Evaluating Water Withdrawals for Regional Water Management Under a Data-driven Framework

With an increase in population and economic development,water withdrawals are close to or even exceed the amount of water available in many regions of the *** water withdrawals could help water planners improve the efficiency of water use,water resources allocation,and management in order to alleviate water ***,minimal information has been obtained on how water withdrawals have changed over space and time,especially on a regional or local *** research proposes a data-driven framework to help estimate county-level distribution of water *** this framework,spatial statistical methods are used to estimate water withdrawals for agricultural,industrial,and domestic purposes in the Huaihe River watershed in China for the period 1978–*** water withdrawals were found to have more than doubled,from 292.55×10^(8)m^(3) in 1978 to 642.93×10^(8)m^(3) in 2009,and decreased to 602.63×10^(8)m^(3) in *** water increased from 208.17×10^(8)m^(3) in 1978 to 435.80×10^(8)m^(3) in 2009 and decreased to 360.84×10^(8)m^(3) in *** and domestic water usage constantly increased throughout the 1978–2018 *** 1978,industrial and domestic demands were 20.35×10^(8)m^(3) and 60.04×10^(8)m^(3),respectively,and up until 2018,the figures were 105.58×10^(8)m^(3) and 136.20×10^(8)m^(3).From a spatial distribution perspective,Moran’s I statistical results show that the total water withdrawal has significant spatial autocorrelation during 1978–*** overall trend was a gradual increase in 1978–2010 with withdrawal beginning to decline in 2010–*** results of Getis-Ord G_(i)^(*)statistical calculations showed spatially contiguous clusters of total water withdrawal in the Huaihe River watershed during1978–2010,and the spatial agglomeration weakened from 2010 to *** study provides a data-driven framework for assessing water withdrawals to enable a deeper understanding of competing water use among economic sectors a

In this paper,we study the joint bandwidth allocation and path selection problem,which is an extension of the well-known network utility maximization(NUM)problem,via solving a multi-objective minimization problem under path cardinality ***,such a problem formulation captures various types of objectives including proportional fairness,average delay,as well as load *** addition,in order to handle the"unsplittable flows",path cardinality constraints are added,making the resulting optimization problem quite challenging to solve due to intrinsic nonsmoothness and *** all existing works deal with such a problem using relaxation techniques to transform it into a convex optimization ***,we provide a novel solution framework based on the linearized alternating direction method of multipliers(LADMM)to split the original problem with coupling terms into several *** then derive that these subproblems,albeit nonconvex nonsmooth,are actually simple to solve and easy to implement,which can be of independent *** some mild assumptions,we prove that any limiting point of the generated sequence of the proposed algorithm is a stationary *** simulations are performed to demonstrate the advantages of our proposed algorithm compared with various baselines.

The exploitation of renewable energy has become a pressing task due to climate change and the recent energy crisis caused by regional *** has further accelerated the rapid development of the global photovoltaic(PV)market,thereby making the management and maintenance of solar photovoltaic(SPV)panels a new area of business as neglecting it may lead to significant financial losses and failure to combat climate change and the energy *** panels face many risks that may degrade their power generation performance,damage their structures,or even cause the complete loss of their power generation capacity during their long service *** is hoped that these problems can be identified and resolved as soon as ***,this is a challenging task as a solar power plant(SPP)may contain hundreds even thousands of SPV *** provide a potential solution for this issue,a smart drone-based SPV panel condition monitoring(CM)technique has been studied in this *** the study,the U-Net neural network(UNNN),which is ideal for undertaking image segmentation tasks and good at handling small sample size problem,is adopted to automatically create mask images from the collected true color thermal infrared *** support vector machine(SVM),which performs very well in highdimensional feature spaces and is therefore good at image recognition,is employed to classifying the mask images generated by the *** research result has shown that with the aid of the UNNN and SVM,the thermal infrared images that are remotely collected by drones from SPPs can be automatically and effectively processed,analyzed,and classified with reasonable accuracy(over 80%).Particularly,the mask images produced by the trained UNNN,which contain less interference items than true color thermal infrared images,significantly benefit the assessing accuracy of the health state of SPV *** is anticipated that the technical approach presented in this paper will serve as an inspiration

Dynamic evolutions of ecological carrying capacity in poor areas using ecological footprint model at Ruyang County of China

