Evaluation of retinal and choroidal thickness changes in overweight and obese adults without ocular symptoms by swept-source optical coherence tomography

AIM:To evaluate the relationship of overweight and obesity with retinal and choroidal thickness in adults without ocular symptoms by swept-source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT).METHODS:According to the body mass index(BMI)results,the adults enrolled in the cross-sectional study were divided into the normal group(18.50≤BMI2..00 kg/m^(2.),the overweight group(2..00≤BMI2.),and the obesity group(BMI≥30.00 kg/m^(2.).The one-way ANOVA and the Chi-square test were used for ***’s correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationships between the measured ***:This research covered the left eyes of 3 groups of 434 age-and sex-matched subjects each:normal,overweight,and *** mean BMI was 2..2.±1.67,2..82.1.38,and 32.2.±2.35 kg/m^(2. in normal,overweight and obesity groups,*** choroid was significantly thinner in both the overweight and obesity groups compared to the normal group(P<0.05 for all),while the retinal thickness of the three groups did not differ ***’s correlation analysis showed that BMI was significantly negatively correlated with choroidal thickness,but no significant correlation was observed between BMI and retinal ***:Choroidal thickness is decreased in people with overweight or *** on changes in choroidal thickness contributes to the understanding of the mechanisms of certain ocular disorders in overweight and obese adults.

Owing to the broad energy coverage of Insight-HXMT in the hard X-ray band,we detected the highest energy of pulsation exceeding 2.0 keV around the 2.17–2.18 outburst peak of the first Galactic pulsating ultraluminous X-ray source (PULX) Swift J02.3.6+612.,which is the highest energy detected from PULXs to *** also obtained the highest energy of pulsation of every exposure during the outburst in 2.17–2.18,and found the highest energy is roughly positively correlated with *** our newly developed method,we identified the critical luminosity being 4×10^(38)erg s^(-1) when the main peaks of the low and high energy pulse profiles became aligned,which separates the fan-beam dominated and pencil-beam dominated accretion *** the critical luminosity,the phase of the main peak shifted gradually from 0.5 to 0.8 until the outburst peak in al energy bands is reached,which is in agreement with the phase shift found previously at low *** result is consistent with what is derived from spectral analysis.

Developing cost-effective electrocatalysts with high activity and stability especially at high current density is of great significance for the large-scale commercial application of electrochemical water splitting to hydrogen production but still remains ***,we report an effective confinement pyrolysis strategy to fabricate embedded ruthenium-cobalt nanoclusters supported on N-doped porous two-dimensional carbon nanosheets(RuCo@CN).Markedly,the embedded structure can effectively prevent the migration,agglomeration,and leaching of nanoparticles,thus endowing the RuCo@CN catalyst with high *** be exact,high stability with up to 650 h can be achieved at high current density(-500 and-1000 mA·cm^(-2.).Besides,the RuCo@CN catalysts also exhibit highly reactive with low overpotentials of only 11mV at-10 mA·cm^(-2..Density functional theory calculations reveal that the introduction of cobalt reduces the decomposition barrier of H_(2.O for RuCo@CN alloy,thus promoting hydrogen evolution reaction.

Type I interferon(IFN)inhibits a wide spectrum of viruses through stimulating the expression of antiviral *** an IFN-induced protein,myxovirus resistance B(MXB)protein was reported to inhibit multiple highly pathogenic human *** remains to be determined whether MXB employs a common mechanism to restrict different ***,we find that IFN alters the subcellular localization of hundreds of host proteins,and this IFN effect is partially lost upon MXB *** results of our mechanistic study reveal that MXB recognizes vimentin(VIM)and recruits protein kinase B(AKT)to phosphorylate VIM at amino acid S38,which leads to reorganization of the VIM network and impairment of intracellular trafficking of virus protein complexes,hence causing a restriction of virus *** results highlight a new function of MXB in modulating VIM-mediated trafficking,which may lead towards a novel broad-spectrum antiviral strategy to control a large group of viruses that depend on VIM for successful replication.

Melittin,a classical antimicrobial peptide,is a highly potent antitumor ***,its significant toxicity seriously hampers its application in tumor *** this study,we developed novel melittin analogs with pH-responsive,cell-penetrating and membranelytic activities by replacing arginine and lysine with *** conjugation with camptothecin(CPT),CPT-AAM-1 and CPT-AAM-2.were capable of killing tumor cells by releasing CPT at low concentrations and disrupting cell membranes at high concentrations under acidic ***,we found that the C-terminus of the melittin analogs was more suitable for drug conjugation than the ***-AAM-1 significantly suppressed melanoma growth in vivo with relatively low ***,the present study demonstrates that the development of antitumor drugs based on pH-responsive antimicrobial peptide-drug conjugates is a promising strategy.

The Songshugang deposit is a large Ta-Nb deposit in South china,with Ta-Nb mineralization associated genetically with the granite and pegmatite.A diversity of quartz from topaz-albite granite,quartz-mica pegmatite,quartz-feldspar pegmatite,and quartz-fluorite pegmatite at Songshugang was studied by CL and LA-ICP-MS in order to constrain enrichment mechanisms of Nb and Ta and to find geochemical indicators of quartz for rare metal *** image illuminates a canvas of complexity,the quartz from topaz-albite granite,quartz-mica pegmatite,quartz-feldspar pegmatite,and quartz-fluorite pegmatite,exhibits numerous dark CL streaks,patches,and a series of healed *** textures suggest that the rocks were fractured because of deep crustal pressure,and underwent later hydrothermal metasomatism and quartz *** quartz from quartz-fluorite pegmatite present limited patches or fractures but distinct growth bands,indicating that the melt fluid composition during the formation of quartz at this stage varies greatly and is less aff ected by mechanical *** LA-ICP-MS analysis of quartz shows that there is a positive correlation between Al and Li in the quartz from topaz-albite granite,quartz-mica pegmatite,quartz-feldspar pegmatite,to quartz-fluorite pegmatite,indicating that Al mainly enters the quartz lattice through charge compensation substitution mechanism with ***,our data deviate from the theoretical Li:Al mass ratio of~1:3.89 in quartz,indicating that there may be competition between H^(+)and Li in a water-rich magmatic *** quartz from topaz-albite granite is enriched in K and Na elements,and the quartz from quartz-fluorite pegmatite is enriched in fluorite with a low Ca content in quartz,further elucidating that these rocks were subjected to hydrothermal *** topaz-albitite granite to quartz-fluorite pegmatite,Al,Li and Ge content and Al/Ti,Ge/Ti,Sb/Ti ratios in quartz gradually increased,but

The efficient separation of chalcopyrite(CuFeS2.and galena(PbS)is essential for optimal resource ***,find-ing a selective depressant that is environmentally friendly and cost effective remains a *** various techniques,such as mi-croflotation tests,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)observation,X-ray photoelectron spec-troscopy(XPS),and Raman spectroscopy measurements,this study explored the use of ferric ions(Fe^(3+))as a selective depressant for *** results of flotation tests revealed the impressive selective inhibition capabilities of Fe^(3+)when used *** analysis showed that Fe^(3+)significantly reduced the adsorption of isopropyl ethyl thionocarbamate(IPETC)on the galena surface while having a minimal impact on *** analysis using SEM,XPS,and Raman spectra revealed that Fe^(3+)can oxidize lead sulfide to form compact lead sulfate nanoparticles on the galena surface,effectively depressing IPETC adsorption and increasing surface *** findings provide a promising solution for the efficient and environmentally responsible separation of chalcopyrite and galena.
