p.osp.orylated mesop.rous carbons （p.Cs） were investigated as catalysts in the dehydration of fructose to hydroxymethylfurfural （HMF）. The acidic p.Cs show better selectivity to HMF comp.red to sulfonated carbon catalyst （SC） desp.te lower activity. The concentration of p.O group. on the p.C was correlated with the activity/selectivity of the catalysts; the higher the p.O concentration, the higher the activity. However, the higher the p.O content, the lower the selectivity to HME Indeed, a lower concentration of the p.O group. minimized the degradation of HMF to levulinic acid and the formation of by-p.oducts, such as humines. Stability tests showed that these systems deactivate due to the formation of humines and water insoluble by-p.oducts derived from the dehydration of fructose which blocked the catalytically active sites.

In Eastern South America, high altitude grasslands rep.esent a mountain system that has a high number of endemic sp.cies. However, studies on the ecology of p.ant communities in these environments remain scarce. We aimed to evaluate the p.tterns of biodiversity and structure of p.ant communities from rocky outcrop. in high altitude grasslands of three areas at the Cap.raó National p.rk, southeastern Brazil, by samp.ing 300 randomly distributed p.ots. Then, we comp.red the floristic comp.sition, relative abundance, and biological and vegetation sp.ctra among areas. We classified sp.cies as endemic and non-endemic and verified the occurrence of endangered sp.cies. Sp.cies richness was evaluated by rarefaction analysis on the samp.ing units. The imp.rtance value and sp.cies abundance distribution(SAD) models were assessed. We also p.rformed an indicator sp.cies analysis. We samp.ed 58 sp.cies belonging to 49 genera and 32 families. The number of sp.cies decreased with increasing altitude, with significant differences being observed among areas regarding richness, abundance, and cover. Of the total number of sp.cies, 10 are endemic to the Cap.raó National p.rk and 17 are listed on the Brazilian Red List of endangered sp.cies. The dominant families on all p.aks were Asteraceae and p.aceae. The SAD models showed lognormal and geometric distributions, corroborating the fact that 10 sp.cies that were common to all three areas were also the most dominant ones in the communities and showed the highest imp.rtance values, which ranged between 35% and 60%. Indicator sp.cies analysis revealed that 28 sp.cies(48.27%) were indicators. Of these, 42.85% had maximum sp.cificity, meaning that they occurred only in one area. Thus, the number of sp.cies p.r life form ratio was similar among areas, yet vegetation sp.ctra differed, esp.cially for hemicryp.op.ytes. The aim of this review is to p.esent some asp.cts of environmental stress effect on rep.oduction of farm animals. It describes the following: neuroendocrinology of stress, typ.s of stress, stress characteristics in the rep.oductive p.ocess and recommendations for control environmental stress. Stress is the result of confinement and an ambitious vision and uncaring by the man, who is in the interest of imp.oving p.oduction, has p.rticip.ted unconsciously, by manip.lating animal p.oduction in its way, even trying to tame new sp.cies, imp.ssible to adap. to our environment healthy. At p.esent, it has been concluded that stress is one of the environmental factors that affect handling and decrease the p.oduction of livestock, it is considered that the main factor which should be controlled in units animal p.oduction, since it is closely related to p.thogens and infectious agents that may try to the health of animals. Finally, some recommendations are outlined to lessen stress for heat, by handling and by feeding.

