Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles by using mangrove plant extract and their potential mosquito larvicidal property

Objective:To identify the larvicidal activities of silver nano particles synthesised with Rhizophora mucronata（***） leaf extract against the larvae of Aedes aegypti（***） and Culex quinquefasciatus（***）.Methods:In vitro larvicidal activities such as LC50 and LC90 were assessed for the *** and *** larval ***, characterisation such as UV,XRD,FTIR and AFM analysis were carried out for the synthesised silver nano ***:The LC50 value of the synthesised silver nano particle was identified as 0.585 and 0.891 mgg/L for *** and *** larvae respectively. Further,the LG90 values are also identified as 2.615 and 6.291 mg/L for *** and Cx. quinquefasciatus species *** synthesised silver nanoparticles have maximum absorption at 420 nm with the average size of 60-95 *** XRD data showed 20 intense values with various degrees such as 37.10°,47.66°,63.97°and 70.01°.The FTIR data showed prominent peaks in（3 426.89,2 925.49,2 869.56,2 346.95,1 631.49,1 031.73,669.18 and 455.12） different ***:The biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles with leaf aqueous extract of R. mucronata provides potential source for the larvicidal activity against mosquito borne diseases.

AIM: To investigate the cellular defects by analyzing the (Th1/Th2) cytokine levels in vaccine responders and non-responders. METHODS: Peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) from responders and non-responders were stimulated with or with out recombinant HBsAg or PHA. Broad spectrum of cytokines viz (Th1) IFN-γ, IL-2, TNF-α, IL-12 and (Th2) IL-10, IL-4 were measured after in vitro stimulation with recombinant HBsAg and were compared with respective antibody titers. RESULTS: A significant decrease (P = 0.001) in Th1 and Th2 cytokines namely, IL-2, INF-γ, TNF-α and IL-10in non-responders was observed. The level of IL-4 was not significant between the three groups. Furthermore, despite a strong Th1 and Th2 cytokine response, the level of IL-12 was elevated in high-responders compared to other groups (P = 0.001) and demonstrated a positive correlation with anti-HBs titers and Th1 cytokine response. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that unrespon-siveness to recombinant hepatitis B vaccines (rHB) is multifactorial, including specific failure of antigen presentation or the lack of both T helper Th1 and Th2 response.

Objective:To investigate the potentiality of the marine actinobacteria isolated from marine soil against fish pathogenic ***:east coast region(ECR)of Tamilnadu,South *** they were used for the isolation of actinobacteria by using conventional serial dilution technique on starch casein agar *** antibacterial activities of the actinobacteria were screened primarily by using cross streak plate method against fish pathogenic bacteria namely Vibrio alginolyticus,Vibrio parahaemolyticus,Vibrio cholera,Aeromonas *** Pseudomonas *** antimicrobial efficacy of the selected isolates was carried out with various organic solvents,and finally the active compound was subjected to chromatographic techniques including TLC and ***:In the present study,a total of 33 soil samples were collected from the Bay of Bengal,against fish pathogenic *** of 21 antibacterial isolates,the isolate ECR77 was selected for further study based on its potential activity against fish pathogenic *** the various solvents tested,the ethyl acetate extract had good antibacterial activity against the tested bacterial *** isolate ECR77 grew well on oat meal agar medium with 2%salt level at 35°***-MS study found that the presence of bioactive compounds namely tetradecanoic acid,n-hexadecanoic acid and octadecanoic *** morphological,physiological,biochemical and cultural characteristics of the potential isolate were supported the identity up to generic level asStreptomyces ***:The results obtained from this study concludes that the ECR soils of South India is a hot spot of novel bioactive compound producing marine actinobacteria with great pharmaceutical *** the 82 actinobacteria isolated,21(26%)isolates were possessed antibacterial activity.

The importance of reducing ship resistance is growing considerably as a result of the increase in atmospheric emissions and the drive towards green shipping through *** this point,Energy Saving Devices(ESD),in particular,Hull Vane®(HV),have been widely applied as a potential technique for reducing wave-making resistance for vessels with higher Froude Number(Fr).The advantages of HV for a medium-speed vessel,where the wave-making component accounts for almost 50%of total resistance,have yet to be *** study presents the computational analysis of the KCS model(1∶75.5);for a particular trim condition by using the VOF method and RANS *** hull acts as a candidate vessel for the class of medium-speed characteristics.A total of 36 numerical simulations were carried out to study the changes in resistance and motion characteristics of the vessel with and without *** validate the numerical setup,the experimental work of Hou et al(2020)on the DTMB hull was *** effectiveness of HV can be comprehended by the reduction percentage in total resistance,trim,sinkage,and transom wave height,in comparison to bare hull *** reduction in total resistance extends up to 6%for Fr=0.32 with configuration 2 with negative *** CFD results indicate that there is a reduction in trim up to 57%for the maximum speed with a corresponding Fr=0.34 with a positive angle of foil(AoF).The trim correction effect is increasing with the depth of submergence of *** sinkage,there occurs nearly a 31%reduction for Fr=0.34 with a positive *** exists a substantial reduction in the height of the transom wave with the inclusion of HV,the results of which are discussed in *** the presented results,retrofitting the Hull Vane®is effective in the selected speed range but pronouncing as the speed of the vessel increases.

