Plant triterpenoid saponins function as susceptibility factors to promote the pathogenicity of Botrytis cinerea

Laboratory filtration experiments are employed to investigate effective well killing while minimizing its impacts on surrounding *** novelty of this experimental study lies in the prolonged exposure of rock samples to the killing fluid for seven days,corresponding to the average duration of well workovers in the oilfields in Perm Krai,*** findings indicate that critical factors influencing the interactions between rocks and the killing fluid include the chemical composition of the killing fluid,the mineralogical composition of the carbonate rocks,reservoir pressure and temperature,and the contact *** analyses using multi-scale X-ray computed tomography,field emission scanning electron microscopy,and X-ray diffraction were conducted on samples both before and after the well killing *** experiments were performed using real samples of cores,crude oil,and the killing *** results from this study indicate that low-mineralized water(practically fresh water)is a carbonate rock *** water causes the dissolution of rock components,the formation of new calcite crystals and amoeba-like secretions,and the migration of small particles(clay,quartz,and carbonates).The formation of deep channels was also *** assessment reveals that the change in the pH of the killing fluid indicates that the observed mineral reactions were caused by carbonate *** combined phenomena led to a decrease in the total number of voids in the core samples,which was 25%on average,predominantly among voids measuring between 45 and 70μm in *** change in the pore distribution in the bulk of the samples resulted in decreases in porosity of 1.8%and permeability of 67.0%in the studied core *** results from this study indicate the unsuitability of low-mineralized water as a well killing fluid in carbonate *** composition of the killing fluid should be optimized,for example,in terms of the ionic composition of water,

Polio eradication surveillance in Sri Lanka,2019-2023

Objective:To evaluate the polio laboratory surveillance carried out from January,2019 to May,2023 by the Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri ***:This retrospective study analyzed all stool samples received under the acute flaccid paralysis(AFP)and immunodeficient vaccine-derived poliovirus(VDPV)surveillance at Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka from January,2019 to May,*** results of the testing methodologies were extracted from the laboratory data system,i.e.,poliovirus virus isolation,intra-typic differentiation/VDPV real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(iTD/VDPV rRTPCR)and sequencing,along with the data on timing of reporting results,stool adequacy and *** was analyzed using descriptive ***:A total of 2141 stool samples from 1644 cases were received for AFP surveillance from Sri Lanka(93.61%),Maldives(1.52%),and immunodeficient VDPV(4.86%)*** polioviruses(19/1644,1.15%)and non-polio enteroviruses(73/1644,4.44%)were isolated,while Sabin-like 3 virus was detected in majority(12/19,63.15%)among the poliovirus *** polioviruses or circulating VDPVs were not detected among the *** all years of the study,the non-polio AFP detection rate was>1/100000 in children aged less than 15 years,whereas stool adequacy rate was>80%.All results were reported within 14 days of receipt,ensuring timely reporting as per global ***:The Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka plays a vital role in maintaining the polio-free status in the country through its robust laboratory surveillance,while adhering to the surveillance ***-detection of wild polioviruses and circulating VDPV during the study period reinforces the polio-free status in the country.

Effects of crop residues for animal consumption and soil enhancement on the electricity generation potential of residues:A case study of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district,Ghana

Many studies have estimated the potential of crop residues for energy generation globally and recognized its great potential,especially in rural areas where on-grid electricity is ***,crop residues have other equally important uses as animal feed and as mulch for soil enhancement,especially in rural farming ***,most of the known studies have neglected the estimation of the quantity of crop residues that will be required for feeding animals and also for the enhancement of soil through mulching in their energy potential estimation from crop *** these two important uses can lead to the over-exploitation of the residues for energy generation at the expense of conservation agriculture practices as well as depriving animals of quality feed which can lead to low crop yield and animal production,with the ability to cause hunger and *** study has assessed the potential of electricity generation from agricultural residues in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district of Ghana using gasification technology,taking cognizance of the proportion of residues needed for animal consumption and soil *** results of the study indicate that out of the 207646.22 t of residues that can be generated from maize,yam,cassava,millet,sorghum,and groundnut,26830.36 t(representing 13%)will be required by sheep,goats,and cows for consumption,and 13936.17 t(representing 7%)will be required for mulching soils where the crops are ***,it was found that a total of 592.17 MW∙h of electricity can be generated from crop residues without animal consumption and soil enhancement needs,while 461.89 MW∙h could be generated from the residues,considering animal feed and soil *** study has indicated that it is not enough to consider soil enhancement and animal feeding in agricultural biomass power generation through recovery factors without the exact quantification of residues required for these purposes since this can lead to a vi

