An Elite-Class Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization for Reentrant Hybrid Flow Shop Scheduling with Bottleneck Stage

Bottleneck stage and reentrance often exist in real-life manufacturing processes;however,the previous research rarely addresses these two processing conditions in a scheduling problem.In this study,a reentrant hybrid flow shop scheduling problem(RHFSP)with a bottleneck stage is considered,and an elite-class teaching-learning-based optimization(ETLBO)algorithm is proposed to minimize maximum completion time.To produce high-quality solutions,teachers are divided into formal ones and substitute ones,and multiple classes are formed.The teacher phase is composed of teacher competition and teacher teaching.The learner phase is replaced with a reinforcement search of the elite class.Adaptive adjustment on teachers and classes is established based on class quality,which is determined by the number of elite solutions in class.Numerous experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of new strategies,and ETLBO has a significant advantage in solving the considered RHFSP.

Effect of kerosene injection states on mixing and combustion characteristics in a cavity-based supersonic combustor

It has been found that the static pressure distribution along the axial direction of liquid kerosene is lower than that of the gaseous kerosene under the same flow condition and overall equivalent ratio from previous studies.To further investigate this phenomenon,a compressible two-phase parallel simulation method is utilized to analyze the mixing and combustion characteristics of gaseous and liquid kerosene jets in a cavity-based supersonic combustor.The numerical results are consistent with the experiments and demonstrate that gaseous injection leads to a cavity shear layer that dives deeper into the cavity,forming two recirculation zones in the front and rear of the cavity.In contrast,the cavity shear layer is closer to the mainstream during liquid injection,and only a large recirculation zone is formed in the rear of the cavity.As a result of the cavity shear layer and the recirculating flow,the fuel vapor of gaseous injection accumulates in the front of the cavity,while for the liquid injection,the fuel vapor disperses in the cavity,cavity shear layer,and the region above,and the rear of the cavity has a higher fuel vapor concentration than the front.This unique fuel distribution causes the combustion area to be concentrated in the cavity during the gaseous injection but dispersed inside and downstream of the cavity during the liquid injection.As a result,forming a thermal throat under the same conditions is more challenging during liquid injection,and the generated static pressure distribution is lower than that during the gaseous injection.

Drag reduction characteristics of recirculation flow at rocket base in an RBCC engine under ramjet/scramjet mode

To reduce the drag generated by the recirculation flow at the rocket base in a RocketBased Combined Cycle(RBCC)engine operating in the ramjet/scramjet mode,a novel annular rocket RBCC engine based on a central plug cone was proposed.The performance loss mechanism caused by the recirculation flow at the rocket base and the influence of the plug cone configuration on the thrust performance were studied.Results indicated that the recirculation flow at the rocket base extended through the entire combustor,which creates an extensive range of the"low-kineticenergy zone"at the center and leads to an engine thrust loss.The plug cone serving as a surface structure had a restrictive effect on the internal flow of the engine,making it smoothly transit at the position of the large separation zone.The model RBCC engine could achieve a maximum thrust augmentation of 37.6%with a long plug cone that was twice diameter of the inner isolator.However,a shorter plug cone that was half diameter of the inner isolator proved less effective at reducing the recirculation flow for a supersonic flow and induced an undesirable flow fraction that diminished the thrust performance.Furthermore,the effectiveness of the plug cone increased with the flight Mach number,indicating that it could further broaden the operating speed range of the scramjet mode.

Photocatalytic oxidation of methane to value-added chemicals is a promising process under mild conditions,nevertheless confronting great challenges in efficiently activating C-H bonds and inhibiting over-oxidation.Herein,we propose a comprehensive strategy for the selective generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)by regulating the sizes and facets of Au nanoparticles loaded on ZnO.For photocatalytic methane oxidation at ambient temperature,a high oxygenates yield of 36.4 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) with a nearly 100%selectivity has been achieved over the optimized 1.0%Au/ZnO-9.6(1%Au with(111)facet and 9.6 nm size on ZnO)photocatalyst,exceeding most reported literatures.Mechanism investigations reveal that 1.0%Au/ZnO-9.6 with the medium size and Au(111)facet guarantees the favourable formation of superoxide radicals(·OOH)through mild oxygen reduction,ultimately leading to excellent photocatalytic methane oxidation performance.This work provides some guidance for the delicate design of photocatalysts for efficient photocatalytic methane oxidation and oxygen utilization.

Interfacial Reaction of Ti6Al4V Lattice Structure-Reinforced VW92 Alloy Matrix Composites

A novel melting infiltration by ultrasonic vibration was investigated and applied to fabricate Ti6Al4V(TC4)lattice structure-reinforced Mg-10Gd-2Y-1Zn-xZr(refer to VW92 hereafter,x=0,0.5 wt%)alloy matrix composites.The edge-to-edge matching model indicates that the well-matching and possible orientation relationships(ORs)between theα-Mg andα-Ti,[10-10]_(α-Mg)//[11-23]_(α-Ti) in(0002)_(α-Mg)//(10-10)_(α-Ti) possesses the smallest misfit of 0.4%(f_(r)),and thus theα-Mg grains can nucleate on the TC4 lattice structure.Interfacial reaction occurred in the TC4/VW92+0.5 wt%Zr composites,and the reaction product was confirmed to be Al_(2)Zr_(3),AlZr_(2) andα-Ti(Zr)particles formed by continuous solution of Zr-Ti.Among the interfacial products,the AlZr_(2) phase is a brittle phase with high-volume fraction,which is not conducive to the load transfer.But generally speaking,theα-Ti(Zr)and theα-Mg tend to form a coherent interface,which is beneficial for improving the interfacial bonding strength of composites.

