BACKGROUND Nutrition recommendations in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(t2DM)are to consume rye or integral bread instead of white bread.A positive effect on glucoregulation has been achieved by enriching food with various biologically active substances of herbal origin,so we formulated an herbal mixture that can be used as a supplement for a special type of bread(StB)to achieve better effects on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in patients with *** to compare organoleptic characteristics and effects of two types of bread on postprandial glucose and insulin levels in t2DM *** this trial included 97 patients with t2DM.A parallel group of 16 healthy subjects was also *** participants were given 50 g of rye bread and the same amount of a StB with an herbal mixture on 2 consecutive *** blood glucose and insulin levels were compared at the 30^(th),60^(th),90^(th) and 120th min.A questionnaire was used for subjective estimation of the organoleptic and satiety features of the two types of *** Compared to patients who consumed rye bread,significantly lower postprandial blood glucose and insulin concentrations were found in t2DM patients who consumed *** relevant differences were found among the healthy *** estimated organoleptic and satiety characteristics are better for StB than for rye *** StB have better effects than rye bread on postprandial glucoregulation in t2DM *** estimated organoleptic and satiety characteristics are better for StB than for rye ***,StB can be recommended for nutrition in t2DM patients.

Multilayer aluminum composites prepared by rolling of pure and anodized aluminum foils

Bioleaching of low-grade complex Cu–Zn–Pb–Fe–Ag–Au sulphide concentrate (of Majdanpek ore body, RtB Bor, Serbia) was carried out in an aerated bioleach reactor in the presence of mesophilic mixed bacterial culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans, and Leptospirillum ferrooxidans. A mesophilic acidophiles culture was isolated from the acidic solution of the underground copper mine of Bor, Serbia. the nutrient medium was 9K at pH 1.6. 87% of the particles were th a pulp density of 8% (w/v). Bioleaching efficiencies of 89% for zinc, 83% for copper, and 68% for iron can be achieved in the examined conditions. Kinetic analysis shows that the change in leaching corresponds to the Spencer-topley kinetic model for diffusion-controlled topochemical reactions.

Detection of gelatinase B activity in serum of gastric cancer patients

AIM： to determine the proteolytic activity and expression of gelatinase B in serum of gastric cancer patients and their correlation with the stage of the tumor. MEtHODS： Sera from 23 patients who underwent surgery for primary gastric cancer as the experimental group and from 11 as the control group were used to determine the proteolytic activity and its inhibition by EDtA and 1,10-phenanthroline. Gelatinase B activity was detected by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis （SDS-PAGE） and SDS-PAGE zymography. RESULtS： Proteolytic enzyme activity was increased in gastric cancer patients when compared to the control group （,0〈0.05）. the proteinases were determined to be metalloproteinases upon inhibition test with specific metalloproteinase inhibitors 1,10-phenanthroline （P〈0.05） and EDtA （P〈0.01）. SDS-PAGE and SDS-PAGE zymography revealed gelatinase B （proMMP-9） activity and its molecular mass of 92 ku. CONCLUSION： Proteinase activity is overexpressed in serum of gastric cancer patients. We present Parameter Quantification Network(PQ-Net),a regression deep convolutional neural network providing quantitative analysis of powder X-ray diffraction patterns from multi-phase *** network is tested against simulated and experimental datasets of increasing complexity with the last one being an X-ray diffraction computed tomography dataset of a multi-phase Ni-Pd/CeO_(2)-ZrO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) catalytic material system consisting of ca.20,000 diffraction *** is shown that the network predicts accurate scale factor,lattice parameter and crystallite size maps for all phases,which are comparable to those obtained through full profile analysis using the Rietveld method,also providing a reliable uncertainty measure on the *** main advantage of PQNet is its ability to yield these results orders of magnitude faster showing its potential as a tool for real-time diffraction data analysis during in situ/operando experiments.

GStM1-null and GStt1-active genotypes as risk determinants of primary open angle glaucoma among smokers

AIM： to evaluate glutathione transferase theta 1 and mu 1（GStt1 and GStM1） polymorphisms as determinants of primary open angle glaucoma（POAG） risk, independently or in combination with cigarette smoking, hypertension and diabetes ***： A case-control study with 102 POAG patients and 202 age and gender-matched controls was carried out. Multiplex-polymerase chain reaction method was used for the analysis of GStM1 and GStt1 polymorphisms. the differences between two groups were tested by the t-test or χ~2 test. Logistic regression analysis was used for assessing the risk for disease ***： the presence of GStM1-null genotype did not contribute independently towards the risk of POAG. However, individuals with GStt1-active genotype were at almost two-fold increased risk to develop glaucoma（P=0.044） which increased up to 4.36 when combined with GStM1-null carriers（P=0.024）. When glutathione transferase（GSt） genotypes were analyzed in association with cigarette smoking, hypertension and diabetes, only carriers of GStt1-active genotype had significantly increased risk of POAG development in comparison with GStt1-null genotype individuals with no history of smoking, hypertension and diabetes, respectively （OR=3.52, P=0.003; OR=10.02, P〈0.001; OR=4.53, P=0.002）. CONCLUSION： the results obtained indicate that both GStM1-null and GStt1-active genotypes are associated with increased POAG risk among smokers, suggesting potential gene-environment interaction in glaucoma development.

Seminomas are most commonly diagnosed in clinical stage I(CSI).After orchiectomy,approximately 15%of patients in this stage have subclinical *** radiotherapy(ARt)delivered to the retroperitoneum and ipsilateral pelvic lymph nodes has been the mainstay of treatment for many *** highly efﬁcient,with long-term cancer-speciﬁc survival(CSS)rates approaching almost 100%,ARt is associated with considerable long-term consequences,particularly cardiovascular toxicity and increased risk of secondary malignancies(SMN).therefore,active surveillance(AS)and adjuvant chemotherapy(ACt)were developed as alternative treatment *** AS prevents patient overtreatment,it is associated with strict follow-up regimens and increased radiation exposure due to repeated *** to equivalent CSS rates to ARt,and lower toxicity,one course of adjuvant carboplatin presents the cornerstone of chemotherapy for CSI *** is almost 100%for patients with CSI seminoma,regardless of the chosen treatment ***,a personalized approach in treatment selection is ***,routine radiotherapy for CSI seminoma patients is no longer ***,it should be reserved for patients who are unﬁt or unwilling for AS or ***ﬁcation of prognostic factors for disease relapse allowed for the development of risk-adapted treatment strategy and stratiﬁcation of patients in low-risk and high-risk *** risk-adapted policy needs further validation,surveillance is currently recommended in low-risk patients,while ACt is reserved for patients with a higher risk of relapse.
