Impact of body mass index on short-term outcomes of laparoscopic gastrectomy in Asian patients: A meta-analysis

AIM To perform a meta-analysis to investigate the correlation between body mass index(BMI) and the shortterm outcomes of laparoscopic gastrectomy(LG) for gastric cancer(GC) in Asian patients. METHODS The Pub Med, Cochrane, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies that focused on the impact of obesity on the short-term outcomes of LG for GC in Asian patients who were classified into a high BMI(BMI ≥ 25 kg/m^2) or low BMI group(BMI < 25 kg/m^2). The results are expressed using the pooled odds ratio(OR) for binary variables and standard mean difference(SMD) for continuous variables with 95%confidence interval(CI), and were calculated according to the fixed-effects model while heterogeneity was not apparent or a random-effects model while heterogeneity was *** Nine studies, with a total sample size of 6077, were included in this meta-analysis. Compared with the low BMI group, the high BMI group had longer operative time(SMD = 0.26, 95%CI: 0.21 to 0.32, P < 0.001), greater blood loss(SMD = 0.19, 95%CI: 0.12 to 0.25, P < 0.001), and fewer retrieved lymph nodes(SMD =-0.13, 95%CI: 0.18 to 0.07, P < 0.001). There was no significant difference between the high and low BMI groups in postoperative complications(OR = 1.12, 95%CI: 0.95 to 1.33, P = 0.169), the duration of postoperative hospital stay(SMD = 0.681, 95%CI:-0.05 to 0.07, P = 0.681), postoperative mortality(OR = 1.95, 95%CI: 0.78 to 4.89, P = 0.153), or time to resuming food intake(SMD = 0.00, 95%CI:-0.06 to 0.06, P = 0.973).CONCLUSION Our meta-analysis provides strong evidence that despite being associated with longer operative time, greater blood loss, and fewer retrieved lymph nodes, BMI has no significant impact on the short-term outcomes of LG for GC in Asian patients, including postoperative complications, the duration of postoperative hospital stay, postoperative mortality, and time to resuming food intake. Hydrothermal conversion of Ti-containing minerals in system of Na_2O–Al_2O_3–SiO_2–CaO–TiO_2–H_2O

Titanium has a great effect on the digestion of bauxite in the Bayer process because it reacts readily at high temperatures in alkaline sodium aluminate solution. Under this consideration, the hydrothermal conversion of Ti-containing minerals in the system of Na2O-Al2O3- SiO2-CaO-TiOz-H2O with increased temperatures was studied based on the thermodynamic analysis and systematic experiments. The results show that anatase converts to AlaTi2SiO12 at low temperatures （60-120℃）, which is similar to anatase in crystal structure. As the temperature continues to rise, Al4Ti2SiO12 decomposes gradually and converts to Ca3TiSi2（Al2Si0.5Ti0.5）O14 at 200 ℃ When the temperature reaches 260℃, CaTiO3 forms as the most stable titanate species for its hexagonal closest packing with O^2- and Ca^2＋. The findings enhance the under-standing of titanate scaling in the Bayer process and clarify the mechanism of how additive lime improves the digestion of diaspore.

Infiltration behavior of sintering liquid on nuclei ores during low-titanium ore sintering process

Sinter strength is dependent not only on the self-intensity of the residual rude and bonding phase but also on the bonding degree between them. The infiltration behavior of sintering liquid on nuclei ores influences the bonding degree, which ultimately determines the sinter strength. Infiltration tests were conducted using micro-sinter equipment. The infiltration area index of original liquid（IAO）, infiltration volume index of secondary liquid（IVS）, and sinter body bonding strength（SBS） were proposed to study the melt infiltration behavior. The results show that the IVS first increases and then decreases with increasing TiO2 content in adhering fines, whereas the IAO exhibits the opposite behavior. Compared with the original liquid, the secondary liquid shows lower porosity, smaller pores, and more uniform distribution. The SBS increases first and then decreases with increasing IAO and TiO2 content, and reaches a maximum when the IAO and TiO2 contents are approximately 0.5 and 2.0wt%, respectively. The SBS first increases and then tends to be stable with increasing IVS. The TiO2 content is suggested to be controlled to approximately 2.0wt% in low-titanium ore sintering.

Combustion characteristics and kinetics of anthracite with added chlorine

The combustion process of Yangquan anthracite（YQ） with the addition of 0.045wt%, 0.211wt%, 1.026wt%, and 2.982wt% chlorine was investigated using a thermogravimetric method from an ambient temperature to 1173 K in an air atmosphere. Results show that the YQ combustion characteristics are not significantly affected by an increase in chlorine content. Data acquired for combustion conversion are then further processed for kinetic analysis. Average apparent activation energies determined using the model-free method（specifically the KAS method） are 103.025, 110.250, 99.906, and 110.641 k J/mol, respectively, and the optimal kinetic model for describing the combustion process of chlorine-containing YQ is the nucleation kinetic model, as determined by the z（α） master plot method. The mechanism function of the nucleation kinetic model is then employed to estimate the pre-exponential factor, by making use of the compensation effect. The kinetic models to describe chlorine-containing YQ combustion are thus obtained through advanced determination of the optimal mechanism function, average apparent activation energy, and the pre-exponential factor.

