Driving Cycle for Motorcycle Using Micro-Simulation Model

Driving cycle of vehicle has been used in emission estimation and fuel consumption study. Existing method of data collection using car chasing technique is expensive. The technique using micro simulation approach is cheaper and fast to derive the driving cycle. In this paper a traffic simulation model Driving Cycle Micro-Simulation Model for Motorcycle has been developed. The issue of lateral and longitudinal movement aspect in motorcycle driving has been examined in the model. Parameters to cover such movement have been built in the model and applied on a stretch in Edinburgh city of Scotland. Results from model have been both calibrated and validated. The results show that Driving Cycle Micro-Simulation Model for Motorcycle gives better representation of driving cycle and it can be used to understand the effect of driving modes on emission for better understanding of vehicular emission control.

Impact of the socioeconomic status on the severity and outcome of community-acquired pneumonia among Egyptian children: a cohort study

Background:Community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)is one of the five leading causes of death among children in developing countries,accounting for approximately three million deaths per *** of the modifiable risk factors of CAP may help to reduce the burden of this *** this study,the impact of the socioeconomic status(SES)on the severity and outcome of CAP among Egyptian children was ***:This was a prospective longitudinal cohort study which included 1,470 children diagnosed with CAP,aged two to 15 years(median age 5.4 years).The diagnosis of CAP was based on clinical and radiological findings.A structured questionnaire and the patients’medical records were used for the data *** subjects were divided into two groups:mild and severe *** and demographic variables were compared,and a multivariate logistic regression analysis was ***:The multivariate analysis showed that a low maternal education level(OR:3.8;95%CI:2.12-6.70;P=.0001),unavailability of adequate medical care(OR:3.1;95%CI:1.99-4.88;P=.0001),a low family income(OR:2.2;95%CI:0.99-4.78;P=.047),and parents’smoking habits(OR:2.0;95%CI:1.15-3.55;P=.014)were significant independent predictive risk factors for severe CAP among Egyptian ***:Public health measures against these socio-demographic risk factors should be identified as priorities in order to help reduce the disease burden of deaths from severe CAP among Egyptian children.

Mass production, fermentation, formulation of <i>Pseudomonas putida</i>for controlling of die back and phomopsis diseases on grapevine

The export oriented agricultural and horticultural crops depends on the export of residue free produce and has created a great potential and demand for the incorporation of biopesticides in crop protection. PGPR with wide scope for commercialization includes Pseudomonas putida. Pseudomonas putida was effective in reducing die back caused by a fungus Botryodiplodia theobromae and phomopsis or arm death, caused by a fungus, Phomopsis viticola of grapevine in vitro and in vivo. Pseudomonas putida showed optimum Siderophore pseudobactin production at 72 h, and growth peak at 120 h. glycerol as a source of carbon and yeast as a source of nitrogen Pseudomonas putida was formulated using polysaccharide dextran starch, which led to the elongation of conservation and the effectiveness of the biofungicide. Pseudomonas putida was very effective as biocontrol agents to reduce the die back and phomopsis diseases on grapevine. The obtained results showed that both bacterial treatments significantly increased the growth parameters as well as fruits dry weights and yield of grapevine.