In the field of bone defect repair,critical requirements for favorable cytocompatibility and optimal mechanical properties have propelled research efforts towards the development of composite materials.In this study,carbon nanotubes/polylactic acid/hydroxyapatite(CNTs/PLA/HA)scaffolds with different contents(0.5,1,1.5 and 2 wt.%)of CNTs were prepared by the thermally induced phase separation(TIPS)method.The results revealed that the composite scaffolds had uniform pores with high porosities over 68%and high through performances.The addition of CNTs significantly enhanced the mechanical properties of resulted PLA/HA,in which the 1.5 wt.%CNTs/PLA/HA composite scaffold demonstrated the optimum mechanical behaviors with the bending elastic modulus of(868.5±12.34)MPa,the tensile elastic modulus of(209.51±12.73)MPa,and the tensile strength of(3.26±0.61)MPa.Furthermore,L929 cells on the 1.5 wt.%CNTs/PLA/HA scaffold displayed good spreading performance and favorable cytocompatibility.Therefore,it is expected that the 1.5 wt.%CNTs/PLA/HA scaffold has potential applications in bone tissue engineering.

Introduction:DNA polymerases are crucial for maintaining genome stability and influencing tumorigenesis.However,the clinical implications of DNA polymerases in tumorigenesis and their potential as anti-cancer therapy targets are not well understood.Methods:We conducted a systematic analysis using TCGA Pan-Cancer Atlas data and Gene Set Cancer Analysis results to examine the expression profiles of 15 DNA polymerases(POLYs)and their clinical correlations.We also evaluated the prognostic value of POLYs by analyzing their expression levels in relation to overall survival time(OS)using Kaplan-Meier survival curves.Additionally,we investigated the correlations between POLY expression and immune cells,DNA damage repair(DDR)pathways,and ubiquitination.Drug sensitivity analysis was performed to assess the relationship between POLY expression and drug response.Results:Our analysis revealed that 14 out of 15 POLYs exhibited significantly distinct expression patterns between tumor and normal samples across most cancer types,except for DNA nucleotidylexotransferase(DNTT).Specifically,POLD1 and POLE showed elevated expression in almost all cancers,while POLQ exhibited high expression levels in all cancer types.Some POLYs showed heightened expression in specific cancer subtypes,while others exhibited low expression.Kaplan-Meier survival curves demonstrated significant prognostic value of POLYs in multiple cancers,including PAAD,KIRC,and ACC.Cox analysis further validated these findings.Alteration patterns of POLYs varied significantly among different cancer types and were associated with poorer survival outcomes.Significant correlations were observed between the expression of POLY members and immune cells,DDR pathways,and ubiquitination.Drug sensitivity analysis indicated an inverse relationship between POLY expression and drug response.Conclusion:Our comprehensive study highlights the significant role of POLYs in cancer development and identifies them as promising prognostic and immunological biomarkers for various cancer type

Integrated Polarity Optimization of MPRM Circuits Based on Improved Multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization

Aiming at the multi-objective polarity design of Mixed-polarity Reed-Muller(MPRM) circuit,such as small area and low power consumption, an integrated polarity optimization scheme based on improved Multi-objective particle swarm optimization(MOPSO) is proposed. In the Improved MOPSO(IMOPSO) algorithm,particles in the external archive can be actively evolved through self-learning operations to find better circuit polarity. The particles in the population achieve selflearning fractals by comparing the differences between their own states and individuals in external archive to enhance the evolutionary level of the population. A multiobjective decision model of area and power consumption is established according to the characteristics of MPRM circuit. The tabular technique and the IMPOPO algorithm are combined to obtain the Pareto optimal polarity set of the MPRM circuit for area and power consumption. The MCNC Benchmark circuit is used to test the performance of the algorithm. The results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Assessment of tree-ring mercury radial translocation and age effect in Masson pine:Implications for historical atmospheric mercury reconstruction

The tree ring has been regarded as an emerging archive to reconstruct historical atmospheric mercury(Hg)trends,but with the large knowledge gaps in the reliability.In this study,we comprehensively evaluated the Hg source,radial translocation and age effect of Masson pine(Pinus massoniana)tree ring at Mt.Jinyun in Chongqing,to assess the suitability of such tree ring as the archive of atmospheric Hg.Results showed that distinct variabilities among Masson pine tree-ring Hg concentration profiles.The Hg concentration significantly increased along with stem height(P<0.05),indicating the Hg in tree rings mainly derived from foliage uptake atmospheric Hg.We found a distinct age effect that the tree ring of young trees had the higher Hg concentration.Besides,we used the advection-diffusion model to demonstrate how Hg concentration shifted by the advection or/and diffusion in tree rings.The modeling results showed that the advection induced radial translocation during the young growth period of tree was a plausible mechanism to result in the tree-ring Hg record largely different from the trend of anthropogenic Hg emissions in Chongqing.We finally suggest that in further Hg dendrochemistry,better discarding the tree-ring Hg profile of the young growth period to reduce impacts of the radial translocation and age effect.
