A phylogenetic approach identifies patterns of beta diversity and floristic subregions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Patterns of taxonomic and phylogenetic beta diversity and their relationships with environmental correlates can help reveal the origin and evolutionary history of regional *** Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)harbors an exceptionally diverse flora,however,a phylogenetic perspective has rarely been used to investigate its beta diversity and floristic *** this study,we used a phylogenetic approach to identify patterns of beta diversity and quantitatively delimit floristic regions on the Qinghai-Tibet *** also examined the relationships between multifaceted beta diversity,geographical distance,and climatic difference,and evaluated the relative importance of various factors(i.e.,climate,topography and history)in shaping patterns of beta diversity.Sørensen dissimilarity indices indicated that patterns of species turnover among sites dominated the *** also found that patterns of both taxonomic and phylogenetic beta diversity were significantly related to geographical distance and climatic *** environmental factors that contributed most to these patterns of beta diversity include annual precipitation,mean annual temperature,climatic gradients and climatic *** dendrograms of dissimilarity and non-metric multidimensional scaling ordination based on phylogenetic beta diversity data identified ten floristic subregions in the *** results suggest that the contemporary environment and historical climate changes have filtered species composition among sites and eventually determined beta diversity patterns of plants in the QTP.

Projected changes in mean and interannual variability of surface water over continental china

Five General circulation model(Gcm) climate projections under the RcP8.5 emission scenario were used to drive the Variable Infiltration capacity(vic) hydrologic model to investigate the impacts of climate change on hydrologic cycle over continental china in the 21 st century. The bias-corrected climatic variables were generated for the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on climate change(IPcc AR5) by the Inter-Sectoral Impact model Intercomparison Project(ISImIP). Results showed much larger fractional changes of annual mean Evapotranspiration(ET) per unit warming than the corresponding fractional changes of Precipitation(P) per unit warming across the country, especially for South china, which led to a notable decrease of surface water variability(P-E). Specifically, negative trends for annual mean runoff up to -0.33%/ year and soil moisture trends varying between -0.02% to -0.13%/year were found for most river basins across china. coincidentally, interannual variability for both runoff and soil moisture exhibited significant positive trends for almost all river basins across china, implying an increase in extremes relative to the mean conditions. Noticeably, the largest positive trends for runoff variability and soil moisture variability, which were up to 0.41%/year and 0.90%/year, both occurred in Southwest china. In addition to the regional contrast, intra-seasonal variation was also large for the runoff mean and runoff variability changes, but small for the soil moisture mean and variability changes. Our results suggest that future climate change could further exacerbate existing water-related risks(e.g., floods and droughts) across china as indicated by the marked decrease of surface water amounts combined with a steady increase of interannual variability throughout the 21 st century. Tcm-HIN2Vec:A strategy for uncovering biological basis of heart qi deficiency pattern based on network embedding and transcriptomic experiment

Objective To elucidate the biological basis of the heart qi deficiency(HQD)pattern,an in-depth understanding of which is essential for improving clinical herbal *** We predicted and characterized HQD pattern genes using the new strategy,Tcm-HIN2Vec,which involves heterogeneous network embedding and transcriptomic ***,a heterogeneous network of traditional chinese medicine(Tcm)patterns was constructed using public ***,we predicted HQD pattern genes using a heterogeneous network-embedding *** then analyzed the functional characteristics of HQD pattern genes using gene enrichment analysis and examined gene expression levels using ***,we identified Tcm herbs that demonstrated enriched interactions with HQD pattern genes via herbal enrichment *** Our Tcm-HIN2Vec strategy revealed that candidate genes associated with HQD pattern were significantly enriched in energy metabolism,signal transduction pathways,and immune ***,we found that these candidate genes were significantly differentially expressed in the transcriptional profile of mice model with heart failure with a qi deficiency ***,herbal enrichment analysis identified Tcm herbs that demonstrated enriched interactions with the top 10 candidate genes and could potentially serve as drug candidates for treating *** Our results suggested that Tcm-HIN2Vec is capable of not only accurately identifying HQD pattern genes,but also deciphering the basis of HQD *** our finding indicated that Tcm-HIN2Vec may be further expanded to develop other patterns,leading to a new approach aimed at elucidating general Tcm patterns and developing precision medicine.
