In recent decades,Southwest China(SWC)has suffered from frequent super droughts,leading to severe economic losses and ecological *** study investigates the characteristics of super droughts in SWC during 1961-2022,reveals the compounding effect of multiscalar anomalies,and explores the plausible atmospheric circulation mechanisms *** nature of super drought is a compound drought caused by the superposition of extreme drought events across multiple time *** contrasting the typical drought cases in 2006 and 2022,the decisive role of multiscalar drought compounding is *** on the Comprehensive Multiscalar Index(CMI),multiple super drought events in SWC were identified to be temporally clustered during *** them,the decadal background of enhanced evaporation and precipitation deficit at long time scales is a necessary condition for shaping the overall pattern of super droughts,while the precipitation and evaporation anomalies at short time scales trigger the outbreak of super droughts,determining the exact timing of *** events include August-September 2006,November 2009 to May 2010,July-October 2011,April-May 2012,January-April 2013,*** results suggest that the contribution of superposed precipitation anomalies to super drought is 2.4 times that of *** regards the circulation mechanisms affecting multiscalar precipitation,the anomalous spatial patterns at short-term and long-term scales are similar,featuring the cyclonic circulation over the South China Sea and the northeasterly wind anomalies together with the subsidence center over *** 2006-2014,the possible causes for the cross-seasonal persistent precipitation reduction in SWC are the extreme negative phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)in the North Pacific as well as the pronounced warming of the warm pool in the western *** key dynamic processes are outlined as *** the one hand,the negative PDO p

*** In recent years,China has carried out an extensive preventative battle against air,water,and soil pollution,and the nation’s environmental quality-as reflected by conventional pollutant indicators—has significantly *** the same time,the issue of emerging contaminants(ECs)is beginning to receive increasing *** generally refer to newly discovered or noticeable pollutants that pose risks to the ecological environment or human *** they have not been included in environmental management,or existing management measures are insufficient to effectively prevent and control their *** ECs of greatest concern generally include persistent organic pollutants(POPs),endocrine-disrupting chemicals(EDCs),pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs),and *** four categories of ECs are not entirely separate,as they interrelate with each other(Fig.1).Chemical production and product usage are the main sources of *** is the world’s largest producer and consumer of bulk chemicals,and the production value of China’s chemical industry is predicted to reach 50%of the global total by 2030[1].Scientific control of ECs based on their environmental risk assessment is a necessary way to support the prevention and legal governance of ECs.

Two-dimensional(2D)anisotropic materials have garnered significant attention in the realm of anisotropic optoelectronic devices due to their remarkable electrical,optical,thermal,and mechanical *** extensive research has delved into the optical and electrical characteristics of these materials,there remains a need for further exploration to identify novel materials and structures capable of fulfilling device requirements under various ***,we employ heterojunction interface engineering with black phosphorus(BP)to disrupt the C_(3) rotational symmetry of monolayer WS_(2).The resulting WS_(2)/BP heterostructure exhibits pronounced anisotropy in exciton emissions,with a measured anisotropic ratio of 1.84 for neutral *** a comprehensive analysis of magnetic-field-dependent and temperature-evolution photoluminescence spectra,we discern varying trends in the polarization ratio,notably observing a substantial anisotropy ratio of 1.94 at a temperature of 1.6 K and a magnetic field of 9 *** dynamic behavior is attributed to the susceptibility of the WS_(2)/BP heterostructure interface strain to fluctuations in magnetic fields and *** findings provide valuable insights into the design of anisotropic optoelectronic devices capable of adaptation to a range of magnetic fields and temperatures,thereby advancing the frontier of material-driven device engineering.

