Background This retrospective study assessed the efficacy and safety of ketogenic diet therapies in children with epilepsy caused by SLC2A1 genetic mutations and glucose transporter type 1 deficiency *** Pediatric patients with epilepsy symptoms admitted to our medical center between January 2017 and October 2021 were included if they presented with an SLC2A1 genetic mutation on whole-exome *** analyzed the patients’convulsions and treatment with antiepileptic *** patients were followed up at different time periods after ketogenic diet *** Six patients with SLC2A1 mutations were included in this *** patients had seizures of different types and frequencies,and they took antiepileptic drugs to relieve their *** were then treated with a ketogenic diet for at least four *** analyzed epilepsy control rates at 1,2,3,6,and 12 months after ketogenic diet *** patients were seizure-free within a month of receiving the diet *** patients were followed up for six months,three were followed up for 12 months after the treatment,and there was no recurrence of epilepsy during this *** antiepileptic drug withdrawal,none of the patients experienced seizure relapse when receiving ketogenic diet treatment *** severe adverse events occurred during the *** Ketogenic diet therapy is very effective and safe for the treatment of epilepsy caused by SLC2A1 ***,patients with glucose transporter type 1 deficiency syndrome caused by SLC2A1 mutations should begin ketogenic diet treatment as soon as possible.

Mosquito-borne viruses(MBVs)are a large class of viruses transmitted mainly through mosquito bites,including dengue virus,Zika virus,Japanese encephalitis virus,West Nile virus,and chikungunya virus,which pose a major threat to the health of people around the *** global warming and extended human activities,the incidence of many MBVs has increased *** saliva contains a variety of bioactive protein *** not only enable blood feeding but also play a crucial role in regulating local infection at the bite site and the remote dissemination of MBVs as well as in remodeling the innate and adaptive immune responses of host ***,we review the physiological functions of mosquito salivary proteins(MSPs)in detail,the influence and the underlying mechanism of MSPs on the transmission of MBVs,and the current progress and issues that urgently need to be addressed in the research and development of MSP-based MBV transmission blocking vaccines.

Tungsten(W) has been received much attention,since it is regarded as one of the most promising plasma facing materials for fusion *** are two typical morphologies of unirradiated polycrystalline W,which have the equiaxed and columnar grains,***,the role of arrangement of grain boundary(GB) in absorbing irradiation-generated point defects is still waiting to be *** current investigation,irradiation-induced void formations in W with equiaxed and columnar microstructures are predicted,respectively,using the developed phase-field *** significant kinetic behavior,such as the generation and annihilation of point defects and the interaction between point defects and GB,is reasonably *** density,size and porosity of void formed in these two microstructures are examined and analyzed according to the effects of GB ratio,temperature and damage *** analytical results show that higher GB ratio can effectively reduce void porosity,and the columnar-grained structure has better irradiation resistance than that of the equiaxed one in the case of small grain *** importantly,the predicted void sizes changed with temperature and damage rate agree well with the experimentally measured *** work has a more beneficial contribution to the microstructural improvement of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor-grade W.

Preferential orientation control of metal-organic framework (MOF) films is advantageous for maximizing pore uniformity and minimizing grain-boundary defects. Nonetheless, the preparation of MOF films with both in-plane and out-of-plane orientations remains a grand challenge. In this study, we reported the preparation of three-dimensionally oriented MIL-96 layers through combining morphology control of MIL-96 seeds with addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone surfactants and arachidonic acids. The three-dimensionally oriented MIL-96 film was readily obtained through in-plane epitaxial growth. It is anticipated that the aforementioned protocol can be effective for obtaining diverse MOF films with a three-dimensionally oriented organization. Background Patients with decreased cardiac and renal function,as well as old age suffer from poor outcomes when undergoing cardiac *** aim of this study was to evaluate the association of age,creatinine and ejection fraction(ACEF)score with in-hospital prognosis of patients with the acute type A aortic dissection(ATAAD).Methods From September 2017 to June 2021,a total of 435 ATAAD patients undergoing open surgery repair were enrolled,and classified into low ACEF(ACEF score<0.91,n=286)and high ACEF group(ACEF score≥0.91,n=149)according to the optimal cutoff value of *** regression analysis was performed to investigate the association between ACEF score with adverse *** Thirty-five(8.0%)patients were excluded and 94(21.6%)developed in-hospital major adverse clinical events(MACEs)during *** in-hospital mortality in high ACEF group was significantly higher than in low ACEF group(13.4%vs.5.2%,P=0.003).The in-hospital MACE rate was also significantly higher in patients with high ACEF score(high ACEF group:27.5%*** ACEF group:18.5%,P=0.031).Multivariable logistic analysis revealed that ACEF score was an independent indicator for in-hospital mortality[odds ratio(OR):5.66,95%confidence interval(CI):1.43-22.48,P=0.014]and in-hospital MACEs(OR:3.44,95%CI:1.30-9.15,P=0.013).Conclusions Elevated ACEF score was an independent predictor for in-hospital mortality and MACEs in patients with ATAAD undergoing open surgery repair,which might provide additional risk stratification.

Unconventional antiferromagnetism dubbed as altermagnetism was first discovered in rutile structured magnets, which is featured by spin splitting even without the spin-orbital coupling effect. This interesting phenomenon has been discovered in more altermagnetic materials. In this work, we explore two-dimensional altermagnetic materials by studying two series of two-dimensional magnets, including MF4 with M covering all 3d and 4d transition metal elements, as well as TS2 with T = V, Cr, Mn, Fe. Through the magnetic symmetry operation of RuF4 and MnS2, it is verified that breaking the time inversion is a necessary condition for spin splitting. Based on symmetry analysis and first-principles calculations, we find that the electronic bands and magnon dispersion experience alternating spin splitting along the same path. This work paves the way for exploring altermagnetism in two-dimensional materials.