Genetic Algorithm Based Speed Control of PMDC Motor Using Low Cost PIC 16F877A Microcontroller

This paper mainly aims at proposing an effective method of speed control of the low power motors like Permanent Magnet Direct Current (PMDC) motor used in the orthopedic surgeries using a natural optimization technique called genetic algorithm. Using this method, better values of Performance parameters like rise time, settling time, fall time, peak overshoot and steady state are achieved compared to the conventional PI controller. The SIMUINK MODEL of both the controller operation is obtained using MATLAB version R2013a. The simulated results reveal that the proposed control drive exhibits reduced peak overshoot, rise time, settling time and steady state error. An experimental setup is devised to validate the simulation results. The comparative analysis made depicts the superiority of the proposed algorithm with reference to its conventional counterpart.

Practical Implementation of Embedded Controlled Reduced Switch Z-Source Inverter-Fed Induction Motor Drive

A cost-effective component minimized embedded controlled Z-source inverter for induction motor drive is presented. The proposed topology combines the advantages of a traditional four-switch three-phase inverter with the advantages of the z impedance network (two inductors in series and two X connected capacitors). This new topology, besides the self-boost property, has low switch count and it can operate as a buck-boost inverter. As a result, the new embedded controlled reduced switch Z-source inverter system provides ride through capability during voltage sags, reduces line harmonics, improves power factor, reliability and extends output voltage range. Analysis, simulation and experiment result will be presented to demonstrate these new features.

Linear Accelerator Based External Beam Radiotherapy in Glomus Jugulare Tumour: A Retrospective Review from a Tertiary Cancer Hospital in Kenya

Objective: Tumours originating from jugular bulb, carotid bifurcation, Vagus nerve are collectively called Paragangliomas. They are slow growing, essentially benign tumours, but can be detrimental if untreated. There is limited evidence on the effectiveness of fractionated radiotherapy in the management ofs Glomus jugulare tumours. The aim of this study is to determine the efficacy of Linear accelerator based fractionated external beam radiotherapy on unilateral inoperable Glomus jugulare paragangliomas. Method: This is a retrospective analysis of all the 12 cases of inoperable, unilateral Glomus jugulare tumours treated during the period 2011-2016 at a tertiary cancer centre in Kenya. Minimum follow up duration was 3 years. Patient characteristics, disease staging, immediate complications and therapeutic efficacy were analysed from the case files. Results: The 12 patients diagnosed with inoperable Glomus jugulare tumours reported in this period were treated with external beam radiotherapy to a tumour dose of 54 Gy in 30 fractions over a period of 6 weeks using IMRT technique in 6 MV Linear accelerator. 2/3rd of the patients were females in 5th and 6th decade of life. Onset of first symptom to initiation of treatment was found to be 1.7 years. Headache, earache, and tinnitus were the main complaints. No major side effects were recorded during therapy. Mean length of the tumour in its maximum dimension at the time of diagnosis was 4.5 cm. At the end of one-year post therapy, a mean reduction of 6.5 mm in the tumour length was observed, (Range: 0 - 15 mm). Tumour size remained static for a year and thereafter a slow growth pattern of 1mm per year was observed. Conclusion: Fractionated external beam radiotherapy is an effective and non-invasive treatment for advanced, inoperable Glomus jugulare paragangliomas. Objective:To elucidate the key parameters associated with hydrogen peroxide induced oxidative stress and investigates the mechanism of trigonelline(TG)for reducing the H_2O_2induced toxicity in H9c2 ***:Cytotoxicity and antioxidant activity of TG was assessed by EZ-CYTOX *** extraction and cDNA synthesized according to the kit manufacture *** was measured by the Flowcytometry,general PCR and ***:It was found that the TG significantly rescued the morphology of the H9c2 *** of cells with TG attenuated H_2O_2 induced cell deaths and improved the antioxidant *** addition,TG regulated the apoptotic gene caspase-3,caspase-9 and anti-apoptotic gene ***-XL during H_2O_2 induced oxidative stress in H9c2 *** results were comparable with quercetin *** evident,flow cytometer results also confirmed the TG significantly reduced the H_2O_2 induced necrosis and apoptosis in H9c2 ***,further increment of TG concentration against H_2O_2 could induce the necrosis and apoptosis along with H_2O_***:It is suggested that less than 125μM of TG could protect the cells from H_2O_2 induced cell damage by down regulating the caspases and up regulating the Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL ***,we suggest the trigonelline could be useful for treatment of oxidative stress mediated cardiovascular diseases in future.