In this study,the ecological footprint(EF)from 2004 to 2013 of a poor county chosen from Central China was measured and analyzed by using the methodology and theory of *** results showed that in the past 10 years,the county’s ecological footprint per capita was growing gradually,increasing from 0.7053 hm^(2)in 2004 to 1.4473 hm^(2)in 2013,with growth clearly accelerated in recent *** the same period,the ecological carrying capacity per capita reduced from 0.6351 hm^(2)to 0.5018 hm^(2).Additionally,regional development had been in a state of ecological deficit,per capita ecological deficit increased from 0.0702 hm^(2)to 0.9456 hm^(2).This led to contradictions between regional socio-economic development and sustainability of natural ecosystems,meaning the development of the region is *** to reduce the ecological deficit were proposed to coordinate regional industrialization,urbanization,ecological environmental protection,and to promote the sustainable development in the region(*** industrial structure and consumption structure,promoting economic transformation,scientific planning and management of land).The results could provide a scientific basis for studies on ecological carrying capacity of the poor areas in Central China.

Dimeric sesquiterpenoids possessing densely substituted 7-norbornenone/7-norbornenol motifs pose a considerable challenge for chemical synthesis. From a strategic perspective, one could envision intermolecular Diels-Alder cycloaddition as a straightforward method for assembling alkyl-substituted 7-norbornenones. However, this approach is hindered by lability of the required dienes, namely alkylsubstituted cyclopentadienones. Here we report a one-pot protocol for construction of alkyl-substituted7-norbornenones from electron-deficient olefins and a cyclopentenone derivative. DDQ was found to be an effective oxidant for generating a cyclopentadienone intermediate in situ from the enone. A series of sterically congested 7-norbornenone-containing polycyclic compounds were prepared by using this protocol.

Mechanical behaviours of bedded sandstone under hydromechanical coupling

The combination of the dipping effect and hydromechanical(H-M)coupling effect can easily lead to water inrush disasters in water-rich roadways with different dip angles in coal ***,H-M coupling tests of bedded sandstones under identical osmotic pressure and various confining pressures were ***,the evolution curves of stress-strain,permeability and damage,macro-and mesoscopic failure characteristics were ***,the mechanical behaviour was characterized,and finally the failure mechanism was *** results showed that:(1)The failure of the sandstone with the bedding angle of 45°or 60°was the structure-dominant type,while that with the bedding angle of 0°,30°or 90°was the force-dominant type.(2)When the bedding angle was in the range of(0°,30°)or(45°,90°),the confining pressure played a dominant role in influencing the peak ***,withinβ∈(30°,45°),the bedding effect played a dominant role in the peak strength.(3)With the increase in bedding angle,the cohesion increased first,then decreased and finally increased,while the internal friction angle was the opposite.(4)When the bedding angle was 0°or 30°,the“water wedging”effect and the“bedding buckling”effect would lead to the forking or converging shear *** the bedding angle was 45°or 60°,the sliding friction effect would lead to the shear slipping *** the bedding angle was 90°,the combination of the“bedding buckling”effect and shear effect would lead to the mixed tension-shear *** above conclusions obtained are helpful for the prevention of water inrush disasters in water-rich roadways with different dips in coal mines.

New phenylbutenoids and terpene glycosides from Ginkgo biloba leaves

Our continued works on the chemical constituents of Ginkgo biloba(***)leaves has led to the isolation of two novel phenylbutenoids(1,2),along with five previously unidentified terpene glycosides(3−7).Among them,compounds 1 and 2 represent unique(Z)-phenylbutenoids,3−6 are megastigmane glycosides,and 7 is identified as a rare bilobanone glycoside(Fig.1).This study marks the first reported isolation of phenylbutenoid and bilobanone glycoside from *** chemical structures of these compounds were elucidated through extensive spectroscopic analysis,including HR-ESI-MS and various 1D and 2D NMR ***,the absolute configurations of these molecules were determined using Mosher’s method,ECD experiments,and Cu-KαX-ray crystallographic analyses.

A Numerical Study of the Evolution of a Mesoscale Convective Vortex on the Meiyu Front

The Advanced Research WRF（Weather Research and Forecasting） model is used to simulate the evolution of a mesoscale convective vortex（MCV） that formed on the Meiyu front and lasted for more than two days. The simulation is used to investigate the underlying reasons for the genesis, intensification, and vertical expansion of the MCV. This MCV is of a type of mid-level MCV that often develops in the stratiform regions of mesoscale convective systems. The vortex strengthened and reached its maximum intensity and vertical extent（from the surface to upper levels） when secondary organized convection developed within the mid-level circulation. The factors controling the evolution of the kinetic and thermal structure of the MCV are examined through an analysis of the budgets of vorticity, temperature, and energy. The evolution of the local Rossby radius of deformation reveals the interrelated nature of the MCV and its parent mesoscale convective system.
