BACKGROUND ventriculoperitoneal(vP)shunt placement has become a standard of care procedure in managing hydrocephalus for drainage and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)into the *** pseudocysts containing CSF are the common long-term complication of this frequently performed procedure,mainly because vP shunts have significantly prolonged *** these,liver CSF pseudocysts are rare entities that may cause shunt dysfunction,affect normal organ function,and therefore pose therapeutic *** SUMMARY A 49-year-old man with history of congenital hydrocephalus status post bilateral vP shunt placement presented with progressively worsening dyspnea on exertion,abdominal discomfort/*** computed tomography(CT)scan revealed a large CSF pseudocyst in the right hepatic lobe with the tip of vP shunt catheter into the hepatic cyst *** underwent robotic laparoscopic cyst fenestration with a partial hepatectomy,and repositioning of vP shunt catheter to the right lower quadrant of the ***-up CT demonstrated a significant reduction in hepatic CSF *** A high index of clinical suspicion is required for early detection of liver CSF pseudocysts since their presentation is often asymptomatic and cunning early in the ***-stage liver CSF pseudocysts could have adverse outcomes on the treatment course of hydrocephalus as well as on hepatobiliary *** is paucity of data to define the management of liver CSF pseudocyst in current guidelines due to rare nature of this *** reported occurrences have been managed by laparotomy with debridement,paracentesis,radiological imaging guided fluid aspiration and laparoscopic-associated cyst *** surgery is an additional minimally invasive option in the management of hepatic CSF pseudocyst;however,its use is limited by lack of widespread availability and cost of surgery.

Predictive value of multi-detector computed tomography for accurate diagnosis of serous cystadenoma:Radiologic-pathologic correlation

AIM:To identify multi-detector computed tomography(MDCT) features most predictive of serous cystadenomas(SCAs),correlating with histopathology,and to study the impact of cyst size and MDCT technique on reader ***:The MDCT scans of 164 patients with surgically verified pancreatic cystic lesions were reviewed by two readers to study the predictive value of various morphological features for establishing a diagnosis of *** in lesion characterization and reader conf idence were correlated with lesion size(≤3cm or≥3cm) and scanning protocols(dedicated vs routine).RESULTS:28/164 cysts(mean size,39 mm;range,8-92mm) were diagnosed as SCA on *** MDCT features predictive of diagnosis of SCA were microcystic appearance(22/28,78.6%),surface lobulations(25/28,89.3%) and central scar(9/28,32.4%).Stepwise logistic regression analysis showed that only microcystic appearance was signifi cant for CT diagnosis of SCA(P=0.0001).The sensitivity,specificity and PPv of central scar and of combined microcystic appearance and lobulations were 32.4%/100%/100% and 68%/100%/100%,*** reader confidence was higher for lesions>3cm(P=0.02) and for MDCT scans performed using thin collimation(1.25-2.5mm) compared to routine 5 mm collimation exams(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:Central scar on MDCT is diagnostic of SCA but is seen in only one third of *** morphology is the most significant CT feature in diagnosis of SCA.A combination of microcystic appearance and surface lobulations offers accuracy comparable to central scar with higher sensitivity.

Understanding the quantum dynamics of spin defects and their coherence properties requires an accurate modeling of spinspin interaction in solids and molecules,for example by using spin Hamiltonians with parameters obtained from first principles *** present a real-space approach based on density functional theory for the calculation of spin-Hamiltonian parameters,where only selected atoms are treated at the all-electron level,while the rest of the system is described with the pseudopotential *** approach permits calculations for systems containing more than 1000 atoms,as demonstrated for defects in diamond and silicon *** show that only a small number of atoms surrounding the defect needs to be treated at the all-electron level,in order to obtain an overall all-electron accuracy for hyperfine and zero-field splitting *** also present results for coherence times,computed with the cluster correlation expansion method,highlighting the importance of accurate spin-Hamiltonian parameters for quantitative predictions of spin dynamics.

Formulation and evaluation of herbal gel of Pothos scandens Linn

Objective:To formulate Pothos scandens Linn(***) leaf extract in to a gel and investigate their burn wound healing ***:Ethanolic extract of dried leaves of P. scandens were subjected to priliminery phytochemical evaluation and wound healing activities *** gel formulations of ethanolic extract of ***(4%w/v) were prepared using polymers carbopol 934 and carbopol 940 bv varying their *** formulations were evaluated for physical parameters,drug ***,viscosity,***. primary skin irritation,pharmacological activity and ***:Wound healing studies of ethanolic extract revealed that *** treated animals were found to epithelise in 22 days while the solvent control and the untreated rats epithelise within 35 and 40 days respectively. The formulation with 1.5%w/w carbopol 934 was found to be more promising as it shows better physicochemical characteristics,higher pharmacological activity and stability compared to other ***:*** alcoholic extract shows significant improvement in burn wound contraction and hence this is a promising candidate in burn wound healing.