Qian-Zheng-San promotes regeneration after sciatic nerve crush injury in rats

Qian-Zheng-San, a traditional Chinese prescription consisting of Typhonii Rhizoma, Bombyx Batryticatus, Scorpio, has been found to play an active therapeutic role in central nervous system diseases. However, it is unclear whether Qian-Zheng-San has therapeutic value for peripheral nerve injury. Therefore, we used Sprague-Dawley rats to investigate this. A sciatic nerve crush injury model was induced by clamping the right sciatic nerve. Subsequently, rats in the treatment group were administered 2 mL Qian-Zheng-San(1.75 g/mL) daily as systemic therapy for 1, 2, 4, or 8 weeks. Rats in the control group were not administered Qian-Zheng-San. Rats in sham group did not undergo surgery and systemic therapy. Footprint analysis was used to assess nerve motor function. Electrophysiological experiments were used to detect nerve conduction function. Immunofluorescence staining was used to assess axon counts and morphological analysis. Immunohistochemical staining was used to observe myelin regeneration of the sciatic nerve and the number of motoneurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord. At 2 and 4 weeks postoperatively, the sciatic nerve function index, nerve conduction velocity, the number of distant regenerated axons and the axon diameter of the sciatic nerve increased in the Qian-Zheng-San treatment group compared with the control group. At 2 weeks postoperatively, nerve fiber diameter, myelin thickness, and the number of motor neurons in the lumbar spinal cord anterior horn increased in the Qian-Zheng-San treatment group compared with the control group. These results indicate that QianZheng-San has a positive effect on peripheral nerve regeneration.

Effects of Rapamycin on the Differentiation and Function of Macrophages In Vitro

Macrophages have been generated from bone marrow progenitor cells （BMPCs） with macrophage colony-stimulating factor （M-CSF）. Rapamycin （rapa） is an immunosuppressive drug, which could prevent renal graft rejection and inhibit tumor growth to yield antiproliferative activity in a variety of malignancies. However, the direct effect of rapa on the development of macrophages is unknown. In this study, we explored the direct effect of rapa on the differentiation and function of macrophages differentiated from mouse BMPCs in vitro in the presence of M-CSF. The experimental data showed that rapa prevented the differentiation of macrophagcs by down-regulating CD80 and CD86 expression but upregulating F4/80 expression, as well as by reducing the capacity of differentiated macrophages to stimulate lymphocyte proliferation in the allogeneic mixed lymphocyte reaction. Furthermore, the phagocytic capacity of differentiated macrophages was significantly reduced by rapa. Therefore, rapa may directly inhibit macrophage differentiation and function, which may have been one of the major targets for rapa to mediate its immunosuppressive properties.

The Nu-Salween River(NSR),the longest free-flow river in Southeast Asia,plays an irreplaceable role in social development and ecological *** lower NSR region is particularly valuable as it is inhabited by approximately 6.7 million *** basin has limited hydraulic conservancy infrastructure and insufficient ability to cope with climate change *** the hydrological characteristics and changes in the basin provides the scientific basis for rational protection and development of the ***,owing to the limitation of observation data,previous studies have focused on the local area and neglected the study of the lower reaches,which is not enough to reflect the spatial characteristics of the entire *** this study,the ECMWF 5th generation reanalysis data(ERA5)and Multi-Source weighted-Ensemble Precipitation(MSWEP)were applied to develop a geomorphology-based hydrological model(GBHM)for reconstructing hydrological datasets(***-ERA5 and GBHM-MSWEP).The reconstructed datasets covering the complete basin were verified against the gauge observation and compared with other commonly used streamflow products,including Global Flood Awareness System v2.1,GloFAS-Reanalysis dataset v3.0,and linear optimal runoff aggregate(LORA).The comparison results revealed that GBHM-ERA5 is significantly better than the other four datasets and provides a good reproduction of the hydrological characteristics and trends of the *** analysis of GBHM-ERA5 revealed that:(1)A multi-year mean surface runoff represented 39%of precipitation over the basin during 1980–2018,which had low surface runoff in the upstream,while areas around the Three Parallel Rivers Area and the estuary had abundant surface runoff.(2)The surface runoff and discharge coefficient of variations in spring were larger than those in other seasons,and the inter-annual variation in the downstream was smaller than that in the upstream and midstream regions.(3)More than 70%of the basin are
