Incidence of pediatric injury visits decreased while trauma surgeries remained stable during the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic in Finland:a register-based study

Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic has reduced pediatric emergency department(ED)visits and *** study evaluates the incidence of pediatric trauma ED visits and surgeries in Finland during the first and second waves of the *** Three large Finnish hospitals,covering one-sixth of the Finnish pediatric population,*** on all ED visits and trauma surgeries between January 2017 and December 2020 were collected from hospital discharge *** incidences with 95%CI were calculated per 100000 person-months by Poisson exact method and compared by incidence rate ratio(IRR).Results During the lockdown the incidence of head injuries(IRR 0.19,95%CI 0.04 to 0.87),sprains(IRR 0.25,95%CI 0.14 to 0.46),and fractures(IRR 0.36,95%CI 0.25 to 0.51)decreased in the 13-17 years age *** the 4-12 years age group a 55%decrease(IRR 0.45,95%CI 0.22 to 0.96)in head injuries was *** the period of regional restrictions a subtle decrease in head injuries was seen in the 13-17 years age group(IRR 0.26,95%CI 0.09 to 0.78).During the lockdown in march 2020 the incidence of fractures decreased in the oldest age group(13-17 years)(IRR 0.62,95%CI 0.46 to 0.85),while a rebound in incidence was seen at the end of the lockdown period in *** The nationwide lockdown and the cancellation of sports and other hobbies markedly decreased the injuries among children aged 13-17 years,while the decrease was lower among children aged 4-12 *** of sports and hobbies did not affect patients under 4 years of age.

背景：这项诊断性研究是为了明确膝前痛和髌软骨软化症之间的相关性，以及探讨mRI对髌软骨软化症诊断的可信性。方法：患有膝前痛的青年人56例（中位年龄19．5岁），先行膝关节mR检查，再行关节镜验证，并将mRI诊断髌软骨损伤与关节镜下所见进行对比。结果：关节镜检查证实患有膝前痛的56例患者中，存在髌软骨软化25例（45％），25例滑膜肥厚，半月板撕裂4例，股胫关节软骨损伤4例和未见形态异常6例。本组由关节镜所见髌软骨软化症的程度和膝前痛的症状无相关性（p=0．83）。1．0-TmRI检出髌软骨软化症的阳性率是75％（95％可信区间，53％-89％），阴性率为72％（95％可信区间，56％-84％），其敏感性为60％（95％可信区间，41％~77％），特异性84％（95％可信区间，67％--03％），诊断准确率73％（95％可信区间，60％-83％）。I度损伤的敏感性为13％（95％可信区间，2％-49％），Ⅱ、Ⅲ或Ⅳ度损伤的敏感性为83％（95％可信区间，59％-94％）。结论：根据临床症状和目前的物理检查方法不能诊断髌软骨软化症。本研究证明髌软骨软化症的程度与膝前痛的症状并无相关性。因此，膝前痛的症状不能作为膝关节镜检查的指征。1．0—T的mRI诊断I度软骨损伤的敏感性较低，而对Ⅱ、Ⅲ或Ⅳ度损伤敏感性很高。mRI可以作为较重髌软骨软化症的一种准确诊断仪器。

A zero-valent iron and organic matter mixture enhances herbicide and herbicide degradation product removal in subsurface waters

The pesticide atrazine,its degradation products,and 2,6-dichlorobenzamide（BAm） are persistent in groundwater *** studied whether their dissipation can be enhanced with a mixture of a complex carbon source and zero-valent iron（ZVI） called EHC.The application rates were 1.0% and 2.0%（by weight） in subsurface sediments slurries（atrazine 30 mg/L）,and 2.0% in 1.5 m pilot-scale sediment columns with groundwater flowing through（atrazine 0.08,desethylatrazine DEA 0.03,BAm 0.02 μg/L）.In the slurries under aerobic conditions,atrazine of 0.88 ± 0.14 mg/g of EHC was dissipated chemically,as concentrations did not differ significantly between the slurries and their sterilized *** degradation occurred in the slurries under anaerobic *** the pilot-scale columns under water-saturated conditions,atrazine,DEA and BAm were not detected in effluents during 33,64 and 64 days from the beginning of the water flow through EHC columns,respectively,but thereafter traces of compounds could be *** atrazine or degradation products（BAm,DEA,deisopropylatrazine,desethyldeisopropylatrazine） could be extracted from the column sediments at the end of the *** a result,the sum of dissipated pesticides was about7.6 μg/g of EHC in columns under water-saturated conditions,and 0.88 mg/g of EHC in slurries under aerobic *** can be used to enhance the dissipation of studied pesticides in small quantities,preferentially under aerobic conditions.

Cell Wall Lignin is Polymerised by Class Ⅲ Secretable Plant Peroxidases in Norway Spruce

Class Ⅲ secretable plant peroxidases occur as a large family of genes in plants with many functions and probable redundancy. In this review we are concentrating on the evidence we have on the catalysis of lignin polymerization by class Ⅲ plant peroxidases present in the apoplastic space in the xylem of trees. Some evidence exists on the specificity of peroxidase isozymes in lignin polymerization through substrate specificity studies, from antisense mutants in tobacco and poplar and from tissue and cell culture lines of Norway spruce （Picea abies） and Zinnia elegans. In addition, real time （RT-）PCR results have pointed out that many peroxidases have tissue specific expression patterns in Norway spruce. Through combining information on catalytic properties of the enzymes, on the expression patterns of the corresponding genes, and on the presence of monolignols and hydrogen peroxide in the apoplastic space, we can show that specific peroxidases catalyze lignin polymerization in the apoplastic space of Norway spruce xylem.

