●AIM:To evaluate the role of semaphorin 7A(Sema7A)and its associated regulatory mechanisms in modulating the barrier function of cultured human corneal epithelial cells(HCEs).●METHODS:Barrier models of HCEs were treated with recombinant human Sema7A at concentrations of 0,125,250,or 500 ng/mL for 24,48,or 72h in *** electrical resistance(TEER)as well as Dextran-fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC)permeability assays were conducted to assess barrier *** quantify tight junctions(TJs)such as occludin and zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)at the mRNA level,reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)analysis was *** was used to examine the activity of the nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling pathway and the production of TJs *** analyses were employed to localize the ***-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and RT-PCR were utilized to observe changes in interleukin(IL)-1β*** investigate the role of NF-κB signaling activation and IL^(-1)βin Sema7A’s anti-barrier mechanism,we employed 0.1μmol/L IκB kinase 2(IKK2)inhibitor IV or 500 ng/mL IL^(-1)receptor(IL-1R)antagonist.●RESULTS:Treatment with Sema7A resulted in decreased TEER and increased permeability of Dextran-FITC in HCEs through down-regulating mRNA and protein levels of TJs in a time-and dose-dependent manner,as well as altering the localization of ***,Sema7A stimulated the activation of inhibitor of kappa B alpha(IκBα)and expression of IL-1β.The anti-barrier function of Sema7A was significantly suppressed by treatment with IKK2 inhibitor IV or IL-1R antagonists.●CONCLUSION:Sema7A disrupts barrier function through its influence on NF-κB-mediated expression of TJ proteins,as well as the expression of IL-1β.These findings suggest that Sema7A could be a potential therapeutic target for the diseases in corneal epithelium.

To investigate the relationship between grain sizes, seepage capacity, and oil-displacement efficiency in the Liushagang Formation of the Beibuwan Basin, this study identifies the multistage pore-throat structure as a crucial factor through a comparison of oil displacement in microscopic pore-throat experiments. The two-phase flow evaluation method based on the Li-Horne model is utilized to effectively characterize and quantify the seepage characteristics of different reservoirs, closely relating them to the distribution of microscopic pores and throats. It is observed that conglomerate sandstones at different stages exhibit significant heterogeneity and noticeable differences in seepage capacity, highlighting the crucial role played by certain large pore throats in determining seepage capacity and oil displacement efficiency. Furthermore, it was found that the displacement effects of conglomeratic sandstones with strong heterogeneity were inferior to those of conventional homogeneous sandstone, as evidenced by multiple displacement experiments conducted on core samples with varying granularities and flooding systems. Subsequently, core-based experiments on associated gas flooding after water flooding were conducted to address the challenge of achieving satisfactory results in a single displacement mode for reservoirs with significant heterogeneity. The results indicate that the oil recovery rates for associated gas flooding after water flooding increased by 7.3%-16.4% compared with water flooding alone at a gas-oil ratio of approximately 7000 m^(3)/m^(3). Therefore, considering the advantages of gas flooding in terms of seepage capacity, oil exchange ratio, and the potential for two-phase production, gas flooding is recommended as an energy supplement mode for homogeneous reservoirs in the presence of sufficient gas source and appropriate tectonic angle. Synchronous condensers(SCs)are generally used at the receiving-end stations of ultra-high-voltage direct current(UHVDC)transmission systems due to their strong reactive power support and flexible regulation of reactive power according to the interconnected grids operating *** this paper,different starting control schemes of a SC integrated power grid are investigated providing four main contributions:1)The principle of reactive power support of the SC on the interconnected power grid is analytically studied,providing the establishment of mathematical models.2)Four different starting control schemes are developed for the initialization and SC integration,*** Scheme 1,a preset initial falling speed is directly utilized without initialization;in Scheme 2,a black start sequential control approach with a static frequency converter(SFC)is proposed;in Scheme 3,PI/PD/PID controllers are respectively applied for the excitation device at the speed-falling stage;in Scheme 4,a pre-insertion approach of an energy absorption component with R/L/RL is utilized to suppress the surges at the SC integration instant.3)The dynamic behaviors of four different starting schemes at specific operating stages are evaluated.4)The success rate of SC integration is analyzed to evaluate starting control *** of the SC interconnected system with four different starting control schemes is evaluated in the timedomain simulation environment PSCAD/EMTDC^(TM).The results prove the superiority of the proposed starting control approach in Scheme 4.

