BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis(AP)in liver transplant(LT)recipients may lead to poor clinical outcomes and development of severe *** We aimed to assess national trends,clinical outcomes,and the healthcare burden of LT hospitalizations with AP in the United States(US).METHODS The National Inpatient Sample was utilized to identify all adult(≥18 years old)LT hospitalizations with AP in the US from 2007–***-LT AP hospitalizations served as controls for comparative *** trends of hospitalization characteristics,clinical outcomes,complications,and healthcare burden for LT hospitalizations with AP were *** characteristics,clinical outcomes,complications,and healthcare burden were also compared between the LT and non-LT ***,predictors of inpatient mortality for LT hospitalizations with AP were *** P values≤0.05 were considered statistically *** The total number of LT hospitalizations with AP increased from 305 in 2007 to 610 in *** was a rising trend of Hispanic(16.5%in 2007 to 21.1%in 2018,P-trend=0.0009)and Asian(4.3%in 2007 to 7.4%in 2019,p-trend=0.0002)LT hospitalizations with AP,while a decline was noted for Blacks(11%in 2007 to 8.3%in 2019,P-trend=0.0004).Furthermore,LT hospitalizations with AP had an increasing comorbidity burden as the Charlson Comorbidity Index(CCI)score≥3 increased from 41.64%in 2007 to 62.30%in 2019(P-trend<0.0001).We did not find statistically significant trends in inpatient mortality,mean length of stay(LOS),and mean total healthcare charge(THC)for LT hospitalizations with AP despite rising trends of complications such as sepsis,acute kidney failure(AKF),acute respiratory failure(ARF),abdominal abscesses,portal vein thrombosis(PVT),and venous thromboembolism(VTE).Between 2007–2019,6863 LT hospitalizations with AP were compared to 5649980 non-LT AP *** hospitalizations with AP were slightly older(53.5 vs 52.6 years,P=0.017)and

Smartphone Based Fall Detection and Logic Testing Application Using Android SDK

Smart systems aimed at detecting the fall of a person have increased significantly due to recent technological advances and availability of modular electronics. This work presents the use of embedded accelerometer and gyroscope in mobile phones to accurately detect and classify the type of fall a person is experiencing before suffering an impact. Early classification of fall type helps in optimizing the algorithm of the fall detection. User acceptance, feasibility and the limitations in the accuracy of the existing devices have also been considered in this study. High efficiency and low power approaches were emphasized with wireless capability that enhanced the system performance for variety of applications. There is a need of reducing the time for analyzing the smart algorithms designed. It is also emphasized that this application will be a good platform that can be used to test various algorithms and multiple sensors at a time with ease and obtain data analysis in a short period.

Impact of Cyclone Nilam on Tropical Lower Atmospheric Dynamics

A deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal on 28 October 2012, and developed into a cyclonic storm. After landfall near the south coast of Chennai, cyclone Nilam moved north-northwestwards. Coordinated experiments were conducted from the Indian stations of Gadanki（13.5？N, 79.2？E） and Hyderabad（17.4？N, 78.5？E） to study the modification of gravity-wave activity and turbulence by cyclone Nilam, using GPS radiosonde and mesosphere–stratosphere–troposphere radar data. The horizontal velocities underwent large changes during the closest approach of the storm to the experimental sites. Hodograph analysis revealed that inertia gravity waves（IGWs） associated with the cyclone changed their directions from northeast（control time） to northwest following the path of the cyclone. The momentum flux of IGWs and short-period gravity waves（1–8 h） enhanced prior to, and during, the passage of the storm（±0.05 m2s-2and ±0.3 m2s-2, respectively）, compared to the flux after its passage. The corresponding body forces underwent similar changes, with values ranging between ±2–4m s-1d-1and ±12–15 m s-1d-1. The turbulence refractivity structure constant（C2n） showed large values below 10 km before the passage of the cyclone when humidity in the region was very high. Turbulence and humidity reduced during the passage of the storm when a turbulent layer at ～17 km became more intense. Turbulence in the lower troposphere and near the tropopause became weak after the passage of the cyclone.

Determination of Fluoride in Various Samples Using a Fluoride Selective Electrode

Fluoride is widespread in the environment, water, air, vegetation and Earth’s crust which can entre ground and surface water by natural process. Fluoride in minute quantities is essential component for human health and help in normal mineralization of bone and formation of dental enamel. The determination of fluoride in some species was performed by using fluoride ion-selective electrode by direct measurement and standard addition method. The concentration of fluoride ion was determined in drinking water (from different place at Kathmandu), toothpaste, various brand of tea and coffees. The range of fluoride concentration in water sample was 0.16 to 0.39 mg/l, tea and coffee samples were 0.011 to 0.084 mg/l and its value of toothpaste was 0.026 to 0.75 mg/l. The concentration of fluoride ion obtain from different sample was compared with the legitimate value given by the world health organization.

