Numerical Simulation on Thermal Response of Laser-Irradiated Biological Tissues Embedded with Liquid Metal Nanoparticles

Photothermal therapy is emerging as a very promising way for minimally invasive cancer treatment.To enhance thermal energy deposition of laser in target malignant tissues,liquid metal nanoparticles(LMNPs)have been recently identified as completely unprecedented photothermal sensitizers due to their unique physicochemical properties and superior photothermal conversion rate under near-infrared(NIR)laser irradiation.However,there is currently a strong lack of understanding of the laser energy distribution and the transient temperature field within the biological tissues,which would seriously hinder the development of LMNPs assisted photothermal therapy.Therefore,this paper focused on the distinctive photothermal effect of LMNPs embedded in biological tissues under NIR laser irradiation.The mathematical model coupling the Monte-Carlo photon transport model with Penne's bioheat transfer model has been established.Simulation studies have shown that LMNPs play an important role in enhancing the absorption of NIR laser,which contributes to local temperature rise and improves the temperature distribution.Comparing with the control case without LMNPs,the maximum temperature increases by nearly 1.0 time,the local temperature rise reaches 30℃ in 1.0 second.When the diameter and concentration of LMNPs are 40 nm and 1012/mm3,the resulting temperature variation and distribution is best for the effective killing of tumors without damaging normal tissues.In addition,the simulation results are meaningful for guiding the selection of laser irradiation time in conjunction with the cooling time,ensuring the controllable accuracy of treatment.To the best of our knowledge,the present study is one of the first attempts to quantify the influence of transformable LMNPs on the temperature distributions inside the biological tissues,showing important academic significance for guiding LMNPs assisted photothermal treatment.

How water layer adsorbed on solid surface under ambient conditions affects the interfacial friction is a fundamental question for understanding the friction and lubrication phenomena in practical system.We investigate the formation of ice-like(IL)water layers on the hydrophobic surface of graphite with partially covered MoO_(3)nanoflakes(NFs)using atomic force microscopy(AFM)based techniques.The IL water layers are found surrounding the MoO_(3)NFs and also intercalated at the MoO_(3)/graphite interface,as proved by thickness measurements as well as local adhesion force and surface potential mappings.AFM manipulations carried out on MoO_(3)NFs on graphite show that the presence of the IL water layers increases the frictional resistance of the interface.Comparing the results on continuous and discontinuous IL water layers,we can identify the different sliding interfaces in the two scenarios.The increased friction for MoO_(3)NFs sliding on graphite with an intercalated water layer is attributed to the energy dissipation originated from the metastable nature of the IL layers.

Electric interconnection is an essential trend for future large-scale development and utilization of renewable energy.China has proposed the concept of Global Energy Interconnection to realize the clean utilization of energy through the interconnection of power grids and optimize the allocation of global energy resources.This study proposes the Kazakhstan-China-Republic of Korea networking scheme,analyzing the characteristics of power supply and demand in these countries.Based on the regional economic analysis and power development,four interconnection schemes are proposed utilizing UHVDC technology.Accordingly,existing problems and favorable factors are fully considered.The investment analysis of±1100 kV and±800 kV lines,configuration scheme of the converter station,and investment estimation of four interconnection schemes are given.

Transcription factor GLK1 promotes anthocyanin biosynthesis via an MBW complex-dependent pathway in Arabidopsis thaliana

Anthocyanins are important natural plant pigments and play diverse roles in plant growth and adaptation.Anthocyanins function as screens to protect photosynthetic tissues from photoinhibition.However,the regulatory mechanisms underlying the biosynthesis and spatial accumulation pattern of anthocyanins remain some unresolved issues.Here,we demonstrate that the GARP-type transcription factor GOLDEN2-LIKE 1(GLK1)functions as a positive factor in anthocyanin accumulation.GLK1 enhances the transcriptional activation activities of MYB75,MYB90,and MYB113 via direct proteinprotein interactions to increase the expression of anthocyanin-specific biosynthetic genes.Anthocyanins accumulate in an acropetal manner in Arabidopsis.We also found that the expression pattern of GLK1 overall mimicked the accumulation pattern of anthocyanin from the base of the main stem to the shoot apex.Based on these findings,we established a working model for the role of GLK1 in anthocyanin accumulation and propose that GLK1mediates the spatial distribution pattern of anthocyanins by affecting the transcriptional activation activities of MYB75,MYB90,and MYB113.

Certificateless designated verifier proxy signature scheme for unmanned aerial vehicle networks

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) technologies have a promising application prospect. It is necessary to use digital signature schemes to protect the integrity and authentication of messages in the UAV networks. According to the characteristics of UAV networks, digital signature schemes should solve the problems of digital certificate management and key escrow, guarantee the real-time performance of UAV executing commands, and ensure that only the designated verifier can verify the signature. Therefore, we proposed a certificateless designated verifier proxy signature(CLDVPS) scheme which meets the requirements. We proved our signature scheme is existentially unforgeable under an adaptive chosen message attack in the random oracle model and compared the efficiency of our signature scheme with other signature schemes.We implemented these signature schemes in jPBC to obtain the computing time and theoretically analyzed signature length of these signature schemes. The analysis results indicate that our CLDVPS scheme is more efficient than most of other related signature schemes on computation costs and also efficient on communication costs.

