Non-Fourier heat conduction study for steady states in metallic nanofilms

As a fundamental theory of heat transfer, Fourier's law is valid for most traditional conditions. Research interest in non-Fourier heat conditions is mainly focused on heat wave phenomena in non-steady states. Recently, the thermomass theory posited that, for steady states, non-Fourier heat conduction behavior could also be observed under ultra-high heat flux conditions at low ambient temperatures. Significantly, this is due to thermomass inertia. We report on heat conduction in metallic nanofilms from large currents at low temperatures; heat fluxes of more than 1×1010 W m 2 were used. The measured average temperature of the nanofilm is larger than that based on Fourier's law, with temperature differences increasing as heat flux increased and ambient temperature decreased. Experimental results for different film samples at different ambient temperatures reveal that non-Fourier behavior exists in metallic nanofilms in agreement with predictions from thermomass theory.

By statistically analyzing the condensation process and reconsidering the transition state theory for condensation and evaporation, we first presented a completed theoretical formula of the condensation coefficient. Namely, the unknown parameters contained within the transition state theoretical calculation of the condensation coefficient are determined. The condensation coefficients calculated from this formula agree well with those from molecular dynamics simulations. With this formula, the classical expression of the condensation flux developed from the gas kinetic theory can be used to predict the condensation flux.

Dual-ion batteries(DIBs) have attracted immense interest as a new generation of energy storage device due to their low cost,environmental friendliness and high working ***,developing DIBs using organic compounds as active electrode materials is in its ***,we first report a bipolar and self-polymerized Cu phthalocyanine(CuTAPc) as an electrode material for sodium-based DIBs(SDIBs).Benefitting from the bipolar property,CuTAPc could serve as the cathode or anode material to construct metal sodium-based or metal sodium-free SDIB(cell 1 or 2) by coupling with sodium anode or graphite cathode,*** a result,cell 1 displays a high discharge capacity of 195.7 mAh g^(-1) at 50 mA g^(-1) and a high reversible capacity of 57 mAh g^(-1) over 2500 cycles at 1 A g^(-1),and cell 2 shows a high energy density of 324 Wh kg^(-1) and a high power density of 7481 W kg^(-1).Subsequently,the proposed binding mechanism and the bipolar reactivity of CuTAPc have been revealed by the detailed reaction kinetic analysis and ex-situ techniques as well as the density functional theory(DFT) *** work could open a pathway to develop the advanced SDIBs constructed by elemental abundant and environmentally friendly organic materials.

In general,thermal processes can be classified into two categories: heat-work conversion processes and heat transfer processes. Correspondingly,the optimization of thermal processes has to have two different criteria:the well known entropy generation minimization method and the recently proposed entransy dissipation maximization method. This study analyzes the thermal issues in a heat exchanger group,and optimizes the unit arrangements under different constraints based on a suitable optimization crite-rion. The result indicates that the principle of minimum entropy generation rate is valid for optimizing heat exchangers in a ther-modynamic cycle with given boundary temperatures. In contrast,the entransy dissipation maximization is more suitable in heat exchanger optimizations involving only heat transfer processes. Furthermore,the entropy generation rate induced by dumping used streams into ambient surroundings has to be taken into account,except for that originating from the hot and cold-ends of heat exchangers,when using the entropy generation minimization to optimize heat exchangers undergoing a thermodynamic cycle.

Tempering mechanism of lath martensite induced in IF steel under high pressure

In this paper,low-and high-strength lath martensite(350 and 640 HV)was fabricated in an IF steel via high pressure martensitic *** microstructure and the softening during their tempering from 200°C to 800°C for 1 h were systematically investigated.A carbon-irrelevant tempering process was proposed,exhibiting a three-stage structural evolution pattern depending upon the tempering de-gree(1-(HV-HV FP)/(HV NP-HV FP),where the HV is the instant hardness,HV NP is the non-tempered hard-ness and HV FP is the fully tempered hardness):(1)low tempered(50%),clearing up the remained variant laths via the migration of the triple ***-type microstructure is tailored by low-index lamellar variant boundaries and is thus intrinsically thermally stable,whereas the mobile terminal tips decrease the tempering *** underlying mechanism for such carbon-irrelevant process was discussed and the potential effect on the tempering behavior of carbon-contained martensite was highlighted.

The molecular dynamics method is employed to simulate the liquid-vapor nucleation processes. The results show that the initial stage of nucleus in nucleation process is cavity or space containing very few vapor molecules. Because of the very limited size of the simulation domain in previous reports, further growth of the nucleus has not been realized. Large scale molecular dynamics simulation of liquid-vapor nucleation indicates that the liquid-vapor nucleation process undergoes at least three stages: cavity growth, cavity coales-cence, bubble formation.

Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA)can lead to sleep deprivation,accidents,and cardiovascular ***,research on the short-term effects of air pollutants on OSA severity is limited and *** conducted a novel case time series analysis using a nationwide dataset among Huawei smart device users to assess the association between air pollution and OSA severity in a population at moderate-to-severe risk of ***-effects regression models were used to assess the associations between air pollution and the risk of OSA exacerbation,apnea-hypopnea index(AH),and oxygen saturation.A total of 51,842 participants who were at moder-ate-tosevere risk of OSA(mean age[SD]:45.4[11.0],95.5%male)were included,with 6,232,056 person-days of *** as sociations of fine particulate matter,nitrogen dioxide,carbon monoxide,and sulfur dioxide with OSA severity could occur during the sleep period,and last for 2 *** increase of 1 interquartile range in the moving average concentrations of air pollution during the sleep period and the 2 previous days was associated with a 1.14%-4.31%increase in the risk of OSA exacerbation,an increase in AHI by 0.05-0.17 events/h,and a decrease in oxygen saturation(%)by *** exposure-response curves were almost *** associations between air pollutants and OSA were consistently stronger in participants aged 45 years or *** virtue of the smart device-based technology,this largescale,nationwide,longitudinal study provides compelling evidence that short-term exposure to air pollution may worsen sleep *** findings highlight the significance of ongoing efforts to improve air quality in mitigating OSA severity and the relevant disease burden in an aging era.
