The condensation of acetylacetone （CH3COCH2COCH3） with benzdine （H2N-C6H4-C6H4-NH2） yielded diimine ligand 1 [HOC（Me）C（H）（Me）C=N（p-C6H4）（C6H4-p）N= C（Me）C（H）C（Me）OH）], which was converted into sodium salts. And then the sodium salts reacted with monosalicylaldiminato titanium complex 2{[3,5-di-But′2-（O）C6H2CHN（PH）]TiCl3（THF）} in dried dichloromethane to give a new benzdine-bridged binuclear complex 3{[3,5-di-Bu′-2-（O）C6H2CHN（PH）]2 [OC（Me）C（H）（Me）C=N（p-C6H4）-（C6H4-p）N=C（Me）C（H） C（Me）]Ti2Cl4}. The complex 3 was characterized by ^1HNMR and elemental analysis. In the presence of mao（methylaluminoxane）, the complex 3 in toluene was effective to catalyze polymerization, affording moderately high catalytic activity 1.93 × 10^5 g PE/（***.h）]and high molecular weight polyethylene [5.63× 10^5 g/moll. The high temperature gel permeation chromatography （GPC） curve of polyethylene obtained revealed a single peak, but the molecular weight distribution （MWD = 3.21） is obviously broader than that of the similar mononuclear titanium complex. The melting points of the obtained polyethylene reaches 138 ℃, indicating that the polyethylene is of high crystallinity.

RNA modifications have been involved in numerous biological processes, and aberrations of these modifications are tightly associated with various diseases including cancer. Herein, we developed graphenebased solid-phase extraction and robust ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS) combined with stable isotope-dilution for simultaneous enrichment and accurate determination of 17 modified nucleosides in human urine. We found graphene could effectively adsorb various modified nucleosides in human urine samples. With this method, we identified and quantified these modified nucleosides in urine samples collected from lung cancer patients and healthy *** revealed that the levels of 12 modified nucleosides were all diminished in urine from lung cancer patients, compared with healthy controls. It is worth noting that we demonstrated, for the first time, the presence of 5,2-O-dimethyluridine(m~5U_m) in human urine. Together, we established a robust analytical method for simultaneous determinations of 17 modified nucleosides in human urine, and our results revealed a close correlation between the concentrations of urinary modified nucleosides and the occurrence of lung cancer, implying the potential applications of these modified nucleosides as noninvasive biomarkers for the early detection of lung cancer. Moreover, this study will stimulate future investigations on the regulatory roles of RNA modifications in the initiation and progression of lung cancer.

The Variation of β-glucan and Protein Content in Barley as Affected by Agronomic Practices

The influences of N application rate, timing, sowing date and seeding rate on β-glucan and protein content in barley grains were studied through the field experiments in hangzhou, china.during 1997 -2001. Protein content increased with N application rate and with N proportion applied at late stage. β-glucan content also responded significantly to N application rate and timing, but with different pattern with protein content. Of three N rate treatments, the medium N rate (135 kg ha-1) had the highest β-glucan content, being significantly higher than low N rate (90 kg ha-1) and no difference with high N rate (180 kg ha-1). A-mong three N timing treatments, two times of N top-dressing at both tillering and booting stage had significantly higher β-glucan content than once N top-dressing at tillering or booting stage. Sowing date has the dramatic effect on both β-glucan and protein content. Protein content decreased with the delayed sowing, and kernel weight showed opposite tendency. Either earlier or later sowing caused increased β-glucan content relative to sowing in early November, which is the normal date for barley sowing locally. Seeding rate had no significant influence on both β-glucan and protein content.