Precise Regulation of Ga-Based Liquid Metal Oxidation

CONSPECTUS:Liquid metals,defined as metals or alloys with melting points below or near room temperature,can be regarded as an amorphous solid without any crystallinity in the molten state,exhibiting fundamentally different fluidities and metallicities from solid metals and other liquids.In the past decade,gallium as a typical representative liquid metal with a melting point of∼29.8°C,virtually nonexistent vapor pressure,and negligible toxicity has been proposed as a base material for the construction of gallium(Ga)-based liquid metals(LMs).This class of extraordinary materials with unique physicochemical properties,such as superb thermal and electrical conductivity,fluidity,shape transformability,self-healing capability and biocompatibility,biodegradability,catalytic properties,plasmonic effect,and facile functionalization accessibility,has attracted considerable attention in widespread applications.Generally,under the action of ambient oxygen and water,the ultrathin oxide layers will be formed at the LM−ambient environment interface,which may provide a physical,chemical,and electrical barrier to prevent the LMs from further oxidation.The introduction of excitations,such as electrical,chemical,electrochemical,mechanical,and ultrasonic,and the alteration of reaction conditions including ingredients,temperature,and time will promote oxide formation.However,the existence of oxides is a double-edged sword,sometimes considered as a nuisance because of the deterioration of performance and stability;for example,the oxides will adhere to the system,which brings problems for fluidic applications(such as heat-transfer media,pump media,and microfluidity).Conversely,in some cases,oxides are considered essential to improve functionality,such as shape transformation,substrate adhesion,intracellular uptake,etc.For this reason,the main aim of oxidation regulation is to alter the fundamental physicochemical properties or even endow distinct and fascinating properties for the LMs,thereby expanding the scope of applications.Althoug

Thermal expansivity of geikielite and ilmenite utilizing in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction at high temperature

The unit-cell parameters and volumes of geikielite(MgTiO_(3))and ilmenite(FeTiO_(3))were investigated at high temperatures up to 700 K and ambient pressure,using in-situ angle-dispersive synchrotron X-ray diffraction.No phase transition was detected over the experimental temperature range.Using(Berman in J Petrol29:445-522,1988.10.1093/petrology/29.2.445)equations to fit the temperature-volume data,the volumetric thermal expansion coefficients at ambient conditions(α_(V0))of MgTiO_(3) and FeTiO_(3) were obtained as follows:2.55(6)×10^(-5)K^(-1)and 2.82(10)×10^(-5)K^(-1),respectively.We infer that the larger effective ionic radius of Fe^(2+)(Ⅵ)(0.78 A)than that of Mg^(2+)(Ⅵ)(0.72?)renders FeTiO_(3)has a larger volumetric thermal expansivity than MgTiO_(3).Simultaneously,the refined axial thermal expansion coefficients under ambient conditions areα_(a0)=0.74(3)×10^(-5)K^(-1)andα_(c0)=1.08(5)×10^(-5)K^(-1)for the aaxis and c-axis of MgTiO_(3),respectively,andα_(a0)=0.95(5)×10^(-5)K^(-1)andα_(c0)=0.92(12)×10^(-5)K^(-1)for the aaxis and c-axis of FeTiO_(3),respectively.The axial thermal expansivity of MgTiO_(3) is anisotropic,but that of FeTiO_(3) is nearly isotropic.We infer that the main reason for the different axial thermal expansivity between MgTiO_(3) and FeTiO_(3) is that the thermal expansion mode of the Mg-O bond in MgTiO_(3) is different from that of the Fe-O bonds in FeTiO_(3).

The development of network and information technology has brought changes to the information environment.The sources of information are becoming more diverse,and intelligence acquisition will be more complicated.The intelligence reflected by different dimensions of scientific and technologi-cal(S&T)data will have their own focuses.It has become inevitable to carry out the multi-dimen-sional research of S&T frontier,which is also a current research hotspot.This paper uses quantita-tive and qualitative research methods to conduct research and analysis of S&T frontier detection from three dimensions including S&T research projects,S&T papers and patents,and proposes related re-search methods and development tools.This work analyzes the S&T frontiers in the field of artificial intelligence and draws conclusions based on the analysis results of real and effective S&T data in three dimensions.

Influences of characteristic parameters on starting-up process of an arcjet thruster

Arcjet thruster has been a widely used electrical propulsion technology on GEO satellites since 1993.In its long history of technical development and commercial application,lifetime verification of an arcjet thruster is always one of the most important and expensive tasks.Considering that the main life limitation of an arcjet thruster is electrode ablation and a significant share of the total ablation happens in its starting-up process,the starting-up process is studied with arc voltage signals.Through interpretation of arc voltage signals,the transfer process of the arc root on the anode surface is identified,and?T(the duration of the arc root transfer process)is suggested to be a characteristic parameter for fast evaluation of lifetime assessment and design optimization for an arcjet thruster.With this criterion,the influences of typical parameters on the starting-up process are established through comparison with a benchmark parameter.According to experimental results,an increase of the gas flow will obviously reduce?T,while a smaller swirl aperture and a longer throat channel do not have a remarkable correlation with?T.Moreover,with a sample of a smaller throat diameter to increase the flow velocity,a reduction of?T is achieved.Meanwhile,the modifications also affect the stability of arcjet thruster operation,which is also discussed.
