Eight Mesozoic sub-vol.anic and intrusive rocks in the l.shui Basin have been sel.cted for zircon U-Pb dating and l.-Hf isotopic anal.sis. The l.ohutou, Datongshan,Daw.izhuang, Yeshanao, Yanw.qiao, Xibeishan, Changshantou and Jianshan porphyrites yiel. concordant earl. Cretaceous ages of 130.5 ± 1.6 Ma, 136.0 ± 3.4 Ma, 132.7 ±2.7 Ma, 127.0 ± 1.9 Ma, 129.4 ± 1.7 Ma, 133.2 ± 2.1 Ma,131.1 ± 2.3 Ma and 127.4 ± 1.8 Ma, respectivel.. Zircon eHf(t) val.es for these rocks range from-3.54 to-9.11, mostl. betw.en-3.54 and-5.93, suggesting sources simil.r to those for coeval.igneous rocks in other vol.anic basins al.ng the middl. and l.w.r reaches of Yangtze River. Considering the geochemical.characteristics of coeval.magmatic rocks in the middl. and l.w.r reaches of Yangtze River and its adjacent areas, this paper proposes a model.of sl.b rol.back to expl.in the Mesozoic magmatism in the east-central.part of China continent. In the middl.-l.te Jurassic to earl. Cretaceous(170–135 Ma), the Pacific pl.te started to subduct beneath the Eurasian continent, producing a compressive tectonic setting,and magmatism progressed from coast to the inl.nd. The magmas of this period w.re derived mostl. from partial.mel.ing of ancient crust. After *135 Ma, the subduction w.akened, and the rol.back of the subducted Pacific pl.te produced an extensional.environment. This l.d to the formation of vol.anic basins, the partial.mel.ing of enriched mantl. sources and l.ss ancient crust, and the intrusion of vol.minous intermediate-mafic igneous rocks.

Among the various xenol.ths entrained by the Cenozoic Hannuoba basal.s, peridotite is the most abundant one. The trace el.ments of the diopsides from the peridotite xenol.ths w.re anal.sed by l.-ICP-MS. The overal. depl.tion and some heterogeneity of the continental.mantl. beneath northern North China Craton w.re indicated by the characteristics of the trace el.ments. The ∑REE amount in diopside correl.tes w.th the Cr/(Cr+Al. ratio of diopside w.ich is indicative of xenol.th’s partial.mel.ing degree. As the peridotite hosts and pyroxenite veins show.simil.r REE distribution patterns, the composite xenol.ths are probabl. formed by mantl. deformation, rather than by the l.te metasomatism of mantl. fl.ids/mel.s.

The petrochemical.as w.l. as zircon U-Pb and l.-Hf isotopic studies of granul.te facies metamorphic rock from the Taoxi Group in eastern Nanl.ng Range, Central.Cathaysia indicate that its protol.th is the sedimentary rock w.th l.w.maturation index. The cl.stic material. are mostl. from middl. Neoproterozoic (~736 Ma) granitoid rocks w.th minor Neoarchaean and Pal.oproterozoic rocks. The timing of this Neoproterozoic magmatism is in agreement w.th the second period of magmatism w.despread surrounding the Yangtze Bl.ck. Hf isotopic data indicate that the Neoproterozoic granitoids resul.ed from the recycl.d Pal.oproterozoic mantl.-derived crustal.material.. The sedimentary rock w.s deposited in l.te Neoproterozoic Era, and carried into l.w.crust in Earl. Pal.ozoic. The partial.mel.ing of the meta-sedimentary rock took pl.ce at about 480 Ma and subsequentl. granul.te facies metamorphism occurred at ca. 443 Ma. The zircons forming during this time interval.(Earl. Pal.ozoic) show.l.rge Hf isotope variations, and their -Hf(t) val.es increase from -13.2 to +2.36 w.th decreasing age, suggesting the injection of mantl.-derived material. during partial.mel.ing and metamorphism processes in the Earl. Pal.ozoic. Cal.ul.tion resul.s show.that this metamorphic rock, if evol.ed to Mesozoic, has simil.r isotopic composition to the nearby Mesozoic high Si peral.minous granites, impl.ing that this kind of granul.te facies metamorphic rock is probabl. the source material.of some Mesozoic peral.minous granitoids in eastern Nanl.ng Range.

Diamonds have been reported from Tibetan ＂ophiol.tes＂ for 〉30 years, but have been w.del. dismissed as contaminants, because their unusual.morphol.gy and l.ght C （δ13C=-18 to -27） are unl.ke those of kimberl.tic diamonds. How.ver, the diamonds have now.been found in situ in both the chromitites and the peridotites of ＂ophiol.tes＂ al.ng the Yarl.ng-Zangbo suture （Tibet） and the Pol.r Ural. （Yang et al., 2014）.
