Analysis of the relationship between Image and Blood Examinations in an Artificial Intelligence System for the Molecular Diagnosis of Breast Cancer

Molecular subtype classification based on tumor genotype has recently been used for differential diagnosis of breast cancer. The shift from conventional tissue classification to molecular genetics-based classification is primarily because objective genetic information can ensure a biologically clear classification system and patient groups may be created for a given set of diagnoses and suitable treatments. Given the stressful nature of biopsy, radiomic studies are conducted to determine breast cancer subtypes using non-invasive imaging tests. Minimally invasive blood tests using microrNAs (mirNAs) contained in exosomes have been developed. We investigated the usefulness of radiomic features and mirNAs in distinguishing triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) from other cancer types. Fat suppression T2-weighted magnetic resonance images and mirNAs of 60 cases (9 TNBC and 51 others) were retrieved from the Cancer Genome Atlas Breast Invasive Carcinoma. Six radiomic features and six mirNAs were selected by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator. Linear discriminant analysis was employed to distinguish between TNBC and others. With mirNAs, TNBC and others were completely separated, whereas with radiomic features, TNBC overlapped with other types of breast cancer. receiver operating characteristic curve analysis results showed that the area under the curve of radiomic features and mirNAs was 0.85 and 1.0, respectively. mirNAs showed a higher discrimination performance than radiomic features. Although gene analysis is expensive and facilities for performing it are limited, mirNAs for blood tests may be useful in artificial intelligence systems for the molecular diagnosis of breast cancer.

Dear Editor,We present the first reported case of frontalis suspension procedure with the retroauricular fascia(rF)for a patient of unilateral congenital *** suspension procedure is one of the major surgical procedures for congenital ptosis[1].This procedure connects the affected eyelid and the brow with a graft and utilizes the frontalis muscle as the power of opening the upper eyelid[2].

Evaluation of changes of intracranial blood flow after carotid artery stenting using digital subtraction angiography flow assessment

AIM: To evaluate the changes of intracranial blood flow after carotid artery stenting(CAS), using the flow assessment application "Flow-Insight", which was developed in our ***: Twenty patients treated by CAS participated in this study. We analyzed the change in concentration of the contrast media at the anterior-posterior and profile view image with the flow assessment application "Flow-Insight". And we compared the results with N-isopropyl-p-[123I] iodoamphetamine-single-photon emission computed tomography(IMP SPECT) performed before and after the treatment. rESULTS: From this study, 200% of the parameter "blood flow" change in the post/pre-treatment is suggested as the critical line of the hyperperfusion syndrome arise. Although the observed blood flow increase in the digital subtraction angiography system did not strongly correlate with the rate of increase of SPECT, the "Flow-Insight" reflected the rate of change of the vessels well. However, for patients with reduced reserve blood flow before CAS, a highly elevated site was in agreement with the site analysis results. CONCLUSION: We concluded that the cerebral angiography flow assessment application was able to more finely reveal hyperperfusion regions in the brain after CAS compared to SPECT.

Double asymmetric Diels-Alder reaction of 1(Sr)-p-Tolylsulfinyl-3-penten-2-one with cyclopentadiene using a chiral titanium reagent was performed. The diastereoselectivity dependent on the size of aryl substituent involved in the chiral ligands was discussed Absolute configuration of the cycloadducts was conformed. Dramatic reversal of selectivity is observed.

Experimental Study of Clarification of Vortex Structure by Changing Disk Acceleration Time

Disks with two different dimensions were used to clarify the differences in final vortex structures generated by the change in disk acceleration time. The experiment results and calculated results of vortex structures match when the disk thickness is 20 mm and the reynolds number is 5000 - 15000. Also, they match when the disk thickness is 30 mm with a reynolds number from 3000 - 5000 and 9000 - 20000. Even when the size of the disk and the reynolds number are the same, the final vortex structures can be different due to differences in the disk acceleration time.

Changes in mrNA Expression and Activity of Xenobiotic Metabolizing Enzymes in Livers from Adjuvant-Induced Arthritis rats

Pathophysiological changes in human patients and in animal models of infection or inflammation are associated with alterations in the production of numerous liver-derived proteins including metabolizing enzymes. In this study, the effects of adjuvant-induced arthritis (AA) in rats on the levels of mrNA and activity of hepatic xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes were determined during the inflammatory response. The mrNA levels of cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A2, CYP2C12, CYP2D1, CYP2D2, and CYP3A1 were significantly decreased compared with control levels in almost all phases of inflammation. A reduction in the activity of CYP2C and CYP3A, which are abundantly expressed in the liver, was also observed. For phase II metabolizing enzymes, mrNA levels of uridine 5’-diphospho-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) 1A1, UGT1A6, sulfotransferase (SULT) 2A1, and glutathione S-transferase 2 were significantly decreased compared with control levels. However, the mrNA levels of UGT2B and SULT1A1 returned to control levels during the subacute (7 d after adjuvant treatment) and chronic (21 d after adjuvant treatment) phases although these levels decreased during the acute (3 d after adjuvant treatment) phase. These results suggest that the effects of inflammation on the expression of xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes differ depending on the isoform of the enzyme and could affect the pharmacokinetics of each substrate.

Carbohydrate analysis by methanolysis method and application to compositional analysis of transparent exopolymer particles

Measurement of uronic acids (UrAs) which are a group of acidic sugar, would be useful for the understanding of dynamics of bacterial extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) in marine environments. However, the UrA analysis using traditional hydrolysis method which is used for neutral sugar analysis poses serious problems in UrA that is unstable under hydrolysis. We developed the methanolysis method, which deploymerizes polysaccharides while retaining quantitative information. Our method was applied to coastal seawater, and the UrAs distribution was compared with that of transparent exopolymer particles (TEP) which are acidic sugar containing particles. Since the relationship of UrA with TEP was relatively weak, UrA-containing polysaccharides present in bacterial EPS would not participate as a structural component of TEP.

A Teaching Experiment in Modelling through Scale reduction Methods： A Bridge to Later Trigonometric Methods

In a teaching experiment, Japanese Grade 9 students investigated how to measure the height of an aerial balloon using different models involving angles and distances, and also to evaluate the models they developed. As novices to mathematical modelling, they needed to decide which of several possible models were both valid and practicable, and the errors in measurement that are likely to arise. Opportunities to construct and use paper models, as scale reductions of the real situation, and discussing their results in small groups were effective in moving forward the thinking of many students on the dimensions mentioned above. While students were less able to identify different sources of errors, many came to appreciate the need to learn trigonometric techniques that are more suitable in dealing with problems of this kind.