The objective of this study consisted of evaluating the effect of the application of chitosan(Q),1-methylcyclopropene(1-MCP)under two controlled temperatures on some physical,physiological,and chemical parameters contributing to the quality of Persian lime Citrus latifolia *** treatments were evaluated,resulting from the combination of four senescence retardant applications(Q,1-MCP,1-MCP+Q,and without application)on fruits stored at two temperatures(12/20℃.Epidermis color(luminosity,chromaticity,and hue),fruit appearance,respiration,weight loss,total juice content,total soluble solids,and titratable acidity were registered during the *** results indicate that the 1-MCP and Q combination favored fruit postharvest quality conditions such as reducing respiration rate;maintaining fruit good appearance,turgidity,and brighter fruit chromaticity;fruits treated with chitosan and stored at 12℃,favored total soluble *** the other hand,variables such as weight loss,juice content,acidity,phenols,flavonoids,antioxidant activity,and hue values were favored by a 12℃ storing temperature regardless of the *** general,the use of modified atmospheres,senescence retardants,and refrigeration as postharvest methods,can increase Persian lime shelf life.

To avoid soil degradation,adapt to climate change and comply with the Sustainable Development goals 2030(Un General Assembly),establishing the quality/fertility of the agricultural soils of the Mediterranean region and evaluate how these evolve with time is *** enables adequate management practices to be *** Mediterranean calcareous region has received little attention in this sense,in spite its soil ***,24 different representative calcareous agricultural soils of the Mediterranean region,including the main management strategies of agricultural soils(rainfed and irrigated),were sampled from the island of Mallorca;and their physical,chemical and biological properties *** values obtained for most of the soil characteristics allowed to establish an initial approach to the reference values for the type of calcareous agricultural soils considered,and to clearly distinguish the effect of rainfed or irrigation management practices on soils properties and *** enzyme activities were not stimulated by the irrigation conditions assayed or they were only in dry conditions,suggesting optimum enzyme activities could be obtained when alternating dry and humid soil *** organic carbon,calcium carbonate and active lime revealed of significant importance in the collection of ***,the results obtained clearly indicate the heterogeneity of the region and its implications on the different soil ***,this study could serve as a starting point to adequately establish the quality(fertility)for Mediterranean calcareous agricultural soils and their reference values by conducting further research in this region and including more type of soils.

Water-soluble copolymers of p-methacrylamidobenzoic acid(MABA)with neutral comonomers(n-vinylpyrrolidone(VP),n-methyl-n-vinylacetamide(MvaA),n-methacryloyl glucosamine(MAG))and anionic comononer sodium styrene sulfonate(naSS)were synthesized by radical *** interactions between the prepared copolymers and Tb^(3+)ions in aqueous solutions were studied;the significant influence of chemical structure of a comonomer on luminescence intensity of Tb^(3+)complexes with the copolymers was *** luminescence intensity of Tb^(3+)complexes with the copolymers containing n-vinylamide units(VP,MvaA)is three times more intense than that observed for the complexes between Tb^(3+)and MAG-containing *** the case of naSS-containing copolymers,the luminescence intensity is controlled by the values of binding constants between Tb^(3+)and MABA and the content of MABA units in a *** studied copolymers and their complexes with Tb^(3+)have low cytotoxicity and a pronounced antiviral activity against human respiratory syncytial virus.