BACKGROUND Pulmonary mucoepidermoid carcinoma(PMEC)is a rare malignancy that arises from minor salivary glands within the tracheobronchial *** clear cell variant of PMEC is exceptionally uncommon and presents notable diagnostic challenges,primarily attributable to its morphological similarity to other tumors containing clear *** SUMMARY A 22-year-old male,formerly in good health,came in with a two-month duration of persistent cough and production of *** imaging and bronchoscopy examinations revealed a 2 cm tumor in the distal left main bronchus,which resulted in complete atelectasis of the left *** assessment via positron emission tomography/computed tomography scans and endoscopic biopsy confirmed the primary malignant nature of the tumor,charac-terized by clear cell morphology in most of the tumor *** patient underwent a left lower lobe sleeve resection accompanied by systematic mediastinal lymph node *** pathology analysis subsequently revealed a CRTC3-MAML2 gene fusion,leading to a definitive pathological diagnosis of the clear cell variant of PMEC,staged as *** surgery,the patient experienced a smooth recovery and exhibited no signs of recurrence during the one-and-a-half-year follow-up *** This article describes an unusual case of a clear cell variant of PMEC characterized by the presence of a CRTC3-MAML2 gene fusion in a 22-year-old *** patient underwent successful left lower lobe sleeve *** case underscores the distinctive challenges associated with diagnosing and treating this uncommon malignancy,underscoring the importance of precise diagnosis and personalized treatment strategies.

Covalent adaptive networks(CANs)are capable of undergoing segment rearrangement after being heated,which endows the materials with excellent self-healing and reprocessing performance,providing an efficient solution to the environment pollution caused by the plastic *** main challenge remains in developing CANs with both excellent reprocessing performance and creep-resistance *** this study,a series of CANs containing dynamic covalent benzopyrazole-urea bonds were developed based on the addition reaction between benzopyrazole and isocyanate *** calculation confirmed that relatively low dissociation energy is obtained through undergoing a five-member ring transition state,confirming excellent dynamic property of the benzopyrazole-urea *** verified by the FTIR results,this nice dynamic property can be well maintained after incorporating the benzopyrazole-urea bonds into polymer *** self-healing and reprocessing performance is observed by the 3-ABP/PDMS elastomers owing to the dynamic benzopyrazole-urea *** separation induced by the aggregation of the hard segments locked the benzopyrazole-urea bonds,which also makes the elastomers display excellent creep-resistance *** hard phase locking strategy provides an efficient approach to design CANs materials with both excellent reprocessing and creep-resistance performance.

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)is an important characterization tool in the pursuit of controllable fluorination of two-dimensional hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN).However,there is a lack of clear spectral interpretation,and seemingly conflicting measurements *** discern the structure−spectroscopy relation,we performed a comprehensive first-principles study on the boron 1s edge XPS of fluorinated h-BN(F-BN)*** gradually introducing 1−6 fluorine atoms into different boron or nitrogen sites,we created various F-BN structures with doping ratios ranging from 1 to 6%.Our calculations reveal that fluorines landed at boron or nitrogen sites exert competitive effects on the B 1s binding energies(BEs),leading to red or blue shifts in different *** calculations affirmed the hypothesis that fluorination affects 1s BEs of all borons in theπ-conjugated system,opposing the transferability from h-BN to ***,we observe that BE generally increases with higher fluorine concentration when both borons and nitrogens are nonexclusively *** findings provide critical insights into how fluorination affects boron’s 1s BEs,contributing to a better understanding of fluorination functionalization processes in h-BN and its potential applications in materials science.
