya. The results indicated that students who attended cooperative learning classes were more empowered in terms of the impact they believed they could have on class discussions and the meaningfulness they attributed to the tasks being discussed. In addition, students taught by cooperative learning methods recorded significantly higher end of term exam results than those students who received traditional classroom instruction. In conclusion, this research indicates that the teaching method used in classroom instruction may impact an accounting student＇s levels of empowerment and subsequently their critical thinking, problem solving, writing skills, and technical accounting competencies.

Resilience of nurses at the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in Lebanon

Objective:The study aimed to investigate the level and factors associated with the resilience of nurses practicing at the main COVID-19 referral center in ***:The study utilized a cross-sectional survey *** were collected electronically in the spring of 2020 from 265 *** questionnaire included five sections:demographic characteristics,job satisfaction,turnover intentions,exposure to violence,and resilience *** linear regression was used to determine factors associated with ***:Results showed that the overall score of resilience among nurses was 66.91±*** nurses were satisfied with their job(67.8%),and most nurses reported that it is unlikely for them to quit their present work in the coming year(76.2%).Over the last year,three-quarters of nurses(74.7%)reported being ever exposed to a form of occupational *** resilience of nurses was directly associated with job satisfaction and male gender and inversely associated with intention-to-quit and exposure to violence(P<0.05).Conclusions:Enhancing the resilience of nurses at the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic improves their job satisfaction and retention and would help support the effectiveness and efficiency of care *** managers can regularly investigate the resilience of nurses and offer interventions that would strengthen it,especially at times of crisis.

A Comparison of Libyan and Australian Students＇ Perceptions of Empowerment in Accounting Courses

The concept of empowerment was introduced into the accounting education research by Zraa, Imran, Kavanagh, and Morgan （2011）. The authors＇ purpose is to compare Libyan and Australian students＇ perceptions of empowerment in accounting courses and to investigate their relationships with classroom instruction. This study involves a survey of 409 students, who are studying the first-year business degree at institutions in Libya and Australia. Observations and interviews are also conducted. Data are analyzed using reliability tests, factor analysis, t-tests, and correlations. The results indicate that Australian students are more empowered than Libyan students. In addition, the result reveals that classroom instruction methods influence students＇ empowerment.

Solution of a One-Dimension Heat Equation Using Higher-Order Finite Difference Methods and Their Stability

One-dimensional heat equation was solved for different higher-order finite difference schemes, namely, forward time and fourth-order centered space explicit method, backward time and fourth-order centered space implicit method, and fourth-order implicit Crank-Nicolson finite difference method. Higher-order schemes have complexity in computing values at the neighboring points to the boundaries. It is required there a specification of the values of field variables at some points exterior to the domain. The complexity was incorporated using Hicks approximation. The convergence and stability analysis was also computed for those higher-order finite difference explicit and implicit methods in case of solving a one dimensional heat equation. The obtained numerical results were compared with exact solutions. It is found that backward time and fourth-order centered space implicit scheme along with Hicks approximation performed well over the other mentioned higher-order approaches.

A growing number of international studies have highlighted that ambient air pollution exposures are related to different health outcomes. To do so, researchers need to estimate exposure levels to air pollution throughout everyday life. In the literature, the most commonly used estimate is based on home address only or taking into account, in addition, the work address. However, several studies have shown the importance of daily mobility in the estimate of exposure to air pollutants. In this context, we developed an R procedure that estimates individual exposures combining home addresses, several important places, and itineraries of the principal mobility during a week. It supplies researchers a useful tool to calculate individual daily exposition to air pollutants weighting by the time spent at each of the most frequented locations (work, shopping, residential address, etc.) and while commuting. This task requires the efficient calculation of travel time matrices or the examination of multimodal transport routes. This procedure is freely available from the Equit’Area project website: (https://***). This procedure is structured in three parts: the first part is to create a network, the second allows to estimate main itineraries of the daily mobility and the last one tries to reconstitute the level of air pollution exposure. One main advantage of the tool is that the procedure can be used with different spatial scales and for any air pollutant.
