Here we report new SHRIMP dating results of the crystal tuff in Ejiaao Formation of middle Banxi Group in northern Guizhou. The results indicate that the volcanic deposition occurred at ~780 Ma. We also suggests that the igneous activities across Yangtze Craton with diabase dyke swarms and basal volcanic rocks during middle Banxi time are indicative of the episodic, extensive and vigorous great bimodal igneous events during middle Neoproterozoic (82.-72. Ma) in South china. The characteristics of the igneous series are contrary to the model claiming they are of island-arc origin, but suggest that they are the records of rifting process and may be related to the episodic plume activities leading to the break-up of Rodinia.

This work presents a promising clinical molecular diagnostics for early stage lung cancer. This novel diagnostic method utilized the loopmediated isothermal amplification （LAMP）, micro fluidic chips and a confocal optical detector with a nonlinear fluorescent filter processor. An isothermal amplification based microfluidic chip for the early diagnostics of lung cancer was developed and a confocal optical detector was improved by a novel real-time fluorescent filter to sensitively monitor the DNA amplification procedure with high signal to noise ratio and fluorescence collecting ability. Experiment showed that a rapid diagnostic of lung cancer by detecting the existence of the CEA mRNA could be performed in only 5 laL of reaction assay in less than 45 min. While the traditional intube RTPCR set consumed more than 2. -μL of the assay and took more than 90 rain.

Site-directed mutagenesis was used to obtain seven variants of tryptic fragment of bovine liver cytochrome bs (cyt bs), in which the negatively charged residues around the heme exposed edge of cyt bs were replaced by hydropho-bic amino acid alanine. Double-site mutants, triple-site mutants and even quadruple-site mutants were obtained. DNA sequencing and molecular weight measurements of the mutant proteins both confirmed that these site-directed muta-genesises were successfully performed. Spectroelectrochem-istry of these mutant proteins revealed that the apparent redox potentials of these mutant proteins caused a positive shift of 2.1. mV. The global structure of these mutant proteins did not show much difference from that of the wild type cyt bs, providing a solid base for the further study on the roles of the proteins’ surface charges.