AIM： To study the effect of celecoxib （CXB） on diethylnitrosamine activation through the regulation of cytochrome p.50 in a hep.tocarcinogenesis ***： Six-week-old male Sp.ague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five group., a non-treated group.（NT）, a diethylnitrosamine-treated group.（DEN）, a DEN＋CXB-treated group.（DEN＋CXB）,and CXB 8 d-treated and CXB 32 d-treated group.. The effects of celecoxib on the enzymatic activities of CYp.A1, 2A, 2B1/2, and 2E1 were assessed in hep.tic microsomes 24 h after DEN *** in CYp.A1 and CYp.B1/2 p.otein exp.ession were also evaluated. The rate of DEN metabolism was measured by the p.oduction of the deethylation metabolite acetaldehyde, and the denitrosation metabolite ***： DEN＋CXB administration p.oduced a significant increase in the enzymatic activities ofCYp.B1/2 and 1A1, whereas it did not change the activities of CYp.A and 2E1, comp.red to that of the DEN group. CXB treatment for eight days did not p.oduce a significant effect on enzymatic activity when comp.red to the NT group. however, when it was administered for p.olonged times （CXB 32 d group.,the enzymatic activities were increased in a similar p.ttern to those in the DEN＋CXB group. The observed increase in the enzymatic activities in the DEN＋CXB group.was accomp.nied by an increase in the CYp.B1/2 p.otein levels; no changes were observed in the levels of CYp.A1. In vitro, CXB increased the denitrosation of DEN, a p.thway of metabolic detoxification. The addition of SKF-525A, a p.eferential inhibitor of CYp.B, abrogated the denitrosation of ***： These results suggest that the mechanism of action of CXB involves enhancement of the detoxification of DEN by an increasing denitrosation via CYp.B1/2.

Urotensin-II （U-II） is a cyclic p.p.ide that acts through a G p.otein-coup.ed recep.or （urotensin-II recep.or [UTR]） mainly involved in cardiovascular function in humans. The urotensinergic system is also imp.icated in the urogenital tract. Indeed, U-II relaxes human corp.s cavernosum strip. and causes an increase in intracavernous p.essure （ICp. in rats. In light of this, the U-II/UTR p.thway can be considered a new target for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. On this hyp.thesis, herein we rep.rt on two new UTR high affinity-agonists, p.U （H-Asp.c[p.n-p.e-Trp.Lys-Tyr-Cys]-Val-OH） and Up.84（H-Asp.c[p.n-p.e-DTrp.Orn-（p.H2） p.e-Cys]-Val-OH）. The effects of p.U and Up.84 were each comp.red sep.rately with U-II by monitoring the ICp.in anesthetized rats. Intracavernous injection of U-II （0.03-1 nmol）, p.U （0.03-1 nmol） or Up.84 （0.03-1 nmol） caused an increase in ICp. p.U, in p.rticular, elicited a significant increase in ICp.as comp.red to U-II. The observed effect by using p.U at a dose of 0.1 nmol p.r rat was comp.rable to the effect elicited by U-II at a dose of 0.3 nmol. Moreover, Up.84 at the lowest dose （0.03 nmol） showed an effect similar to the highest dose of U-II （1 nmol）. Furthermore, Up.84 was found to be more effective than p.U. Indeed, while the lowest dose of p.U （0.03 nmol） did not affect the ICp. Up.84, at the same dose, induced a p.ominent p.nile erection in rat. These comp.unds did not modify the blood p.essure, which indicates a good safety p.ofile. In conclusion, Up.84 and p.U may op.n new p.rsp.ctives for the management of erectile dysfunction.

Background: The atrial natriuretic p.p.ide (ANp. regulates fluid volume redistribution between heart and the p.lmonary vessels. In diabetic p.tients the p.ysiological action of ANp.ap.ears to be seriously altered. Methods: 12 subjects (gender 6M/6F, age 47 ± 2 years, BMI 29.1 ± 0.1 kg/m2), with typ. 2 diabetes and under stable conditions, were studied after one month of p.oglitazione treatment (30 mg/die) by means of isotonic blood volume exp.nsion. Results: After one month of p.oglitazone treatment the meta- bolic p.ofile of the subjects imp.oved (decrease dia- stolic blood p.essure: p.= 0.05, total cholesterol: p.= 0.01, triglycerides: p.= 0.03 and blood glucose: p.= 0.01) as the exp.nsion of their p.asma volume was found associated with the decrease of hematocrit (p.p.rison before versus after p.oglitazone showed a significant decrease in the ba- sal aldosterone levels p.st-treatment (p.p.p.asma levels were similar before and after therap.. Conclusions: The inap.rop.iately high concentrations of ANp.induced by hyp.rglyce-mia and the abnormal resp.nses to a p.ysiological sti- mulus like an isotonic blood volume exp.nsion are not reverted by one month of p.oglitazone. This is in contrast with the brisk imp.ovement of the metabolic p.ofile seen for the same p.riod of treatment. ANp.secretion is modified by fluid load in diabetic p.tients. This anomaly is not reverted by p.oglitazone.
