Oral drug absorption is a process influenced by the physicochemical and biopharmaceutical properties of the drug and its inter-relationship with the gastrointestinal tract. Drug solubility, dissolution and permeability across intestinal barrier are the key parameters controlling absorption. This review provides an overview of the factors that affect drug absorption and the classification of a drug on the basis of solubility and permeability. The biopharmaceutical classification system(bCS) was introduced in early90's and is a regulatory tool used to predict bioavailability problems associated with a new entity, thereby helping in the development of a drug product. Strategies to combat solubility and permeability issues are also discussed.

The visions of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 have reinforced the industrial *** have also made artificial intelligence incorporated as a major *** machine faults has become a solid foundation for automatically recognizing machine failure,and thus timely maintenance can ensure safe *** learning is a promising solution that can enhance the machine fault diagnosis model by borrowing pre-trained knowledge from the source model and applying it to the target model,which typically involves two *** response to the availability of multiple datasets,this paper proposes using selective and adaptive incremental transfer learning(SA-ITL),which fuses three algorithms,namely,the hybrid selective algorithm,the transferability enhancement algorithm,and the incremental transfer learning *** is a selective algorithm that enables selecting and ordering appropriate datasets for transfer learning and selecting useful knowledge to avoid negative *** algorithm also adaptively adjusts the portion of training data to balance the learning rate and training *** proposed algorithm is evaluated and analyzed using ten benchmark *** with other algorithms from existing works,SA-ITL improves the accuracy of all *** studies present the accuracy enhancements of the SA-ITL,including the hybrid selective algorithm(1.22%-3.82%),transferability enhancement algorithm(1.91%-4.15%),and incremental transfer learning algorithm(0.605%-2.68%).These also show the benefits of enhancing the target model with heterogeneous image datasets that widen the range of domain selection between source and target domains.

We report the result of simultaneous multi-wavelength observations of the TeV blazar Mrk 421 during February - March 2003. We observed Mrk 421 using the Pachmarhi Array of Cerenkov Telescopes （PACT） of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research at Pachmarhi, India. Other simultaneous data were taken from the literature and public data archives. We have analyzed the high quality X-ray （2-20 keV） observations from the NASA Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer （RXTE）. We obtained a possible correlated variability between X-ray and J band （1.25 μ） near infrared （NIR） wavelength. This is the first case of X-ray and NIR correlated variability in Mrk 421 or any high energy peaked （HbL） blazar. The correlated variability reported here indicates a similar origin for the NIR and X-ray emissions. The emission is not affected much by the environment of the surrounding medium of the central engine of Mrk 421. The observations are consistent with the shock-in-jet model for the emissions.

Efficacy of Shanvac-b recombinant DNA hepatitis b vaccine in health care workers of Northern India

bACKGROUND: Health care workers (HCWs) constitute a high-risk population of HbV infection. There are limited data on the efficacy of vaccination in HCWs in India. This study was to evaluate the efficacy of indigenous recombinant hepatitis b vaccine, Shanvac-b, in HCWs. METHODS: In 597 HCWs screened before the vaccination, 216 (36.2%) showed the presence of at least one of the markers of HbV/HCV infection. Of the remaining 381 (63.8%) HCWs who were considered for vaccination, only 153 (age 18-45 years; 48 males and 105 females) were available for final assessment. These HCWs received 20 μg of vaccine at 0, 1 and 6 months. They were asked for the reactogenicity and monitored for the seroprotective efficacy of the vaccination. Anti-Hbs titres were measured after vaccination at 1, 2 and 7 months. The presence of anti-Hbs titers equal to 1 MIU/ml was considered as seroconversion and that of titres greater than 10 MIU/ml as seroprotection. RESULTS: After vaccination, 32 males (67%) and 76 females (72%) showed seroconvertion; finally 12 (25%) of the males and 47 (45%) of the females were seroprotected. Seroprotection at 2 and 7 months was more dominant in the females than in the males (96% vs. 56%, P=0.001, 100% vs. 85%, P=0.0001), respectively. Geometric mean titres of anti-Hbs after vaccination were also higher in the females than in the males (257±19.7 vs. 29±1.88 MIU/ml, P=0.01, 1802±35.2 vs. 306±13.6 MIU/ml, P≤0.05, 6465±72 vs. 2142±73.6 MIU/ml, Pbserved in any ***: The presence of HbsAg in HCWs indicates that a high proportion of HCWs are infected with HbV and HCV in India. In the urban residential building stock, a major proportion is constituted by low-rise individual buildings. In addition to cost, quality and duration, energy consumed for the project needs to be accounted in the decision making process. Minimizing the cost of construction without compromising on the architectural and structural requirements is the primary objective of the residential buildings of stake-holders, especially the owners. The choice of structural system and the materials used for construction play a crucial role in this effort. This means that the use of expensive and/or voluminous materials such as cement, steel, masonry etc. is optimized. This could lead to significant reduction in embodied energy as well, if the choice of the structural system is prudently made. In this paper, an attempt has been made to quantify the cost and embodied energy benefits for a low-rise residential building by choosing two different structural systems, namely moment resisting framed (MRF) construction system and the partly load-bearing (PLb) system. The influence of choice of materials, contributing to reduction of cost and/or energy is discussed. It is clearly noticed that, when the structural system is re-configured as a PLb system from the existing MRF system there is significant reduction in cost and embodied energy without changing the architectural form.

