Renewable energy with sources such as photovoltaic(PV)or fuel cells can be utilized for the generation of elec-trical *** these sources generate fewer voltage values and therefore require high gain converters to match with DC bus voltage in *** high gain converters can be implemented with switched capacitors to meet the required DC bus *** capacitors operate in a series and parallel combination during switch-ing operation and produce high static gain,limits reverse voltage that appears across the components.A novel converter is proposed that satisfies all the features such as high voltage gain,only one switch,forces less potential stress cross the components,ripple current is *** features of the proposed converter are verified through MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Background:In tropical dry forests,variation in understory light availability due to season and canopy tree density could be a governing factor in establishment and growth of tree *** with varying life history traits are expected to respond differentially to such *** investigated the response of seedlings of four tree species in a tropical day forest in relation to spatiotemporal variability of *** attempt to explore the role of leaf attributes in explaining intra-and inter-specific variations in relative growth *** study sites,each with three contrasting canopy conditions,were selected along a soil moisture *** of four tree species(viz.,Acacia catechu,Bridelia retusa,Lagerstroemia parviflora,and Shorea robusta),varying in life history traits,were monitored for seasonal variations in growth traits across canopy condition and sites for 2 ***:We observed a larger variation in leaf attributes for pioneer *** showed highest mean values for leaf dry matter content,leaf nitrogen concentration,leaf phosphorus concentration,net stomatal conductance,net photosynthetic rate,and relative growth rate in high light *** and *** demonstrated highest mean values for all the leaf attributes(except leaf dry matter content)in low light ***,intermediate values for leaf attributes were observed in *** which preferred moderate light ***:Seasonal variations in light availability at the forest floor appear to play an important role in the establishment and growth of tree seedlings in seasonal dry *** attributes can be used to explain intra-and inter-specific variation in response to light *** attributes in combinations can be used to predict relative growth rate of tree species in tropical dry environment,which apart from soil moisture is also determined by light availability due to seasonal changes and canopy tree density.

Functional structure and diversity of soil free-living nematodes in a desert environment depend on plant gender and sampling *** objective of this study was to compare the composition,abundance and tropic group of soil free-living nematodes in the upper 0–10 cm soil layer under the male and female Acanthosicyos horridus *** *** and in the inter-shrub open areas(control)in the Namib Desert,Namibia in April *** moisture,organic matter(OM)and pH was also ***-living nematodes were extracted from 100 g soil using the Baermann funnel procedure,and total number of nematodes was counted under a *** composition and diversity of soil free-living nematodes were analyzed using 18S rDNA *** indicated that a total of 67 groups,including 64 species,2 genera and 1 family were *** behavior of 58 species were identified as follows:15 bacteria-feeding species,12 fungi-feeding species,10 plant-parasite species,5 omnivorous-predator species,8 animal-parasite species,5 invertebrate-parasite species and 3 non-free-living nematodes,known as marine ***,soil free-living nematodes were found to be affected by sampling locations and plant gender,and community composition and density of these nematodes were strongly influenced by soil OM *** confirmed that spatial location and plant cover were main factors influencing the diversity of soil free-living ***,molecular tools were found to be very useful in defining the richness of soil non-free-living *** conclusion,the results elucidated the importance of biotic variables in determining the composition and abundance of soil free-living nematodes in the Namib Desert,Namibia.

Influence of Musa Sapientum L. on Pharmacokinetic of Metformin in Diabetic Gastroparesis

