Objective:To evaluate parasitemia by qPCR in patients undergoing etiological treatment and followed in a Brazilian reference ***:Parasite load was quantified by qPCR in 32 participants with chronic Chagas disease who were treated with *** analyses were performed before and after the treatment and parasite loads were compared prior and 12/18 months post the ***:Thirty-two participants were recruited and treated with benznidazole,and 20 were *** events(AE)were observed in 22 out of 29 participants that had safety data(76%),and dermatological alterations were the most frequently observed *** the 20 participants analyzed,13 and 7 completed 12 and 18 months follow-up after the treatment,respectively.12 Months after the final treatment,Trypanosoma cruzi was detectable in 3 patients by qPCR;18 months after the final treatment,Trypanosoma cruzi was detectable per qPCR in 4 of the 7 ***,between 12 and 18 months,7 participants of the 20 initial follow-up cases showed positive qPCR,indicating treatment ***:qPCR can be used as an alternative method for evaluating the effectiveness of the etiological treatment of CD,and can be applied to analyze early therapeutic *** study showed that benznidazole therapy had limited effectiveness in treating chronic CD patients,thus emphasizing the importance of conducting continued research for developing more effective therapies and diagnosis for CD.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different water deficiency and rehydration levels on the concentrations of osmoregulators in two plant species（Hymenaea courbaril and H. Stigonocarpa） in the Amazon. We adopted a 2×5×5 factorial system,referring to 2 species（H. courbaril and H. stigonocarpa）and 5 stages of hydration and rehydration. The five hydration and rehydration stages were established in:（1）Control treatment E0;（2） Plants with 13 days of stress after incubation—E13;（3） Plants with 26 days of stress E26;（4）The plants that were established after 26 days after incubation and rehydrated for two days（RD2）;（5） rehydrated for two days（RD4）. The plants that were established after 26 days after incubation and rehydrated for four days. The experiment totaled fifty young plants with five *** measurements were performed at the beginning of the experiment（E0） at 13（E13） and 26（E26） days after the water stress, in which the plants were rehydrated,repeating the analyses after two（RD2） and four（RD4）days. Both species increased the sucrose concentration by18%, with a decrease of 52% in starch content. The RD4 time presented the highest mean starch concentration(0.19 mmol g-1 of the residue for H. courbaril and0.27 mmol g;of residue for H. stigonocarpa). Increased proline concentrations were recorded for controls until RD2 for both species. For glycine betaine, the highest increases in treatments E26 and RD2 were observed for the H. courbaril species. Our rehydration period was not sufficient for total recovery of pre-stress concentrations of all studied solutes.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection has affected the entire world,causing the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic since it was first discovered in Wuhan,China in december *** the clinical presentation of the disease,in addition to fever,fatigue,cough,dyspnea,diarrhea,nausea,vomiting,and abdominal pain,infected patients may also experience neurological and psychiatric repercussions during the course of the disease and as a post-COVID-19 ***,headache,dizziness,olfactory and gustatory dysfunction,cerebrovascular disorders,neuromuscular abnormalities,anxiety,depression,and post-traumatic stress disorder can occur both from the infection itself and from social distancing and *** to current evidence about this infection,the virus has the ability to infect the central nervous system(CNS)via angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)receptors on host *** studies have shown the presence of ACE2 in nerve cells and nasal mucosa,as well as transmembrane serine protease 2,key points for interaction with the viral Spike glycoprotein and entry into the CNS,being olfactory tract and blood-brain barrier,through hematogenous dissemination,potential ***,the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in the CNS supports the development of neuropsychiatric *** management of these manifestations seems more complex,given that the dense parenchyma and impermeability of brain tissue,despite protecting the brain from the infectious process,may hinder virus ***,some alternatives used in non-COVID-19 situations may lead to worse prognosis of acute respiratory syndrome,requiring ***,the aim of this review is to bring more current points related to this infection in the CNS,as well as the repercussions of the isolation involved by the pandemic and to present perspectives on interventions in this scenario.

In this study,the pseudo-discontinuum modeling technique,called continuum Voronoi block model(CVBM),was applied to repre-sent the behavior of hard-rock pillars from underground mines subjected to high field *** CVBM’s ability to produce numerical results consistent with the observed behavior of pillars is demonstrated through the numerical analysis of a hypothetical case and a back analysis of the Creighton mine *** results show that the model can capture convergence displacements and explicitly show the formation of macro-fractures parallel to excavation walls,intact rock slabs,and V-shaped *** components are characteristics of brittle failure induced by highly stressed ground *** studies presented in this work confirm the CVBM as a convenient tool for the numerical modeling of intact rock pillars excavated in deep underground mines.