It is well-known that a product or a system is sustainable if it is economically viable, socially acceptable and environmentally friendly. Load bearing masonry is one such example which is quite sustainable, especially if the masonry units are locally available. It is important to quantify the environmental benefits and cost, if an alternative to an existing technology is to be suggested. Of course the issues related to acceptance have to be discussed and addressed. This paper presents the quantification of embodied energy and cost of lime-pozzolana-cement (LPC) geopolymer based masonry units made using locally available bulk ingredients viz. tank-bed soil (TbS) and brick-powder (bP). The masonry adobe units developed have achieved the target performance in terms of strength, low water absorption and relative ease of production. Simultaneously the issues related to cost are also discussed in this paper. The studies have revealed that the bulk contributor to embodied energy and cost of geopolymer adobes are the alkaline materials viz sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate. However, the embodied energy and cost per unit strength appears to be better than that of conventional table moulded bricks in south India, especially when alkaline solution at 2M concentration is used with LPC.

The combination of kidney paired donation(KPD) with desensitization represents a promising method of increasing the rate of living donor kidney transplantation(LDKT) in immunologically challenging patients. Patients who are difficult to match and desensitize due to strong donor specific antibody are may be transplanted by a combination of desensitization and KPD protocol with more immunologically favorable donor. We present our experience of combination of desensitization protocol with three-way KPD which contributed to successful LDKT in highly sensitized end stage renal disease patient. All recipients were discharged with normal and stable allograft function at 24 mo follow up. We believe that this is first report from India where three-way KPD exchange was performed with the combination of KPD and desensitization. The combination of desensitization protocol with KPD improves access and outcomes of LDKT.

Objective:To evaluate the significance of Eustachian tube(ET)angles and ET pretympanic diameter on high resolution computed tomography(HRCT)Temporal bone in patients with chronic otitis media(COM).Methods:A retrospective study was carried out at Tertiary care *** A included 92 ears with COM(38 patients with bilateral COM and 16 with unilateral COM);and Group b included 108 normal ears(54 patients with bilateral normal ears).Reid plane-ET angle,Tubotympanic angle and the ET pretympanic diameter was evaluated by HRCT temporal bone,and compared in the two *** with chronic otitis media(Group A)were subdivided into Group A1(blocked ET)and Group A2(Patent ET).The parameters were evaluated and compared in the subgroups ***:The mean Reid plane-ET angle and Tubotympanic angle in Group A was 25.412.57 and 148.123.43 respectively;whereas in Group b it was 27.563.62 and 145.144.34 *** plane-ET angle was significantly less in patients with COM and Tubotympanic angle was significantly more obtuse in COM *** pretympanic diameter was(5.372.10)mm in Group A and(6.472.40)mm in Group *** was significantly less in patients with COM.A significant correlation was found between the ET patency and the two ET parameters(Reid plane-ET angle and pretympanic diameter).Conclusions:Eustachian tube angles in adults may play a significant role in the etiology of chronic otitis *** in Reid plane-ET angle and pretympanic diameter on HRCT temporal bone can be used to predict ET dysfunction and to plan the surgical management of chronic otitis media.
