Duplex stainless steels are being used on applications that require,especially,high corrosion resistance and overall good mechanical properties,such as the naval and oil-gas exploration *** components employed in these industries are usually obtained by machining,however,these alloys have low machinability when compared to conventional stainless *** this work,a study of the wear developed when milling duplex stainless-steel,LDX 2101,is going to be presented and evaluated,employing four types of milling tools with different geometries and coatings,while studying the influence of feed rate and cutting length in the wear of these *** used have been provided with two and four flutes,as well as three different coatings,namely:TiAlN,TiAlSiN and *** cutting behavior of these tools was analyzed;data relative to the cutting forces developed during the process were obtained;and roughness measurements of the machined surfaces were *** tools were then submitted to scanning electron microscope(SEM)analysis,enabling the identification of the wear mechanisms that tools were subjected to when machining this material,furthermore,the early stages of these mechanisms were also *** this work was done with the goal of relating the machining parameters and cutting force values obtained,identifying,and discussing the wear patterns that were observed in the coating and tools after the milling tests,providing further information on the machining of these alloys.

This study presents a probabilistic seismic risk model for the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region in china. The model comprises a township-level residential building exposure model, a vulnerability model derived from the chinese building taxonomy,and a regional probabilistic seismic hazard model. The three components are integrated by a stochastic event-based method of the OpenQuake engine to assess the regional seismic risk in terms of average annual loss and exceedance probability curve at the city, province, and regional levels. The novelty and uniqueness of this study are that a probabilistic seismic risk model for the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region in china is developed by considering the impact of site conditions and epistemic uncertainty from the seismic hazard model.

Six-Writings multimodal processing with pictophonetic coding to enhance chinese language models

While large language models(LLMs)have made significant strides in natural language processing(NLP),they continue to face challenges in adequately addressing the intricacies of the chinese language in certain *** propose a framework called Six-Writings multimodal processing(SWMP)to enable direct integration of chinese NLP(cNLP)with morphological and semantic *** first part of SWMP,known as Six-Writings pictophonetic coding(SWPc),is introduced with a suitable level of granularity for radicals and components,enabling effective representation of chinese characters and *** conduct several experimental scenarios,including the following:(1)We establish an experimental database consisting of images and SWPc for chinese characters,enabling dual-mode processing and matrix generation for cNLP.(2)We characterize various generative modes of chinese words,such as thousands of chinese idioms,used as question-and-answer(Q&A)prompt functions,facilitating analogies by *** experiments achieve 100%accuracy in answering all questions in the chinese morphological data set(cA8-Mor-10177).(3)A fine-tuning mechanism is proposed to refine word embedding results using SWPc,resulting in an average relative error of≤25%for 39.37%of the questions in the chinese wOrd Similarity data set(cOS960).The results demonstrate that SWMP/SWPc methods effectively capture the distinctive features of chinese and offer a promising mechanism to enhance cNLP with better efficiency.

BAcKGROUND Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency(AATD)is a codominant autosomal hereditary condition that predisposes patients to the development of lung and/or liver disease,and Pi*Z allele is the most clinically relevant *** To evaluate the impact of clinical parameters and AATD phenotypes,particularly the Pi*Z allele,in liver *** cross-sectional cohort study including consecutive patients with AATD followed in Pulmonology or Hepatology *** Included 69 patients,49.3%had Pi*MZ phenotype and 10.1%Pi**** age≥55 years,age at diagnosis≥41 years and AAT at diagnosiscted a nonalcoholic fatty liver disease fibrosis score(NfS)not excluding advanced fibrosis[area under the curve(AUc)=0.840,Pc=0.836,Pc=0.681,P=0.025].An age≥50 years and age at diagnosis≥41 years predicted a fibrosis-4 index of moderate to advanced fibrosis(AUc=0.831,Pc=0.795,Pc syndrome,and regular alcohol consumption were more likely to have a NfS not excluding advanced fibrosis(Pffness measurement≥7.1 kPa(P=0.040).cONcLUSION Risk factors for liver disease in AATD included an age≥50 years,age at diagnosis≥41 years,metabolic risk factors,regular alcohol consumption,at least one Pi*Z allele,and AAT value at diagnosiscreated an algorithm for liver disease screening in AATD patients to use in primary care,selecting those to be referred to Hepatology consultation.

BAcKGROUND Paracoccidioidomycosis(PcM)may involve the hepatic pedicle and peripan creatic lymph nodes,cause damage to the bile duct and manifest,exceptionally,in combination with extrahepatic cholestasis(EHc),making investigation and treatment *** To investigate the management of patients with visceral PcM admitted with *** All patients diagnosed with PcM treated in a public,tertiary teaching hospital between 1982 and 2020 were retrospectively *** also identified with EHc were allocated to two groups according to the treatment approach for the purpose of comparing clinical,laboratory,and imaging findings,resources used for etiological diagnosis,treatment results,and *** analyses were performed using the linear mixed-effects model(random and fixed effects),which was adjusted using the PROc MIXED procedure of the SAS®9.0 software,and fisher’s exact *** Of 1645 patients diagnosed with PcM,40(2.4%)had *** these,20(50.0%)lived in the rural area and 29(72.5%)were men,with a mean age of 27.1 years(3-65 years).Jaundice as first symptom and weight loss of at least 10 kg were observed in 16 patients(40.0%),and a mass in the head of the pancreas was observed in 8(20.0%).The etiological diagnosis was made by tissue collection during surgery in 4 cases(10.0%)and by endoscopic methods in 3 cases(7.5%).Twenty-seven patients(67.5%)received drug treatment alone(Group 1),whereas 13(32.5%)underwent endoscopic and/or surgical procedures in combination with drug treatment(Group 2).EHc was significantly reduced in both groups(40.7% in Group 1,with a mean time of 3 months;and 38.4% in Group 2,with a mean time of 7.5 months),with no statistically significant difference between *** recurrence rates,associated mainly with treatment nonadherence,were similar in both groups:37% in Group 1 and 15.4% in Group *** mortality rate was 18.5% in Group 1 and 23% in Group 2,with survival estimates of 71.3% and 72.5%,respectively,with

