Objective： Hemodilution changes the physical properties of blood by reducing its hematocrit and blood viscosity. We tested whether prolonged hypervolemic hemodilution （HHD） impairs functional capillary density （FCD） of ileal mucosa in healthy mechanically-ventilated pigs and if there is any correlation between changes in FCD of ileal and sublingual mucosas during HHD. Methods： Sixteen domestic female pigs were anesthetized, mechanically-ventilated, and randomly assigned to the HHD （20 ml/（kg.h） Hartmann＇s solution for 3 h） or fluid restrictive （5 ml/（kg-h） Hartmann＇s solution for 3 h） group. Microcirculations of sublingual and ileal mucosas via ileostomy were visualized using sidestream dark-field （SDF） imaging at baseline conditions （t=0 h） and at selected time intervals of fluid therapy （t=-l, 2, and 3 h）. Results： A significant decrease of ileal FCD （285 （278-292） cm/cm^2） in the HHD group was observed after the third hour of HHD when compared to the baseline （360 （350-370） cm/cm2）（p〈0.01）. This trend was not observed in the restrictive group, where the ileal mucosa FCD was significantly higher after the third hour of fluid therapy as compared to the HHD group （p〈0.01）. No correlation between microhemodynamic parameters obtained from sublingual and ileal mucosas was found throughout the study. Conclusions： prolonged HHD established by crystalloid solution significantly decreased ileal villus FCD when compared to restrictive fluid regimen. An inappropriate degree of HHD can be harmful during uncomplicated abdominal surgery.

Effects of two doses of the anti-diabetic drug, metformin （MF）, on hormonal and metabolic levels of serum of non-diabetic male Wistar rats with 1,2-dimethylhydrazine （DMH）-induced colon tumor adenocarcinomas were studied. Carcinogenesis in the animals was also observed. Rats with DMH-induced colon adenocarcinomas had elevated levels of serum glucose, insulin, insulin- like growth factor-l, total cholesterol, triglycerides, catalase, malonic dialdehyde, glycated hemoglobin, aspartate aminotransferase, and alanine aminotransferase and decreased hemoglobin. Treatment with two doses of MF normalized maiority of these changes in DMH-treated rats, whereas the drug was ineffective in rats without DMH treatment. The only exception was the decreased triglyceride levels in MF-treated rats. A 100 mg/kg dose of MF increased DMH-induced exophytic colon carcinomas and decreased endophytic tumors compared with untreated rats. Moreover, both MF doses increased DMH-induced and highly differentiated tumors and decreased the invasiveness of colon carcinomas compared with rats provided with DMH and water. Therefore, effects of MF on metabolic homeostasis are critical for preventing colon cancer.

The current research is devoted to the study of the modification of the titanium implants by the micro-arc oxidation with bioactive calcium phosphate coatings containing Ag or Sr and Si *** coatings’microstructure,phase composition,morphology,physicochemical and biological properties were examined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Ag-containing and Sr-Si-incorporated coatings were formed in alkaline and acid electrolytes,*** formation of the coatings occurred at different ranges of the applied voltages,which led to the significant difference in the coatings *** trace elements Ag,Sr and Si participated intensively in the plasma-chemical reactions of the micro-arc coatings ***-containing coatings demonstrated strong antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus AТСС*** in vitro test with 3T3-L1 fibroblasts showed no cytotoxicity appearance on Sr-Si-incorporated coatings.

High-coercive cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized and studied for magnetic hyperthermia by direct injection of their suspension into a tumor and application of a strong audio-frequency magnetic field for heating. physical （dynamic magnetic hysteresis and heat generation in both liquid and solid dispersions）, biological （toxicity and penetration of particles in therapeutic quantities into mouse tumor tissue） as well as other properties of the particles were studied. A model was developed to describe the magnetodynamics in suspensions of magnetic nanoclusters with an account for both Brownian and regular rotations, to provide understanding of observed phenomena. The experimental and theoretical techniques developed have formed a basis for controllable synthesis of the magnetic nanoparticles for low-frequency heat generation in medical and other applications.

Complex investigation of mesh implants was per formed involving laser confocal microscopy,backscattered probing and OCT imaging *** growth of endomysium and fat tissue with microcirculation vessels was observed in the mesh encapsulation *** microscopy analysis shows that such pat hologies complications such as necrosis formation and microcavities were localized in the area near implant fibers with the size compatible with fiber *** the number of such formnations increase with the increase of the size,number and density of microdefects on the implant *** of mumerical sinulations show that it is possible to control implant installation up to the depth to 4mm with a help of bac kscattering *** applicability of OCT imaging for mesh implant control was *** two stage OCT image noise reduction algorithm,including empirical mode decomposition,was proposed for contrast increase and better abnormalities visualization by halving the signal-to-noise *** usage of backscattered probing and OCT allows to accurately ascertain implant and surrounding tissue conditions,which reduces the risk of relapse probability.

A novel type of high power edge-emitting semiconductor laser （SL） with extended vertical photonic band crystal （pBC） waveguide was reviewed. Simulations predict narrow beam divergence, resulting from the thick pBC waveguide, to be independent of realistic variations of the growth parameters. Narrow ridge lasers fabricated along the simulations indeed demonstrate superior output power, narrow beam divergence, circular beam profile, excellent beam quality and very low astigmatism. Efficient fiber coupling decisive for most applications was thus eased. Stability of the laser under a wide range of operating temperature was demonstrated. Ultrashort pulses with few ps of duration at GHz repetition rates were generated by passively mode locking the lasers.
