In this study, we analyzed stable calcium isotope results of authigenic carbonates from two cold seep areas of the Dongsha area and the Baiyun Sag in the northern South China Sea. The stable isotopes of carbon and oxygen as well as the mineral composition of authigenic carbonates were used to investigate control calcium isotope fractionation. The δ44/40Ca ratios of the southwestern Dongsha area samples ranged from 1.21‰ to 1.52‰ and the ratio of the Baiyun Sag sample was 1.55‰ of the SRm915a isotope standard. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the carbonate samples consisted of dolomite, calcite and aragonite, with small amounts of high-mg calcite and siderite. The δ13C values of the carbonates of the southwestern Dongsha area varied between δ49.21‰ and δ16.86‰ of the Vienna PeeDee Belemnite (VPDB) standard and the δ18O values ranged from 2.25‰ to 3.72‰ VPDB. The δ13C value of the Baiyun Sag sample was 2.36‰ VPDB and the δ18O value was 0.44‰ VPDB. The δ13C values of the carbonates of the southwestern Dongsha area revealed there is methane seeping into this area, with a variable contribution of methane-derived carbon. The sampled carbonates covered a range of δ13C values suggesting a dominant methane carbon source for the light samples and mixtures of δ13C values for the heavier samples, with possibly an organic or seawater carbon source. The δ18O values indicated that there is enrichment in 18O, which is related to the larger oxygen isotope fractionation in dolomite compared to calcite. The results of the Baiyun Sag sample exhibited normal seawater carbon and oxygen isotopic values, indicating that this sample is not related to methane seepage but instead to precipitation from seawater. The relatively high δ44/40Ca values indicated either precipitation at comparatively high rates in pore-water regimes with high alkalinity, or precipitation from an evolved heavy fluid with high degrees of Ca consumption (Raleigh type fractionation). Background: The use of nutritional supplements(NS) among athletes is widespread. However, little is known about the relationship between nutritional adequacy and NS usage. The aims of this study were to evaluate the NS usage and to compare the nutritional intake from food and prevalence of micronutrient inadequacy(PmI) between NS users and ***: Portuguese athletes from 13 sports completed an NS usage questionnaire and a semi-quantitative food-frequency questionnaire assessing information over the previous 12 months. The estimated average requirement cut-point method was used to calculate PmI. General linear models were used to compare nutritional intake and NS usage. Chi-squared tests and logistic regression were performed to study, respectively,relationships and associations between PmI and NS ***: from the 244 athletes(66% males, 13–37 years), 64% reported NS usage. After adjustment, NS users showed a higher intake from food(p for at least 1 gender, for energy, and for 7 of the 17 studied nutrients. The highest PmI were seen for vitamins D and E, calcium, folate,and magnesium. After adjustment, NS users, irrespective of gender, reported lower PmI for calcium(OR = 0.28, 95%CI: 0.12–0.65), and female users for magnesium(OR = 0.06, 95%CI: 0.00–0.98).Conclusion: Athletes using NS reported a higher nutritional intake from food, and a lower PmI for several nutrients. Perhaps, those who were taking NS were probably the ones who would least benefit from it.

AIm:To investigate the possible association between meat intake,cigarette smoking and N-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) genetic polymorphisms on colorectal cancer (CRC) ***:Patients with CRC were matched for gender and age to healthy *** intake and cigarette smoking were assessed using a specific frequency *** was extracted from peripheral blood and the genotypes of the polymorphism were assessed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length *** NAT2 alleles were studied (WT,m1,m2,m3 and m4) using specific digestion ***:A total of 147 patients with colorectal cancer (76 women and 90 men with colon cancer) and 212 controls were *** mean age of the two groups was 62 *** than half the subjects (59.8% in the case group and 51.9% in the control group) were NAT2 slow *** odds ratio for colorectal cancer was 1.38 (95% CI:0.90-2.12) in slow *** the number of women was small (n=76 in the case group),the cancer risk was found to be lower in intermediate (W/mx) acetylators [odds ratio (OR):0.55,95% confidence interval (95% CI):0.29-1.02].This difference was not observed in men (OR:0.56,95% CI:0.16-2.00).Among NAT2 fast acetylators (W/W or W/mx),meat consumption more than 3 times a week increased the risk of colorectal cancer (OR:2.05,95% CI:1.01-4.16).In contrast,cigarette smoking increased the risk of CRC among slow acetylators (OR:1.97,95% CI:1.02-3.79).CONCLUSION:The risk of CRC was higher among fast acetylators who reported a higher meat *** NAT2 acetylation was associated with an increased risk of CRC.

The present study describes the development and validation of a dissolution method for delapril （DEL） and manidipine （mAN） combination tablets, using a simulated absorption profile based on in vivo data for mAN. The suitable in vitro dissolution profile for this formulation was obtained using 900 mL of citrate buffer pH 3.2 at 37 ℃ ± 0.5 ℃ as dissolution medium and USP apparatus 2 （paddle） at 75 rpm. All samples were analyzed by a liquid chromatography （LC） method. Under these conditions, a significant linear relationship between the absorbed （calculated by deconvolution approach） and dissolved fractions of mAN was obtained （R=0.997） and an in vivo-in vitro （IVIV） correlation for this particular formulation containing mAN can be established. Validation parameters for dissolution methodology such as the specificity, linearity, accuracy and precision were also evaluated according to the international guidelines, giving results within the acceptable range. Therefore, the proposed dissolution conditions can be applied for the simultaneous release analysis of DEL and mAN from the solid dosage form, contributing to the improvement of the quality control of pharmaceutics and minimizing the number of bioavailability studies.

Objective This paper aims to evaluate the genotoxicity in peripheral blood lymphocytes of rats after exposure to sunlight at different time points of day in a tropical region of Brazil（5oS,42oW）.materials and methods Thirty Wistar-Hannover rats,three months old,were randomly divided into three groups of 10 animals each：Group I [control,without exposure to ultraviolet（UV） radiation],Group II（exposed to sunlight during 08：00 *** 10：00 a.m.）,and Group III（exposed to sunlight during 10：00 *** 12：00 a.m.）.After a week of exposure,peripheral blood samples were taken from the tail of these animals to prepare smears on two slides per *** 24 h after exposure to sunlight in Group III,a new collection was obtained to observe the repair *** alkaline comet assay was used in this study to evaluate the genotoxic activity of sunlight（P0.05）.Results There was no statistical difference between Group I and II（P=0.672）.On the other hand,the exposure to sunlight in Group III showed genotoxic action in comparison to the other groups（P0.0001）.Also,there was no significant repair in Group III R（P=0.407）.Conclusion This study has shown a genotoxic potential of sunlight（UVA-B） in lymphocytes of mammals from 10：00 *** 12：00 a.m.,due to a higher intensity of UV in this tropical region.
