Decadal (2003–2013) changes in liana diversity,abundance and aboveground biomass in four inland tropical dry evergreen forest sites of peninsular India

In 2013, we re-inventoried all lianas （≥1 cm diameter measured at 1.3 m from the rooting point） in four I-ha permanent plots distributed one each in four sites of inland tropical dry evergreen forest on the Coromandel Coast （Pudukottai district） of peninsular India, established in 2003. Among the four sites, Shanmuganathapuram （SP） and Araiyapatti （AP） were much disturbed and the other two sites （Karisakkadu--KR and Maramadakki--MM） were moderately disturbed. We inventoried a total of 3425 lianas representing 37 species of 33 genera and 22 families. Over a decade （2003-2013） liana species richness increased at two sites （MM and SP） and no changes occurred at the other two sites. Liana abundance increased by 210, 211,164 and 162 individuals at sites AP, KR, MM and SP, respectively, and basal area increased （from 1.09 to 1.76 m2 at AP, 0.67 to 0.86 m2 at KR, 1.68 to 2.06 mz at MM, and from 0.44 to 1.06 m2 at SP）. Over a 10-year period, three species （Abrus precatorius, Canavalia virosa, and Cocculus hirsutus） were lost and five species （Gloriosa superba, Ampelocissus tomentosa, Capparis sepiaria, Aganosma cymosa and Tiliacora acuminata） were newly added. Total aboveground biomass increased by 18.5, 0.74, 3.6 and 9.5 Mg ha-1, respectively, at sites AP, KR, MM and SP.

A novel Acetazolamide condensed 1,4-dihydropyridines was set up by treating of N-(5-acetamido-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-ylsulfonyl)-3-oxobutanamide with an aryl aldehyde and 25-30%alkali with sight amount of barium nitrate as a *** of the synthetic structure of the titled compounds(4-16)was substantiated by thin-layer chromatography(TLC),IR,^(1)H NMR,^(13)C NMR,Mass spectra(MS)and elemental analysis(C,H,and N)were *** titled compounds were assessed for anticholinesterase activity against acetylcholinesterase and butyl cholinesterase *** titled compound produced weak,moderate,or high anticholinesterase ***,compound 8 demonstrated the best anticholinesterase activity of all the 1,4-dihydropyridines,with an IC_(50) estimation of 0.08μM and 2.9μM.

Objective:To investigate the bioactive-constituents of Shemamruthaa(SM),a herbal combination and its therapeutic effects on the mitochondrial functions with reference to lipid peroxidation(LPO),antioxidant status,citric acid cycle enzymes and electron transport chain enzymes in mammary tissues of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)-anthracene(DMBA)induced mammary carcinoma in rat ***:Adult Female Sprague-Dawley rats were used for the study and were divided into four ***Ⅰserved as control and CroupⅡrats were induced mammary carcinoma by administration of DMBA(25 mg/kg b.w.)*** normal and cancer-induced rats(GroupⅢ)were treated with SM(400 mg/kg b.w./day)orally by gastric incubation for ***Ⅳrats served as SM-treated control ***:Cancer-induced rats showed a considerably increased level of LPO with concomitant decreased levels of antioxidants,citric acid cycle enzymes,electron transport chain enzymes and cytochrome contents in the mammary *** with SM brought back the aforementioned biochemical parameters to near ***:From the results,it can be inferred that Shemamruthaa possesses significant anticancer effect through its role in attenuation of LPO,prevention of membrane damage and restoring membrane integrity.

In this study,we aimed to synthesise and evaluate the antimicrobial activity of sulphanilamide-condensed pyrimidine *** compounds were synthesised using a one-pot,three-component *** structures of the synthesised compounds were confirmed using spectroscopic techniques such as FT-IR,1H NMR,mass spectrometry,and elemental *** antibacterial activity of all the synthesised compounds was tested against Escherichia coli(***)and Bacillus subtilis(***),two types of Gram-positive *** thiamine-pyrophosphate riboswitch *** and the purine riboswitch *** were chosen as targets to determine how compounds bind to *** molecular docking data showed that compound 6f bound well and had the lowest binding energy in the active site areas of both *** was in line with the tests done in *** majority of the compounds have been demonstrated to be antibacterial.

Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are the important precursors of the tropospheric ozone(O3)and secondary organic aerosols(SOA),both of which are known to harm human health and disrupt the earth’s climate *** this study,VOC emission factors,O3 and SOA formation potentials were estimated for two types of industrial boilers:coal-fired boilers(n=3)and oil-fired boilers(n=3).Results showed that EVOCs concentrations were more than nine times higher for oil-fire d boilers compared to those for coal-fired *** factors ofΣVOCs were found to be higher for oil-fired boilers(9.26-32.83 mg-VOC/kg)than for coal-fired boilers(1.57-4.13 mg-VOC/kg).Alkanes and aromatics were obtained as the most abundant groups in coal-fired boilers,while oxygenated organics and aromatics were the most contributing groups in oil-fired ***,n-hexane and o-ethyl toluene were the abundant VOC species in coal-fired boiler emissions,whereas toluene was the most abundant VOC species emitted from oil-fired boilers.O3 and SOA formation potentials were found 12 and 18 times,respectively,higher for oil-fired than for coal-fired *** OFP ranged from 3.99 to 11.39 mg-O3/kg for coal-fired *** oil-fired boilers,total OFP ranged from 36.16 to 131.93 mg-O3/***,total secondary organic aerosol potential(SOAP)ranged from 65.4 to 122.5 mg-SOA/kg and 779.9 to 2252.5 mg-SOA/kg for the coal-fired and oil-fired boilers,respectively.

Effect of ethanol extracts of green tea(Camellia sinensis L.)and amla(Phyllanthus emblica Linn)were investigated on quality and melanosis of chilled stored Indian white prawn(Fenneropenaeus indicus)during 28 *** were subjected to antioxidant assays viz.1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl radical reducing power methods(DPPH),total antioxidant capacity(TAC),total phenolic content(TPC)and ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP)to evaluate antioxidant potentiality and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)to identify organic *** oxidase(PPO)inhibition was assessed to check the efficacy of the extracts as anti-melanogenic ***(total volatile nitrogen,free fatty acid and peroxide values),bacteriological(aerobic counts),melanosis inhibition and sensory quality of chilled stored shrimp were addressed to investigate the efficacy of extracts as preservative and anti-melanogenic *** reducing power of green tea-and amla extracts were in a range of 28.72-65.67%and 17.38-66.95%,*** content level was almost same for green tea and amla extract(2.46±0.002 and 2.51±0.036 mg GAE/gram).Total antioxidant capacity of green tea(210.33±4.63 mg EqAsc/g)was slightly higher than that of amla extracts(145.56±1.98 mg EqAsc/g).FRAP value revealed that green tea(477.49±3.25 mgE Fe(II)/g)had more ferric reducing power than amla(324.39±5.85 mgE Fe(II)/g).FT-IR analysis revealed the presence of essential organic bioactive compounds,which play an important role in reducing lipid oxidation and quality loss,and both extracts possess an encouraging PPO inhibition *** by green tea-and amla extracts on chilled stored shrimp showed promising effects on biochemical and microbiological parameters followed by melanosis inhibition and enhanced sensory *** Indian white prawn with green tea-and amla extract revealed significantly(P<0.05)lower value of biochemical indices and microbial load during chilled storage
