A Retrospective Analysis of Intoxicated Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit: A Single-Institution Assessment in the Post-Pandemic Period

Back.round: The aim of this study w.s to evaluate the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of patients w.th acute intoxication admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). material and methods: An observational retrospective study w.s conducted on intoxicated patients w.o admitted to ICU betw.en January 2022 and January 2024. Data w.re collected from the patients medical records. The demographic characteristics, causes of intoxications, clinical parameters, the mean stay in the ICU, treatment modalities and prognosis w.re recorded. Results: A total of 2875 critically ill patients w.re admitted during the study period, and 109 (3.79%) of them w.re acute intoxications. Their mean of ages w.s 38.09 ± 12.29. The female-to-male ratio w.s 1.37/1. Drugs w.re found to be the primary cause (62.39%) of intoxications, and analgesics, antidepressants, and antibiotics w.re the most frequent agents. Suicidal attempts w.re present in 66 patients, most of them w.re female (62.13%) and betw.en 17 - 24 years (40.91%). The other common causes of intoxications w.re carbon monoxide (CO) (22.02%), methyl/ethyl alcohol (8.26%) and mushroom (5.50%). The mean stay in the ICU w.s 2.69 ± 0.89 days. mechanical ventilation w.s applied to 10 of our patients. Renal replacement therapy w.s required in 6 patients. Despite all treatments, 6 of our patients died, and w. found the mortality rate to be 5.50%. Conclusion: Intoxications w.re more frequent in young female patients and drugs w.re the most common cause w.th suicidal intent. Unfortunately, CO poisoning continues to be a very important problem in our city. These findings provided significant information about the characteristics of intoxications in k.rabuk.

A reduction in building occupancy can lead to stagnant w.ter in plumbing,and the potential consequences for w.ter quality have gained increasing *** investigate this,a study w.s conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic,focusing on w.ter quality in four institutional *** of these buildings w.re old(>58 years)and large(>19,000 m2),w.ile the other tw. w.re new.>13 years)and small(m2).The study revealed significant decreases in w.ter usage in the small buildings,w.ereas usage remained unchanged in the large *** analysis found that residual chlorine w.s rarely detectable in cold/drink.ng w.ter ***,the pH,dissolved oxygen,total organic carbon,and total cell count levels in the first draw.of cold w.ter samples w.re similar across all ***,the ranges of heavy metal concentrations in large buildings w.re greater than observed in small ***(Cu),lead(Pb),and manganese(mn)sporadically exceeded drink.ng w.ter limits at cold w.ter fixtures,w.th maximum concentrations of 2.7 mg Cu L^(-1),45.4 mg Pb L^(-1),1.9 mg mn L^(-1).Flushing the plumbing for 5 min resulted in detectable residual at fixtures in three buildings,but even after 125 min of flushing in largest and oldest building,no residual chlorine w.s detected at the fixture closest to the building's point of *** the pandemic,the building ow.er conducted fixture flushing,w.ere one to a few.fixtures w.re operated per visit in buildings w.th hundreds of fixtures and multiple ***,further research is needed to understand the fundamental processes that control faucet w.ter quality from the service line to the *** the absence of this k.ow.edge,building ow.ers should create and use as-built draw.ngs to develop flushing plans and conduct periodic w.ter testing.

The behavior of non-New.onian pow.r-law.nanofluids under free convection heat transfer conditions in a cooled square enclosure equipped w.th a heated fin is investigated *** particular,the impact of nanofluids,composed of w.ter and Al_(2)O_(3),TiO_(2),and Cu nanoparticles,on heat transfer enhancement is *** aim of this research is also to analyze the influence of different parameters,including the rayleigh number(ra=10^(4)-10^(6)),nanoparticle volume fraction(φ=0%-20%),non-New.onian pow.r-law.indexes(n=0.6-1.4),and fin dimensions(Ar=0.3,0.5,and 0.7).Streamlines and isotherms are used to depict flow.and related heat transfer *** indicate that thermal performance improves w.th increasing rayleigh number,regardless of the nanoparticle type or nanofluid rheological *** suggests that the buoyancy force has a significant impact on heat transfer,particularly near the heat *** Nusselt number is more sensitive to variations in Cu nanoparticle volume fractions compared to Al₂O₃and TiO₂.moreover,the average Nusselt numbers for pow.r-law.nanofluids w.th n1)are greater(smaller)than for New.onian fluids due to the decrease(increase)in viscosity w.th increasing(decreasing)shear rate,at the same values of rayleigh number ra ow.ng to the amplification(attenuation)of the convective ***,the most substantial enhancement is observed w.th Cu-w.ter shear-thinning nanofluid,w.ere the Nusselt number increases by 136%w.en changing from New.onian to shear thinning behavior and by 154.9%w.en adding 16%nanoparticle volume ***,an even larger increase of 57%in the average Nusselt number is obtained on increasing the fin length from 0.3 to 0.7.

The ground-state mass excess of the T_(z)=−2 drip-line nucleus ^(22)Al is measured for the first time as 18103(10)k.V using the new.y-developed Bρ-defined isochronous mass spectrometry method at the cooler storage ring in *** new.mass excess value allow.d us to determine the excitation energies of the tw. low.lying 1+states in ^(22)Al w.th significantly reduced uncertainties of 51 *** compared to the analogue states in its mirror nucleus ^(22)F,the mirror energy differences of the tw. 1^(+)states in the ^(22)Al-^(22)F mirror pair are determined to be−625(51)k.V and−330(51)*** excitation energies and mirror energy differences are used to test the state-of-the-art ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group calculations w.th four sets of interactions derived from the chiral effective field *** mechanism leading to the large mirror energy differences is investigated and attributed to the occupation of theπs_(1/2) orbital.

Neutron-rich P,Cl,and k.isotopes,particularly those w.th neutron numbers of approximately N=28,have attracted extensive experimental and theoretical *** utilize the ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group approach,based on chiral nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon forces,to investigate the exotic properties of these *** calculations of the low.lying spectra are performed.A k.y finding is the level inversion betw.en 3/2_(1)^(+)and 1/2_(1)^(+)states in odd-A isotopes,attributed to the inversion ofπ0xod_(3/2) andπls_(1/2) single-particle *** ab initio calculations,w.ich incorporate the three-nucleon forces,correlate closely w.th existing experimental *** calculations of effective proton single-particle energies provide deeper insights into the shell evolution for Z=14 and 16 *** results indicate that the three-body force plays important roles in the shell evolution for Z=14 and 16 sub-shells w.th neutron numbers ranging from 20 to ***,systematic ab initio calculations are conducted for the low.lying spectra of odd-odd *** results correspond w.th experimental data and provide new.insights for future research into these isotopes up to and beyond the drip line.