Objective To investigate the effects and mechanisms of olfactory three-needle(OTN)electroacupuncture(EA)stimulation of the olfactory system on cognitive dysfunction,synaptic plasticity,and the gut microbiota in senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8(SAMP8)*** Thirty-six SAMP8 mice were randomly divided into the SAMP8(P8),SAMP8+OTN(P8-OT),and SAMP8+nerve transection+OTN(P8-N-OT)groups according to a random number table(n=12 per group),and 12 accelerated senescence-resistant(SAMR1)mice were used as the control(R1)*** was performed at the Yintang(GV 29)and bilateral Yingxiang(LI 20)acupoints of SAMP8 mice for 4 *** Morris water maze test,transmission electron microscopy,terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)staining,Nissl staining,Golgi staining,Western blot,and 16S rRNA sequencing were performed,*** Compared with the P8 group,OTN improved the cognitive behavior of SAMP8 mice,inhibited neuronal apoptosis,increased neuronal activity,and attenuated hippocampal synaptic dysfunction(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Moreover,the expression levels of synaptic plasticity-related proteins N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 1(NMDAR1),NMDAR2B,synaptophysin(SYN),and postsynaptic density protein-95(PSD95)in hippocampus were increased by OTN treatment(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Furthermore,OTN greatly enhanced the brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)/cAMP-response element binding(CREB)signaling and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin(PI3K/AKT/mTOR)signaling compared with the P8 group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).However,the neuroprotective effect of OTN was attenuated by olfactory nerve *** with the P8 group,OTN had a very limited effect on the fecal microbial structure and composition of SAMP8 mice,while specifically increased the genera Oscillospira and Sutterella(P<0.05).Interestingly,the P8-N-OT group showed an abnormal fecal microbiota with higher microbialα-diversity,Firmicutes/Bacter

Study of deep transportation and plugging performance of deformable gel particles in porous media

Deformable gel particles(DGPs) possess the capability of deep profile control and flooding. However, the deep migration behavior and plugging mechanism along their path remain unclear. Breakage, an inevitable phenomenon during particle migration, significantly impacts the deep plugging effect. Due to the complexity of the process, few studies have been conducted on this subject. In this paper, we conducted DGP flow experiments using a physical model of a multi-point sandpack under various injection rates and particle sizes. Particle size and concentration tests were performed at each measurement point to investigate the transportation behavior of particles in the deep part of the reservoir. The residual resistance coefficient and concentration changes along the porous media were combined to analyze the plugging performance of DGPs. Furthermore, the particle breakage along their path was revealed by analyzing the changes in particle size along the way. A mathematical model of breakage and concentration changes along the path was established. The results showed that the passage after breakage is a significant migration behavior of particles in porous media. The particles were reduced to less than half of their initial size at the front of the porous media. Breakage is an essential reason for the continuous decreases in particle concentration, size, and residual resistance coefficient. However, the particles can remain in porous media after breakage and play a significant role in deep plugging. Higher injection rates or larger particle sizes resulted in faster breakage along the injection direction, higher degrees of breakage, and faster decreases in residual resistance coefficient along the path. These conditions also led to a weaker deep plugging ability. Smaller particles were more evenly retained along the path, but more particles flowed out of the porous media, resulting in a poor deep plugging effect. Regulating luminescent dynamics of lanthanide-based luminescent materials via external stimuli is of great significance in the fields of optical thermometry and high-level ***,it is still a huge challenge to realize multimodal emissions with tunable color outputs from a single activator in simple structures via smart dynamic control of photon transition ***,we present a mechanistic strategy to achieve multimodal luminescence of Er^(3+)activators with color-switchable outputs in a non-core-shell *** the control of excitation dynamics(λ_(ex)=980,808,1532,377 nm),the population among the intermediate en ergy levels of Er^(3+)and the interaction between Er^(3+)and Yb^(3+)could be precisely modulated through energy transfer and migration processes,leading to the generation of colortunable multimodal luminescence upon diverse excitation modes(non-steady-state,single-/dual-wavelength steady,thermal activation).Inspired by its special luminescent performance,the as-obtained material exhibits great potential in noncontact thermometry,multimodal anticounterfeiting,and high-capacity information encryption by performing a series of proof-of-concept *** findings might provide a conceptual model to modulate the luminescent dynamics in a simple-structured system for the generation of color-adjustable multimodal emissions,which is convenient for the development of advanced luminescent materials toward versatile cuttingedge applications.