There are different methods to determinate leaf area in coffee plants;however, methodologies that allow measurement of leaf area accurately and in nondestructive ways are very important, as they are less economically costly and enable measurements on the same leaf over time, making it possible to describe accurate patterns of growth. The objective of this study was to investigate the applicability of the method to estimate leaf area using linear dimensions of leaves for improved genotypes of Coffea arabica L. and Coffea canephora Pierre ex A. Froehner. The experiment was conducted in two separated competition fields, each one following factorial schemes 10 × 2, with 10 genotypes and 2 methods to obtain the leaf area: measuring linear dimensions, and using equation model (estimated leaf area) and leaf area integrator (real leaf area). The genotypes for both Coffea arabica L. and Coffea canephora Pierre ex A. Froehner have different leaf areas, making it possible to discriminate groups of genotypes for both species using the size of their leaves as classification criteria. Even with the differences between genotypes, the pattern of leaf shape remains similar, confirming the applicability of the method to estimate leaf area using linear dimensions of leaves for improved genotypes, such as the model proposed by Barros, without the occurrence of loss of accuracy for the improved genotypes, for both Arabica and Conilon coffee, studied in this experiment.

We report the application of a solid lanthanum-ceria-zinc catalyst in the catalytic regeneration of diesel particulate filters （DPF） in diesel engines. We synthesized a CeO2- ZnO-La2O3 （Ce-Zn-La） mixed oxide by a lactic acid-mediated sol-gel method, which efficiently coated cordierite substrates for soot capture and combustion. We studied the effects of La loading on the physicochemical and catalytic properties of Ce-Zn mixed oxide during lowtemperature soot combustion processes. We characterized the synthesized catalysts by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, N2 adsorption, Raman spectroscopy, oxygen storage capacity （OSG）, and scanning and transmission electron microscopy （SEM and TEM）. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis （TGA/DTA） confirmed that the catalysts effectively reduced the soot oxidation temperature. The ternary Ce-Zn-La mixed oxide catalyst with Ce/Zn/La atomic ratio of 2：1：0.5 had the highest catalytic activity and promoted soot oxidation at temperatures below 390℃. This indicated that the large number of oxygen vacancies in the catalyst structure generated oxygen species at low temperatures. Raman spectroscopy measurements revealed the presence of oxygen vacancies and lattice defects in Ce-Zn-La samples, which were key parameters concerning the stability and redox properties of the prepared catalysts.

The Murucupi River belongs to the hydrographic network of the Para River estuary,at the southern portion of the Amazon River mouth,which consists of a fluvial-marine transitional zone under strong impact of both tidal and fluvial *** geochemical results obtained for bottom sediments from the Murucupi River,the Arrozal Channel,and the Para River indicate a natural variation of Pb,Cr,Cu,Zn,and Ni content among these water ways with no significant anthropogenic *** to the threshold effects level(TEL),the contents of trace metals do not offer risk to the local *** contrast,the differences in the Pb isotopic composition of sediments in the Murucupi River,the Arrozal Channel,and the Para River are *** isotopic signatures indicate an anthropogenic contribution of Pb in the Murucupi River originating from the domestic effluents of urban centers;industrial waste represented by red mud is not *** results demonstrate that the Pb isotopic signature is a prospective indicator for future contamination of bottom sediments by trace metals and is useful for identifying contaminants among the possible anthropogenic sources.

In vertebrates, the skeletal muscles of the body and their associated stem cells originate from muscle progenitor cells,during development. The specification of the muscles of the trunk, head and limbs, relies on the activity of distinctgenetic hierarchies. The major regulators of trunk and limb muscle specification are the paired-homeobox transcriptionfactors PAX3 and PAX7. Distinct gene regulatory networks drive the formation of the different muscles of thehead. despite the redeployment of diverse upstream regulators of muscle progenitor differentiation, the commitmenttowards the myogenic fate requires the expression of the early myogenic regulatory factors MYF5, MRF4, MYOD andthe late differentiation marker MYOG. The expression of these genes is activated by muscle progenitors throughoutdevelopment, in several waves of myogenic differentiation, constituting the embryonic, fetal and postnatal phases ofmuscle growth. In order to achieve myogenic cell commitment while maintaining an undifferentiated pool of muscleprogenitors, several signaling pathways regulate the switch between proliferation and differentiation of *** identification of the gene regulatory networks operating during myogenesis is crucial for the development ofin vitro protocols to differentiate pluripotent stem cells into myoblasts required for regenerative medicine.
