Biosecurity risk mapping and gap analysis in South East Asia

Introduction:In today’s globalized world where travel is commonplace,a threat in one region can easily spread throughout the whole *** is,therefore,essential for multi-disciplinary risk assessment,risk mitigation,and collaborative strategies to take place among various stakeholders to mitigate *** strategic plan to deal with biosecurity,therefore,needs to be a complete loop,top to bottom and bottom to *** paper describes the results of Project 62,which involved mapping and biosecurity risk assessment in South East *** and methods:The mapping and biosecurity risk assessment activities for the participating partner countries was carried out in two *** first phase involved risk assessment by six partnercountry bio-experts for their own countries and the second phase involved conducting a joint Strengths,Weaknesses,Opportunities,and Threats(SWOT)analysis and risk assessment for the South East Asian region as whole,together with international bio-experts at a *** and discussion:The following key recommendations of the project show that biosecurity needs to be addressed through stakeholder engagement at multiple levels starting from the top echelons of the government to the worker who needs to recognize and understand the threats they might face:*** analysis of existing information from BWC ISU Article 10,IHR capacities,JEE,UN Security Council Resolution 1540 Action Plan,EU CBRN NAP,and other relevant sources to develop a common understanding of the definition of biosecurity for all stakeholders in the *** of programs for awareness building in biosecurity,not limiting them to laboratory biosecurity but using an all-inclusive approach to include border biosecurity,pandemic response,*** of a country-specific list of high-risk biological *** standardized biosecurity training,including responsible conduct in biosecurity *** for one-health and security interface

Bioactivity guided isolation of mosquito larvicide from Piper longum

Objective:To isolate the larvicidal component from the fruits of Piper longum（***） against the filariasis vector,Culex quinquefasciatus（***）.Methods:Pulverized fruits of *** were subjected to soxhlet extraction using series of organic solvents of increasing *** the solvent extracts were verified for their larvicidal efficacy against 4th instar larvae of *** employing standard WHO *** fractionation through column chromatography lead to the isolation of a bioactive amide, pipyahyine from the petroleum ether ***:Petroleum ether extract was found to be the most active fraction among all the extracts tested with LC50 and LC90 being 1.03 and 2.04 ppm ***,pipyahyine,an isolated component of the same fraction was found to be even more effective than the parent extract in terms of LC50 being 0.58 and 1.88 ppm respectively. Conclusions:From the results,it is evident that *** can be considered as a powerful arsenal for the control of mosquito population.

Prediction of oil-water flow patterns, radial distribution of volume fraction, pressure and velocity during separated flows in horizontal pipe

Flow of two immiscible fluids gives rise to variety of flow patterns,which influence transportation *** this work,we present detailed analysis on the prediction of flow pattern maps and radial distribution of volume fraction,pressure and velocity of a pair of immiscible liquids through a horizontal pipeline by computational fluid dynamics（CFD） simulation using ANSYS FLUENT *** viscous oil and water have been taken as the fluid pair for *** of fluid（VOF） method has been employed to predict various flow patterns by assuming unsteady flow,immiscible liquid pair,constant liquid properties,and co-axial *** the grid independent study,we have selected 47 037 number of quadrilateral mesh elements for the entire *** successfully predicts almost all the flow patterns（viz.,plug,slug,stratified wavy,stratified mixed and annular）,except dispersion of oil in water and dispersion of water in *** simulated results are validated with experimental results of oil volume fraction and flow pattern *** distribution of volume fraction,pressure and velocity profiles describe the nature of the stratified wavy,stratified mixed and annular flow *** profiles help to developing the phenomenological correlations of interfacial characteristics in two-phase flow.

