Repeated cupping manipulation temporary decreases natural killer lymphocyte frequency, activity and cytotoxicity

OBJECTIVE： Elevated natural killer lymphocyte cytotoxicity（NKc） has been linked with reproductive problems in women. Here we evaluate the potential benefit of cupping therapy（CT） in reproductionrelated immune ***： This was a pilot clinical study. participants were he althy fe male volunteers（n = 23） with elevated NKc, and received repeated CT 3 times over 5 d（inner pressure 40–50 kpa, 40 min; 12–1 5 cups）. Lymphocyte subsets, NKc and NK lymphocyte activity（NKa） were measured in blood on day 0（initial levels, before the first treatment） and days 3, 10 and 17 after the last CT treatment, using the K562-stimulated CD69 expression ***： As a result of CT manipulations NKa was reduced on days 3 and 10, and NK percentage was reduced on day 10. NKc was most sensitive to CT treatment, resulting in their decreased counts at 3, 10 and 17 d post CT. CT treatment decreased NKc in the majority of individuals（87%）, but the magnitude of the effect was variable. Out of 23 subjects 9（39.1%） had a 2–3 fold decrease of NKc on days 3, 10 and 17; 11（47.8%） started to show a decrease in NKc later, or more quickly returned to base levels; and only 3（13%） subjects displayed no effect of CT on NKc. Expectedly, no changes in T-cell subsets（CD3CD4, CD3CD8, HLADR, CD158a） were observed after ***： CT decreased NK cell numbers, their activity and cytotoxicity. Low cost, safety, noninvasive nature and ease of administration make CT a promising approach for NKc down-regulation.

Resistive plate Chamber （RpC） modules will be used as one part of the cosmic muon veto system in the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment. A total of 189 RpC modules will cover the three water pools in the experiment. To achieve track reconstruction and high efficiency, each module consists of 4 layers, each of which contains two sizes of bare chambers. The placement of bare chambers is reversed in different layers to reduce the overlapping dead areas. The module efficiency and patch emciency were studied both in simulation and test of the data analysis. 143 modules have been constructed and tested. The preliminary study shows that the module and patch 3 out of 4 layers efficiency reaches about 98%.

The paper reports some technical solutions, which suggested or used for increasing of environmental protection during accidents at Npps. For NNps with two protective shells and pressure release system such as WWER-1000 a comprehensive, passive-mode environmental protection system of decontamination of the radioactive steam-air mixture from the containment and the intercontainment area was suggested. This system includes the “wet” stage (scrubbers, etc.), the “dry” stage (sorption module), and also an ejector, which in a passive mode is capable of solving the multi-purpose task of decontamination of the air-steam mixture. For WWER-440/230 Npps three protection levels: 1) a jet-vortex condenser;2) the spray system;3) a sorption module were suggested and installed. For modern designs of new generation Npps, which do not provide for pressure release systems, a new passive filtering system together with the passive heat-removal system, which can be used during severe accidents in case all power supply units become unavailable, was proposed and after modernization was installed at the KudanKulam Npp (India).

This study reports a hybrid method which allows the formation of biocomposites on stainless steel implants. The main idea of the method is to create multilayer coatings consisting of titanium primer layer and a microarc calcium-phosphate coating. The titanium layer is deposited from plasma of continuous vacuum-arc discharge, and calcium-phosphate coating is formed by the microarc oxidation technique. The purpose of the hybrid method is to combine the properties of good strength stainless steel with high bioactivity of calcium-phosphate coating. This paper describes the chemical composition, morphology characteristics, adhesion and the ability of the formed biocomposites to stimulate the processes of osteoinduction. It is expedient to use such biocomposites for implants which carry heavy loads and are intended for long-term use, e.g. total knee endoprosthesis.

Tricin (and tricin containing plant extracts) has been shown to exert a pronounced antiviral activity, high radical scavenging activity and is favored for its safety profile. In the present study we have analyzed the pharmacokinetics of tricin after a single intravenous and oral administration to Wistar rats of an ethanol extract of Calamagrostis Adans and Deschampsia Beauv plants (test agent) at different doses. Tricin concentrations in blood plasma and blood cells were measured at different time points. Two-compartment (for intravenous injection) and one compartment (for oral administration) models were used for the analysis of tricin pharmacokinetics. The results showed that the pharmacokinetics of tricin after intravenous injection of test agent has a pronounced biphasic character, is well described by a two-compartment pharmacokinetic model, and is characterized by non-linear dose-dependence. The pharmacokinetics of tricin administered orally is characterized by a high rate of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood and rather slow elimination, which leads to a large volume of distribution in the body and a fairly high bioavailability. The obtained results indicate the advantages of the oral route of administration over the intravenous route.

This paper presents the equilibrium desorption isotherms and the isosteric heat of sorption of a mixture containing mechanically dewatered fermentation residue(obtained from a blend of chicken,swine and cattle manure)used in biogas plants and corn spoiled silage in a ratio of 2:*** moisture desorption isotherms of the fermentation residue were determined at 32°C,40°C and 80°C and in the relative humidity range of 0.057/1 using static gravimetric *** equations were used to analyze the desorption data of Modified Henderson,Modified Halsey,Modified Oswin,Modified Chung–pfost and Modified GAB *** constants of the model equations were calculated by non-linear regression *** Modified Henderson model fitted to the desorption isotherm data *** the proposed function,the final moisture content of the material can be determined as long as it can be dried in infinite time with the drying gas in the given *** isosteric heat of desorption was calculated by using the Modified Henderson model in the studied temperature range based on the Clausius–Clapeyron *** isosteric heat varied between 46 k J·mol-1 and 67 k J·mol-1 at moisture levels 1.91 b Xep-1 for the material.