BACKGROUND: Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury may induce intestinal microflora imbalance. Salvia miltiorrhiza is effective in promoting blood circulation and counteracting peroxidation in tissues. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza on intestinal mi- croflora, endotoxemia, and bacterial translocation in rats with hepatic I/R injury. METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats in specific pathogen free grade were divided into 3 groups: group I(n =6) for sham operation: groups ( n = 7) for liver ische- mia for 20 minutes and reperfusion for 22 hours. Group was also pretreated with 4 ml/day of Salvia miltiorrhiza solu- tion (250 mg/kg) by daily gavage for 7 days. The levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate amino- transferase (AST), malondialdehyde ( MDA) and supero- xide dismutase ( SOD ) in liver tissues, serum endotoxin, intestinal bacterial counts, intestinal mucosal histology and bacterial translocation were studied. RESULTS: The levels of ALT, AST, plasma endotoxin and MDA in liver tissues were decreased more markedly in group (57.57 ± 18.08 U/L, 147.57 ±40.84 U/L, 0.42 ± 0.144 EU/ml and 0. 52 ±0.19 nmol/mg-prot respectively) in group 295.9±216.92 U/L, 0.80± 0.262 EU/ml and 0.72±0.12 nmol/mg-prot; P <0.05-0.01 respectively). Liver SOD activity was increased more sig- nificantly in group (318.47±64.62 U/mg-prot) than in group U/mg-prot, P<0.05). The counts of Bifidobacteria and Bacteroides increased more significantly in group than in group but were similar to those in group I. Bacterial translocation to the kidney in group was 50% (5/10), whereas no bacterial translocation to the kidney occurred in the other two groups (P <0. 01). Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment of traumatic hemothorax by closed pleural drainage using a central venous catheter(CVC),compared with using a conventional chest ***:A prospective controlled study with the Ethics Committee approval was undertaken.A total of 407 patients with traumatic hemothorax were involved and they were randomly assigned to undergo closed pleural drainage with CVCs(n=214) or conventional chest tubes(n=193).The Seldinger technique was used for drainage by CVC,and the conventional technique for drainage by chest *** the residual volume of the hemothorax was less than 200 ml after the daily volume of drainage decreased to below 100 ml for two consecutive days,the treatment was considered *** correlative data of efficacy and safety between the two groups were analyzed using t or chi-squared tests with SPSS 13.0.A P value of less than 0.05 was taken as indicating statistical ***:Compared with the chest tube group,the operation time,fraction of analgesic treatment,time of surgical wound healing,and infection rate of surgical wounds were significantly decreased(P0.05),or in the mean catheter/tube indwelling time and mean medical costs of patients treated successfully(P>0.05).Conclusions:Management of medium or large traumatic hemothoraxes by closed thoracic drainage using CVC is minimally invasive and as effective as using a conventional large-bore chest *** complications can be prevented and it has the potential to replace the large-bore chest tube.

BACKGROUND: Solid-pseudopapillary tumor (SPT) of the pancreas is a rare exocrine pancreatic tumor. Despite the increasing recognition of the tumor in recent years, its pathogenesis and apparent therapeutic algorithm remain unclear. This study was designed to define the clinical, imaging, and pathologic features and to improve the diagnosis and treatment of this rare disease. METHOD: The clinical, imaging, and pathologic findings of 9 SPT patients managed in our hospital between 2001 and 2005 were retrospectively analyzed, and related literatures were reviewed. RESULTS: In the 9 patients aged from 14 to 68 years, 8 were female and 1 male. The mean age of these patients at diagnosis was 30 years. Initially, 8 patients complained of vague abdominal pain and one patient had pancreatic mass detected incidentally by abdominal CT. The levels of blood and urine amylase and tumor markers were all within the normal range. B-US, CT and MRI demonstrated that tumors were well encapsulated and contained some degree of internal hemorrhage or cystic degeneration. The mean transverse diameter of these tumors was 5.4 cm (range, 2-10.5 cm). The tumors were located at the head (2 patients), body (2), body and tail junction (4), and tail (1) of the pancreas. Surgical procedures included pancreaticoduodenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy, and enucleation. Histological examination showed solidified cystic areas and papillary protrusions. Two malignant tumors demonstrated retroperitoneal metastases and vascular invasion. Follow-up for 2.5 years on average showed that one patient died of tumor recurrence at 10 months and the rest were alive. CONCLUSIONS: SPT exhibits unique clinical and pathologic features and is readily diagnosed by its characteristic imaging and histological appearance. Surgical resection of the primary tumor and metastases is the treatment of choice.

从清代嘉道年间浙江学术的变迁可以看出,中国学术的近代转型并非始于鸦片战争之后。在嘉道年间,中国学术已经开始出现学术研究内容的世俗化、客观化,学术体系的多元化,研究方法和过程的实证化,以及学术寻求并锻造新义理等趋势。这一趋势也可以说是中国学术指向近代、或者说是可与近代相对接的发展趋势。因此,中国学术的近代化,并不完全是西学输入的作用,西学对中国学术近代化进程的促进、引导作用,是以中国学术本身的内部变异为前提和基础的。

Aim:To study the effects of 1,8-cineol (eucalyptol) on the expression of earlygrowth response factor-1 (Egr-1) and NF-r,B in the human monocyte THP-1 cellline stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).Methods:The THP-1 cells were incu-bated with serial doses of 1,8-cineol (1,10,and 100 mg/L,30 min) before beingstimulated with LPS (1 mg/L,30 min).The localization of Egr-1 in the THP-1 cellswas detected by immunofluorescence and a laser scanning confocal *** expression of Egr-1 in the nuclei and whole cell,and NF-kB in the nuclei,weremeasured by Western blot ***:When stimulated by LPS,the FITC-labeled Egr-1 was detected mainly in the ***,the expression ofEgr-1 in the whole cell increased markedly compared with the control cells.1,8-Cineol pretreatment decreased the expression of Egr-1 in both the nuclei andwhole cell of the LPS-stimulated THP-1 cells,and this effect was concentration-dependent,but there was no reaction on the expression of NF-kB in the nucleiprotein in the LPS-stimulated THP-1 ***:In a concentration-depen-dent manner,1,8-Cineol reduces LPS-induced Egr-1 expression in nuclei and inwhole cell of THP-1 cells,but shows no effect on NF-kB expression.