Parallel LDPc Decoding on GPUs Using a Stream-Based computing Approach

Low-Density Parity-check （LDPc） codes are powerful error correcting codes adopted by recent communication standards. LDPc decoders are based on belief propagation algorithms, which make use of a Tanner graph and very intensive message-passing computation, and usually require hardware-based dedicated solutions. With the exponential increase of the computational power of commodity graphics processing units （GPUs）, new opportunities have arisen to develop general purpose processing on GPUs. This paper proposes the use of GPUs for implementing flexible and programmable LDPc decoders. A new stream-based approach is proposed, based on compact data structures to represent the Tanner graph. It is shown that such a challenging application for stream-based computing, because of irregular memory access patterns, memory bandwidth and recursive flow control constraints, can be efficiently implemented on GPUs. The proposal was experimentally evaluated by programming LDPc decoders on GPUs using the caravela platform, a generic interface tool for managing the kernels＇ execution regardless of the GPU manufacturer and operating system. Moreover, to relatively assess the obtained results, we have also implemented LDPc decoders on general purpose processors with Streaming Single Instruction Multiple Data （SIMD） Extensions. Experimental results show that the solution proposed here efficiently decodes several codewords simultaneously, reducing the processing time by one order of magnitude.

The Use of Secondary Grape Biomass in Beef cattle Nutrition on carcass characteristics, Quality and Shelf Life of Meat

We determined whether the inclusion of 100 g/kg dry matter of grape pomace silage (GPS) and grape pomace bran (GPB) as substitutes for other traditional fiber sources in the diet of steers (charolais x Nellore) would improve carcass characteristics, meat quality and composition, and shelf life. Twenty-four animals (248 ± 19.32 kg of initial body weight) were fed a high concentrate diet for 121 days. carcass characteristics were measured, and the longissimus dorsi muscle was analyzed for fatty acid (fA) profile and composition. The meat was sliced and stored in air-permeable packages for 10 days. On each sampling day (d 1, 3, 7, and 10), oxidative stability, bacterial load, lipid and protein oxidation, and staining were analyzed. The experimental diets influenced the pH of cold carcasses only. The GPS group had a higher pH than the control. The GPS and GPB groups showed improved oxidant status (i.e., lower lipid peroxidation and concentrations of reactive oxygen species were in the meat of both groups than in control). On the first day of storage, the antioxidant enzyme glutathione S-transferase activity was more significant in the meat of the GPS and GPB groups than in the control. The bacterial loads in the meat were attenuated by GPS inclusion;there were lower total coliform counts and a trend toward lower counts for enterobacteria in the control group. The diets altered the fA profile of the meat;i.e., the GPB diet allowed for a more significant amount of the n-6 omegas in the meat, while the GPS diet showed a tendency for a more significant amount of n-6 and 9 omegas. Both diets (GPS and GPB) increased the amounts of long-chain fAs. The GPS diet decreased saturated fA levels. We conclude that the dietary treatments GPS and GPB are a promising alternative to maintain meat quality standards throughout in real-world retail conditions. Nutritional supplements use in high-performance athletes is related with lower nutritional inadequacy from food

Background: The use of nutritional supplements(NS) among athletes is widespread. However, little is known about the relationship between nutritional adequacy and NS usage. The aims of this study were to evaluate the NS usage and to compare the nutritional intake from food and prevalence of micronutrient inadequacy(PMI) between NS users and ***: Portuguese athletes from 13 sports completed an NS usage questionnaire and a semi-quantitative food-frequency questionnaire assessing information over the previous 12 months. The estimated average requirement cut-point method was used to calculate PMI. General linear models were used to compare nutritional intake and NS usage. chi-squared tests and logistic regression were performed to study, respectively,relationships and associations between PMI and NS ***: from the 244 athletes(66% males, 13–37 years), 64% reported NS usage. After adjustment, NS users showed a higher intake from food(p for at least 1 gender, for energy, and for 7 of the 17 studied nutrients. The highest PMI were seen for vitamins D and E, calcium, folate,and magnesium. After adjustment, NS users, irrespective of gender, reported lower PMI for calcium(OR = 0.28, 95%cI: 0.12–0.65), and female users for magnesium(OR = 0.06, 95%cI: 0.00–0.98).conclusion: Athletes using NS reported a higher nutritional intake from food, and a lower PMI for several nutrients. Perhaps, those who were taking NS were probably the ones who would least benefit from it.
