Effects of ultrasonic-assisted extraction on bioactive compounds,volatile flavors and antioxidant activities of vine tea water extracts

Background:Ampelopsis grossedentata,vine tea,which is the tea alternative beverages in *** vine tea processing,a large amount of broken tea is produced,which has low commercial ***:This study investigates the influence of different extraction methods(room temperature water extraction,boiling water extraction,ultrasonic-assisted room temperature water extraction,and ultrasonic-assisted boiling water extraction,referred to as room temperature water extraction(RE),boiling water extraction(BE),ultrasonic assistance at room temperature water extraction(URE),and ultrasonic assistance in boiling water extraction(UBE))on the yield,dihydromyricetin(DMY)content,free amino acid composition,volatile aroma components,and antioxidant properties of vine tea ***:A notable influence of extraction temperature on the yield of vine tea extracts(P<0.05),with BE yielding the highest at 43.13±0.26%,higher than that of RE(34.29±0.81%).Ultrasound-assisted extraction significantly increased the DMY content of the extracts(P<0.05),whereas DMY content in the RE extracts was 59.94±1.70%,that of URE reached 66.14±2.78%.Analysis revealed 17 amino acids,with L-serine and aspartic acid being the most abundant in the extracts,nevertheless ultrasound-assisted extraction reduced total free amino acid *** chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis demonstrated an increase in the diversity and quantity of compounds in the vine tea water extracts obtained through ultrasonic-assisted ***,69 and 68 volatile compounds were found in URE and UBE extracts,which were higher than the number found in RE and BE *** vitro,antioxidant activity assessments revealed varying antioxidant capacities among different extraction methods,with RE exhibiting the highest DPPH scavenging rate,URE leading in ABTS•+free radical scavenging,and BE demonstrating superior ferric ion reducing antioxidant ***:The findings suggest that extraction methods signi

Bubble entrapment during the recoil of an impacting droplet

When a droplet impacts a(super-)hydrophobic surface,there is a range of Weber numbers within which bubble entrapment will occur during droplet recoil due to closure of the air cavity developed when the droplet spreads out during the *** this study,we studied bubble entrapment using a microelectromechanical system(MEMS)-based acoustic sensor fabricated on a *** found that bubble entrapment is followed by an acoustic vibration that can be detected by the ***,the frequency of the vibration is inversely proportional to the radius of the droplet,which indicates that this vibration is the resonant oscillation of the ***,the MEMS-based acoustic sensor can be used not only to detect but also to measure the size of the entrapped ***,we demonstrated that it is possible to prevent bubble formation by allowing the air to escape to the underside of the droplet contact *** can be done by creating through-holes on the substrate or decorating the substrate with sufficiently large textures.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of cycling in combination with electroacupuncture in treatment of poststroke hemiplegia patients at National Hospital of Acupuncture,***:The study was designed as a single-centre,outcome-assessor-blinded parallel randomised controlled trial with 120 post-stroke hemiplegia patients randomly assigned into two groups:electroacupuncture plus cycling(CT group) and electroacupuncture(AT group).Patients were assessed before and after the treatment(using muscle grading,modified Rankin,Barthel,Orgorozo scores and electromyography).Statistical Man–Whitney U test,and Fisher’s exact tests were used to compare between CT and AT ***:The results reported statistically significant improvement in motor function in patients suffering from hemiplegia following ischemic stroke in both CT and AT *** in CT group experienced a greater improvement compared to those in AT group including better muscle contraction(increased frequency and amplitude of electromyography and increased muscle grading scale);increased recovery(Orgogozo scale),increased independency(Barthel scale) and decreased disability(Modified Rankin scale)(P < 0.01).CONCLUSIONS:Combination with cycling training significantly improves the recovery of post-stroke patients treated with electroacupuncture.

Effects of phenolic acids on soil nitrogen mineralization over successive rotations in chinese fir plantations

Phenolic acids are secondary metabolites of plants that significantly affect nutrient cycling *** investigate such effects,the soil available nitrogen(N)content,phenolic acid content,and net N mineralization rate in three successive rotations of chinese fir plantations in subtropical china were *** N mineralization and nitrification rates in soils treated with phenolic acids were measured in an ex situ *** with first-rotation plantations(FCP),the contents of total soil nitrogen and nitrate in second(SCP)-and third-rotation plantations(TCP)decreased,and that of soil ammonium *** net N mineralization rates in the second-and third-rotation plantations also increased by 17.8%and 39.9%,*** contrast,soil net nitrification rates decreased by 18.0%and 25.0%,*** concentrations of total phenolic acids in the FCP soils(123.22±6.02 nmol g^-1)were 3.0%and 17.9%higher than in the SCP(119.68±11.69 nmol g^-1)and TCP(104.51±8.57 nmol g^-1,respectively).The total content of phenolic acids was significantly correlated with the rates of net soil N mineralization and net *** ex situ experiment showed that the net N mineralization rates in soils treated with high(HCPA,0.07 mg N kg^-1 day^-1)and low(LCPA,0.18 mg N kg^-1 day^-1)concentrations of phenolic acids significantly decreased by 78.6%and 42.6%,respectively,comparing with that in control(0.32 mg N kg^-1 day^-1).Soil net nitrification rates under HCPA and LCPA were significantly higher than that of the *** results suggested that low contents of phenolic acids in soil over successive rotations increased soil net N mineralization rates and decreased net nitrification rates,leading to consequent reductions in the nitrate content and enhancement of the ammonium content,then resulting in enhancing the conservation of soil N of successive rotations in chinese fir plantation.

Infiltration by monocytes of the central nervous system and its role in multiple sclerosis: reflections on therapeutic strategies

Mononuclear macrophage infiltration in the central nervous system is a prominent feature of neuroinflammation. Recent studies on the pathogenesis and progression of multiple sclerosis have highlighted the multiple roles of mononuclear macrophages in the neuroinflammatory process. Monocytes play a significant role in neuroinflammation, and managing neuroinflammation by manipulating peripheral monocytes stands out as an effective strategy for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, leading to improved patient outcomes. This review outlines the steps involved in the entry of myeloid monocytes into the central nervous system that are targets for effective intervention: the activation of bone marrow hematopoiesis, migration of monocytes in the blood, and penetration of the blood–brain barrier by monocytes. Finally, we summarize the different monocyte subpopulations and their effects on the central nervous system based on phenotypic differences. As activated microglia resemble monocyte-derived macrophages, it is important to accurately identify the role of monocyte-derived macrophages in disease. Depending on the roles played by monocyte-derived macrophages at different stages of the disease, several of these processes can be interrupted to limit neuroinflammation and improve patient prognosis. Here, we discuss possible strategies to target monocytes in neurological diseases, focusing on three key aspects of monocyte infiltration into the central nervous system, to provide new ideas for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Reduced-order method for nuclear reactor primary circuit calculation

Accurate real-time simulations of nuclear reactor circuit systems are particularly important for system safety analysis and *** effectively improve computational efficiency without reducing accuracy,this study establishes a thermal-hydraulics reduced-order model(ROM)for nuclear reactor circuit *** full-order circuit system calculation model is first established and verified and then used to calculate the thermal-hydraulic properties of the circuit system under different states as *** proper orthogonal decomposition method is used to extract the basis functions from snapshots,and the ROM is constructed using the least-squares method,effectively reducing the difficulty in constructing the ROM.A comparison between the full-order simulation and ROM prediction results of the AP1000 circuit system shows that the proposed ROM can improve computational efficiency by 1500 times while achieving a maximum relative error of 0.223%.This research develops a new direction and perspective for the digital twin modeling of nuclear reactor system circuits.