Time-Frequency Analysis of Asymmetric Triaxial Galaxy Model Including Effect of Spherical Dark Halo Component

A method of time-frequency analysis (TFA) based on wavelets is applied to study the phase space structure of three-dimensional asymmetric triaxial galaxy enclosed by spherical dark halo component. The investigation is carried out in the presence and absence of dark halo component. Time-frequency analysis is based on the extraction of instantaneous frequency from the phase of the continuous wavelet transform. This method is comparatively fast and reliable. This method can differentiate periodic from quasi-periodic, chaotic sticky from chaotic non-sticky, ordered from chaotic and also, it can accurately determine the time interval of the resonance trapping and transitions too. Apart from that, the phenomenon of transient chaos can be explained with the help of time-frequency analysis. Comparison with the method of total angular momentum (denoted as Ltot) proposed recently is also presented.

Modified Efficient Families of Two and Three-Step Predictor-Corrector Iterative Methods for Solving Nonlinear Equations

In this paper, we present and analyze modified families of predictor-corrector iterative methods for finding simple zeros of univariate nonlinear equations, permitting near the root. The main advantage of our methods is that they perform better and moreover, have the same efficiency indices as that of existing multipoint iterative methods. Furthermore, the convergence analysis of the new methods is discussed and several examples are given to illustrate their efficiency.

Perturbations in Earth’s Atmosphere over An Indian Region during the Total Solar Eclipse on 22 July 2009

During a total solar eclipse(TSE)on 22 July 2009,atmospheric perturbations were monitored from the surface to thermosphere to understand TSE’s impact on the meteorological(temperature,relative humidity,wind speed,and wind direction)and chemical(O3 and NOx)parameters around Kadapa(14.28°N,78.42°E),a tropical semi-arid region of *** this purpose,an experiment was conducted at Yogi Vemana University Campus,Kadapa,India,to measure the temperature,wind speed,wind direction,and concentrations of ozone(O3),NO,NO2,and NOx by using the automatic weather station(AWS)and O3 *** the eclipse day(22 July 2009),the surface observations at Kadapa showed a reduction in temperature(about 1.1℃)because of the solar *** of the thermal,dynamical(wind),and chemical parameters on the TSE day with control days[preceding(21 July 2009)and succeeding(23 July 2009)the TSE]illustrated the influence of solar *** the eclipse period,the O3 mixing ratio decreased,while NO2 and NOx increased;however,NO remained *** addition,radio occultation(RO)temperature profiles from Constellation Observing System for Meteorology,Ionosphere,and Climate(COSMIC)/Formosat Satellite Mission(FORMOSAT-3)and Thermosphere,Ionosphere,and Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics(TIMED)satellites were utilized to understand the impact of TSE on dynamics of the middle and upper atmosphere from tropopause to the *** vertical resolution COSMIC observations revealed that during the solar eclipse,tropopause was cooler with twin peaks(double tropopause).The lower thermosphere between 110 and 130 km became warmer during the TSE,which might be caused by the dynamical response of the atmosphere in this region to the solar *** experimental data have provided very fine-scale variations of the atmospheric parameters both in time and height and also constituted a new set of results on TSE for further research.

Conclusive Growth of CdTe Nanorods by Solvothermal Decomposition Using Single Source Precursors

CdTe nanorods are synthesized by solvothermal decomposition, using single source molecular precursors (SSMP) cadmium (II), complex of bis-(aminopropyl telluride) (SSMP-I) and cadmium (II) bis-(isopropyl telluro) propane (SSMP-II) and quinoline as solvent at relatively low temperature (210°C). As synthesized nanomaterials are structurally characterized by XRD and SEM, SEM micrographs revealed formation of rod shapes structures whose dimensions change with the source precursor molecule. The average crystallite size estimated from XRD data is 29.78 and 28.94 nm respectively using Precursors I and II. The average size of nanorods is 1.237 μm and 0.15μm respectively, estimated from SEM micrographs. These are much larger than the average crystallite size estimated from XRD data. This is attributed to the agglomeration of nanocrystallites as quinoline is not a good capping agent.

Stabilization of Unknown Nonlinear Discrete-Time Delay Systems Based on Neural Network

This paper discusses about the stabilization of unknown nonlinear discrete-time fixed state delay systems. The unknown system nonlinearity is approximated by Chebyshev neural network (CNN), and weight update law is presented for approximating the system nonlinearity. Using appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional the stability of the nonlinear system is ensured by the solution of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, a relevant example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Robust Sliding Mode Control for Nonlinear Discrete-Time Delayed Systems Based on Neural Network

This paper presents a robust sliding mode controller for a class of unknown nonlinear discrete-time systems in the presence of fixed time delay. A neural-network approximation and the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional theory into the sliding-mode technique is used and a neural-network based sliding mode control scheme is proposed. Because of the novality of Chebyshev Neural Networks (CNNs), that it requires much less computation time as compare to multi layer neural network (MLNN), is preferred to approximate the unknown system functions. By means of linear matrix inequalities, a sufficient condition is derived to ensure the asymptotic stability such that the sliding mode dynamics is restricted to the defined sliding surface. The proposed sliding mode control technique guarantees the system state trajectory to the designed sliding surface. Finally, simulation results illustrate the main characteristics and performance of the proposed approach.