Increased plasma malondialdehyde and fructosamine in anemic H pylori infected patients:Effect of treatment

AIM: To unravel the possible association of malon-dialdehyde (MDA) and fructosamine in anemic H pylori infected patients and to observe the alteration in MDA and fructosamine levels in these patients after treatment for one ***: Fructosamine, MDA and glucose were estimated in 22 anemic H pylori infected patients and 16 healthy controls. Hematological parameters were also evaluated in both the groups using Sysmex-K-100 automated cell counter. The H pylori infected patients were randomly divided into two groups. H pylori infected patients in GroupⅠreceived both iron supplementation and anti-H pylori therapy, while patients in Group Ⅱ received only iron supplementation. All the biochemical and hematological parameters were estimated after one month of treatment. RESULTS: In anemic H pylori infected patients, while MDA (5.41 ± 2.16 vs 2.26 ± 0.50; P < 0.05) and fructosamine (2.64 ± 0.93 vs 1.60 ± 0.35; P < 0.05) were significantly increased, iron (32.72 ± 14.93 vs 110.25 ± 26.58; P < 0.05), hemoglobin (6.9 ± 2.6 vs 12.66 ± 0.74; P < 0.05) and ferritin (28.82 ± 16.27 vs 140.43 ± 30.72; P < 0.05) levels were significantly decreased compared with the controls. With partial correlation analysis, fructosamine was found to have a significant positive correlation with MDA. In GroupⅠ, while MDA level decreased significantly (3.11 ± 1.73 vs 5.50 ± 2.46; P < 0.05), there was a significant increase in iron (84.09 ± 29.51 vs 36.09 ± 17.81; P < 0.05), hemoglobin (10.40 ± 1.11 vs 7.42 ± 1.90; P < 0.05) and ferritin (116.91 ± 63.34 vs 30.46 ± 17.81; P < 0.05) levels after one month. There was no significant change in the levels of fructosamine in groupⅠafter treatment. Similarly, no significant alterations were noted in the levels of MDA, fructosamine, hemoglobin or ferritin in Group Ⅱ patients after one month of ***: An increased level of fructosamine and MDA was found in anemic H pylori infected patients. Investigation on the key aspects of l-arginine para nitrobenzoate monohydrate single crystal:A non-linear optical material

In the contemporary days, non-linear optical materials(NLO) are getting higher attention as per the increasing demand in optical communication and data storage technology. Consequently, they explore various physical properties of the NLO material for their industrial applications. In current report, l-arginine p-nitrobenzoate monohydrate(LANB) single crystals were obtained by adopting slow cooling technique. The structural confirmation of grown single crystal was carried out using single crystal X-Ray diffractometer. Presence of strain within single crystal was deduced using Hall–Williamson relation. Various defects associated within single crystal were assessed using high resolution XRD. Additionally, its crystalline quality was again confirmed by time resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy(TRPL). Using transmission spectra, the cut off wavelength and band gap of the host material was determined to be nearly 420 nm and 2.9 e V respectively. The dielectric property has been recorded by varying the frequency ranging from 50 Hz to 100 k Hz. The curve suggests that dielectric loss value is less at high frequency ensures the suitability of crystal in photonics and NLO based *** laser damage threshold values were also measured for single and multiple shots. Thermal parameters of the titled compound were calculated using PPE. In photoconductivity measurement, negative photoconductivity has been observed in titled compound. Microhardness studies were also performed on single crystal to explore its mechanical properties.

Water absorption characteristics of Canarium Schweinfurthii fruits

Water absorption characteristics of two varieties of Canarium Schweinfurthii ***(Canarium Schweinfurthii *** and short)essential for predicting their suitable absorption conditions was investigated at three different temperatures(35,50,65C).Increase in moisture content of the fruits was measured at one-hour interval until constant values were obtained after five successive intervals of moisture *** of soluble constituents,textural and nutritive qualities of the rehydrated products and their thermodynamic behavior were also measured and *** results obtained revealed that saturation time for 35,50 and 65C of long and short varieties are 14,18 and 40 h and 18,22 and 36 h *** of absorption of the fruits differ significantly(p>0.05)with temperature and not with the *** absorption rate of Canarium Schweinfurthii *** and short varieties are 2.71 and 2.25 kg/h *** moisture bearing capacity,textural,and nutritive qualities of the reconstituted products showed no significant difference among varieties at different temperatures *** soaked at 35C produced reusable residual water,retained their nutritive values and soluble constituent more than other soaking temperatures ***,the absorption reaction is endothermic with negative entropy and Gibbs energy values were above *** model had the best quality for describing the absorption characteristics of both Canarium Schweifurthii ***.