Optimal investment analysis for heat pumps and nuclear heat in decarbonised Helsinki metropolitan district heating system

Decarbonisation of district heating and cooling(DHC)system in Helsinki metropolitan area requires investments in new energy technologies and approaches to replace fossil fuel fired district heating(DH)***-ment paths involving(a)DH heat pumps(HPs)from low quality heat sources and(b)small modular nuclear reactors(SmR)are compared by utilising investment analysis based on optimisation model depicting the as-sumed 2030 *** scenarios,with varying assumptions concerning existing DHC system,investment costs and electricity prices,are analysed in terms of new capacity and total annualised *** results indicate that the SmR option is more cost-efficient than the HP option with 4-8€/mWh difference in operation costs including annualised *** fired boiler investments,enabled in both options,are preferred to HP investments in most *** cost-efficiency of HP investments is sensitive to investment cost,whereas SmR investments are relatively stable to investment cost *** electricity market prices affect cost-efficiency of large-scale HPs,and investments in SmR cogeneration units take place only with high electricity prices.

Detection of Stiff Nodules Embedded in Soft Tissue Phantoms,mimicking Cancer Tumours,Using a Tactile Resonance Sensor

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common form of cancer among males in Europe and in the USA and the most common curative treatment is removal of the prostate, i.e. prostatectomy. After the removal, the prostate is histopathologically analysed. One area of interest is to examine the perifery of the prostate, as tumours on and near the surface can indicate that the PCa has spread to other parts of the body. There are no current methods to examine the surface of the prostate at the time of surgery. Tactile resonance sensors can be used for detecting areas of different stiffness in soft tissue. Human prostate tissue affected by cancer is usually stiffer than healthy tissue, and for this purpose, a tactile resonance sensor was developed. The aim of this study was to investigate the depth at which embedded stiffer volumes could be detected, using soft tissue phantoms. methods: With the tactile resonance sensor used in this study, the shift of the resonance frequency and the force at contact with tissue can be measured, and combined into a tissue stiffness parameter. The detection sensitivity of the sensor at impression depths, 0.4 and 0.8 mm, was measured for detection of inserted nodules of stiff silicone in softer silicone and in chicken muscle tissue, mimicking prostate tissue with cancer tumours. Results: measurements on the silicone samples detected the hidden stiffer object at a depth of 1 - 4 mm with a difference in the stiffness parameter of 80 - 900 mN/kHz (p mm the difference was smaller but still significant mN/kHz (p measurements on chicken muscle, the detectable depth was 4 mm (p model study suggests that, with only a small impression depth of ≤1 mm, the resonance sensor system described here can detect stiffness variations located at least 4 mm in silicone and chicken muscle, mimicking tumours in prostate tissue.

Recent Applications of Electrocoagulation in Treatment of Water and Wastewater—A Review

During the last two decades, and particularly during the last few years, the environmental sector has shown a largely growing interest in the treatment of different types of water and wastewater by electrocoagulation (EC). The aim of this work was to review studies, conducted mainly during 2008-2011, on the wide and versatile range of feasible EC applications employed in the purification of different types of water and wastewater. The EC applications discussed here were divided into 7 following categories: tannery, textile and colored wastewater;pulp and paper industry wastewater;oily wastewater;food industry wastewater;other types of industrial wastewater;surface water as well as model water and wastewater containing heavy metals, nutrients, cyanide and other elements and ions. In addition, this paper presents an overview of the optimum process conditions (treatment times, current densities, and initial pH) and removal efficiencies (mostly high) achieved for the EC applications discussed. In the vast majority of the studies discussed in this review, the aforementioned values were found to be in the range of 5-60 min (typically less than 30 min), 10-150 A/m2 and near neutral pH, respectively. Both operating costs and electrical energy consumption values were found to vary greatly depending on the type of solution being treated, being between 0.004 -6.74 €/m3 and 0.002-58.0 kWh/m3, but in general they were rather low (typically around 0.1-1.0 €/m3 and 0.4-4.0 kWh/m3).

The relative importance of soil moisture in predicting bacterial wilt disease occurrence

Soil-borne plant diseases cause major economic losses *** is partly because their epidemiology is difficult to predict in agricultural fields,where multiple environmental factors could determine disease *** we used a combination of field sampling and direct experimentation to identify key abiotic and biotic soil properties that can predict the occurrence of bacterial wilt caused by pathogenic Ralstonia *** analyzing 139 tomato rhizosphere soils samples isolated from six provinces in China,we first show a clear link between soil properties,pathogen density and plant ***,disease outcomes were positively associated with soil moisture,bacterial abundance and bacterial community *** on soil properties alone,random forest machine learning algorithm could predict disease outcomes correctly in 75%of cases with soil moisture being the most significant *** importance of soil moisture was validated causally in a controlled greenhouse experiment,where the highest disease incidence was observed at 60%of maximum water holding ***,our results show that local soil properties can predict disease occurrence across a wider agricultural landscape,and that management of soil moisture could potentially offer a straightforward method for reducing crop losses to ***.