The Potential Contribution of Wildlife Sanctuary to Forest Conservation: A Case Study from Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

Forest vegetation of a protected area(Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary) in Kumaun region(west Himalaya) was analysed for structure,composition and representativeness across three different altitudinal belts,lower(1,600-1,800 m a.s.l.),middle(1,900-2,100 m a.s.l.) and upper(2,200-2,400 m a.s.l.) during 2009-2011 using standard phytosociological *** aspects(east,west,north and south) in each altitudinal belt were chosen for sampling to depict maximum representation of vegetation in the *** structure and regeneration behaviour was analysed seasonally for two years to show the establishment and growth of tree species.A total of 147 plant species were recorded from the entire region of which 27 tree species were selected for detailed *** number was recorded at upper(18 species),and lowest at lower altitudinal belt(15 species).The relative proportion of species richness showed higher contribution of tree layer at each altitudinal *** population structure,based on the number of individuals,revealed a greater proportion of seedling layer at each altitudinal *** relative proportion of seedlings increases significantly along altitudinal belts(pved in sapling and tree *** density of sapling and seedling species varied non-significantly across seasons(p>0.05).The density values decreased in summer and increased during rainy *** far as the regeneration status is concerned,middle and upper altitudinal belts showed maximum number of species with fair regeneration as compared to lower altitudinal *** density diameter distribution of tree species showed highest species density and richness in the smallest girth class and decreased in the succeeding girth *** study suggests that patterns of regeneration behaviour would determine future structural and compositional changes in the forest *** is suggested that the compositional changes vis-à-vis role of ‘New' and ‘Not

Development and validation of analytical method for the estimation of lamivudine in rabbit plasma

Lamivudine has been widely used in the treatment of HIv disease. A reliable, sensitive reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography （RP-HPLC） method was developed and validated for lamivudine in rabbit plasma. The method was developed on Hypersil BDS C-18 column （250 mm ＊ 4.6 mm, 5 μm） using a mobile phase of 0.25% Triethylamine buffer （pH 3.0）： acetonitrile （70：30, v/v）. The efficient was monitored by Uv detector at 256 nm. The total run time was 15 min with a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Calibration curve was linear over the concentration range of 25-2000 ng/mL. The retention times of lamivudine and internal standard （Nelfinavir） were 8.78 min and 10.86 min, respectively. The developed RP-HPLC method can be successfully applied for the quantitative pharmacokinetic parameters determination of lamivudine in rabbit model.

Flares of joint inflammation and resistance to currently available biologic therapeutics in rheumatoid arthritis(RA)patients could reflect activation of innate immune ***,we show that a TLR7 GU-rich endogenous ligand,miR-Let7b,potentiates synovitis by amplifying RA monocyte and fibroblast(FLS)***-Let7b ligation to TLR7 in macrophages(MΦs)and FLSs expanded the synovial inflammatory ***,secretion of M1 monokines triggered by miR-Let7b enhanced Th1/Th17 cell *** showed that IRAK4 inhibitor(i)therapy attenuated RA disease activity by blocking TLR7-induced M1 MΦor FLS activation,as well as monokine-modulated Th1/Th17 cell ***4i therapy also disrupted RA osteoclastogenesis,which was amplified by miR-Let7b ligation to joint myeloid ***,the effectiveness of IRAK4i was compared with that of a TNF inhibitor(i)or anti-IL-6R treatment in collagen-induced arthritis(CIA)and miR-Let7b-mediated *** found that TNF or IL-6R blocking therapies mitigated CIA by reducing the infiltration of joint F480+iNOS+MΦs,the expression of certain monokines,and Th1 cell ***,these biologic therapies were unable to alleviate miR-Let7b-induced *** superior efficacy of IRAK4i over anti-TNF or anti-IL-6R therapy in miR-Let7b-induced arthritis or CIA was due to the ability of IRAK4i therapy to restrain the migration of joint F480+iNOS+MΦs,vimentin+fibroblasts,and CD3+T cells,in addition to negating the expression of a wide range of monokines,including IL-12,MIP2,and IRF5 and Th1/Th17 *** conclusion,IRAK4i therapy may provide a promising strategy for RA therapy by disconnecting critical links between inflammatory joint cells.