Our study is to evaluate the potential bioactive compound of Nocardiopsis ***1(KT235640)and its antibacterial activity against multi drug resistant strains(MDRS)on urinary tract infections(UTIs).Two brown algae samples were collected and were subjected to isolation of endophytic actinomycetes.100 strains of actinomycetes were isolated from algal samples based on observation of morphology and physiological characters.40 strains were active in antagonistic activity against various clinical *** the strains,10 showed better antimicrobial activity against MDRS on *** secondary metabolite of Nocardiopsis ***1(KT235640)has showed tremendous antibacterial activity against UTI pathogens compared to other *** of various growth parameters were used for synthesis of secondary metabolites,such as optimum pH 7,incubation time 5e7 days,temperature(30C),salinity(5%),fructose and mannitol as the suitable carbon and nitrogen *** 100 μg/ml concentration MIC of Nocardiopsis ***1(KT235640)showed highest percentage of inhibition against Proteus mirabilis(85%),and ***,Staphylococcus auerues,Psuedomonas aeroginasa,Enterobactor sp and Coagulinase negative staphylococci 78e85%respectively.

Evaluation of phenolic contents and antioxidant activities of brown seaweeds belonging to Turbinaria spp.(Phaeophyta,Sargassaceae) collected from Gulf of Mannar

Objective:To evaluate the antioxidant activities and total phenolic contents of brown seaweeds belonging to Turbinaria spp.[Turbinaria conoides(***)and Turbinaria ornata(***)collected from Gulf of Mannar of southeastern coast of India in various in vitro ***:The antioxidant activity was evaluated using different in vitro systems,viz.,I,I-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),2,2'-azino-bis-3 ethylbenzothiozoline-6-sulfonic acid diammonium salt(ABTS),H_20_2/H0 radical scavenging,Fe^(2+)ion chelating ability,and reducing ***-Ciocalteu method was used to determine the total phenolic content of the extracts,and the results were expressed as mg of gallic acid equivalents(GE)/g of the seaweed *** acid-reactive substances assay was employed to assess the ability of the seaweed extracts to inhibit lipid ***:Ethyl acetate(EtOAc)fraction of *** registered significantly higher phenolic content(105.97 mg GE/g)than that of ***(69.63 mg GE/g).Significantly higher antioxidant potential as determined by DPPH(64.14%)radical scavenging activity was registered in EtOAc fraction of ***.A higher ABTS(?)radical scavenging(IC_(50)3.16μg/mL),Fe^(2+)chelating(IC_(50)0.46 mg/mL),H_2O_2 scavenging(IC_(50)4.25 mg/mL),lipid peroxidation inhibitory(TBARS,IC_(50)0.21 mg/mL),and reducing abilities(IC_(50)52.67 mg/mL)(P<0.05)were realized in EtOAc fraction of *** than other ***:This study indicated the potential use of *** and *** as candidate species to be used as food supplements/functional foods to increase shelf-life of food items for human consumption,and nutraceuticals to deter deleterious free radical-induced life-threatening diseases.

The Internet of Things(IoT)is a heterogeneous information sharing and access platform that provides services in a pervasive *** and computation offloading in the IoT helps to improve the response rate and the availability of *** offloading in a service-centric IoT environment mitigates the complexity in response delivery and request *** this paper,the state-based task offloading method(STOM)is introduced with a view to maximize the service response rate and reduce the response time of the varying request *** proposed method is designed using the Markov decision-making model to improve the rate of requests *** defining optimal states and filtering the actions based on the probability of response and request analysis,this method achieves less response *** on the defined states,request processing and resource allocations are performed to reduce the backlogs in handling multiple *** proposed method is verified for the response rate and time for the varying requests and processing servers through an experimental *** the experimental analysis,the proposed method is found to improve response rate and reduce backlogs,response time,and offloading factor by 11.5%,20.19%,20.31%,and 8.85%,respectively.