Objective： To investigate the effect of Musa sapientum L. （MS） bark juice in diabetic gastroparesis and its effect on pharrnacokinetic of metformin （MET）. Methods： Diabetes was induced in rats by administering alloxan （120 mg/kg） saline solution and maintained for 8 week. All the 18 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups （n=6 in each group）： normal control, diabetic control and MS bark juice. Assessment of diabetes was done by glucose oxidase-peroxidase method on the 3rd day of alloxan administration. The effects of MS bark juice （100 mL/kg） on gastric emptying time, intestinal transit time, contractility of fundus and pylorus as well as gastdc acid secretion in chronic diabetic rats were observed after 8 weeks of aUoxan administration. The effect of MS bark juice on the pharmacokinetic of orally administered single dose of MET （350 mg/kg） was evaluated on the 57th day of protocol. Any drugs that may reduce the blood glucose level or influence the fibrinolytic system were not used in this study. Results： The MS bark juice significantly reduced the blood glucose level in the diabetic rats （P〈0.01）. There was significant decrease in the pylorus motility and increase in the gastric emptying time, intestinal transit time, contractility of fundus, gastric acid secretion in the MS bark juice treated group （P〈0.01）. There was significant decrease in the time at which drug at a maximum concentration, haft life of drug and increase in the maximum concentration of drug in the plasma of MET in MS bark juice treated group as compared to diabetic control group （P〈0.01）. Conclusion： MS bark juice effectively manages diabetic gastroparesis and thereby improves the bioavailabilty of MET when administered with MS bark iuice.

Background Patients suffering from psychiatric disorders tend to stigmatise themselves which had been linked to poor adherence to *** The aim of the present study was to study internalised stigma and medication adherence and to assess the relationship between them in patients with obsessive compulsive disorder(0CD).Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on 112 patients diagnosed with 0CD who were attending the Out-patient's department at Department of Psychiatry of a tertiary care hospital in North *** stigma and current medication adherence were assessed with Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale(ISMI)and Medication Adherence Rating Scale,***-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale was used to assess the current severity of OCD *** and clinical details were also obtained from the patients by using a semistructured sociodemographic *** Most of the patients reported moderate level of internalised stigma with a mean ISMI score of 77.98(10.82).Most of the patients were compliant while 41.96%reported poor medication *** stigma was negatively correlated with the current medication *** severity of OCD symptoms also showed a significant positive correlation with internalised stigma and a significant negative correlation with medication *** High levels of internalised stigma were associated with lower adherence to treatment which suggests that internalised stigma may be a very important factor influencing medication adherence in patients with OCD.

Currently distillery effluents have attracted worldwide attention for their application in agricultural land. The present investigation deals with the effect of application of various dosages of distillery effluent irrigation on soil physicochemical, Cellulase and Urease activities in a tropical agricultural field. Experiment was designed in factorial model by using randomized block design. Soil cores were sampled from the selected pits of both polluted and non polluted (control) sites. Majority of soil physicochemical properties (e.g. silt, clay, electrical conductivity, organic matter, total nitrogen contents, cellulase and urease activities) were significantly higher in the samples from polluted site than the non polluted site just after 15 to 30 days of incubation. Although application of effluents at lower rate substantially increased the enzyme activities, the same decreased at high effluent concentration. Prolonged incubation period resulted in gradual suppression of enzyme activity in both polluted and nonpolluted soil samples. Thus, the present investigation suggest that with the passage of time substrate for enzyme activity decreases which in association with residual toxicity resulted in the reduced enzyme activity.

Filtration of sodium chloride from seawater using carbon hollow tube composed of carbon nanotubes

The present article deals with filtration of seawater to remove sodium chloride(NaCl)using filter made from organized structures of carbon nanotubes(CNTs).The filter consists of hollow carbon cylinder(length~10 cm,diameter~1 cm),which is composed of radially aligned *** carbon hollow cylinder has been synthesized by continuous spray pyrolysis of ferrocene–benzene solution in argon *** hollow cylinder has been turned into a water filter by closing one end and keeping a small funnel at the *** of seawater(Marina Beach,Chennai,India)has been obtained both under the self pressure of seawater column in the hollow cylinder and under the difference of pressure created by enclosing the filter in a vacuum tight *** has been found that the efficiency of filtration is about two times higher under partial vacuum(~10–2 torr)created on the filtrate(water)*** filtration of seawater,a deposit in the inner surface of hollow cylinder has been *** deposit has been characterized by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis,and it has been found that the deposit was *** filtration leads to almost complete removal of NaCl from the seawater.
