Deleterious effects of whole-body vibration on the spine:A review of in vivo,ex vivo,and in vitro models

Occupational exposure to whole-body vibration is associated with the develop-ment of musculoskeletal,neurological,and other *** back pain and other spine disorders are prevalent among those exposed to whole-body vibration in occupational and military *** standards for limiting exposure to whole-body vibration have been in place for decades,there is a lack of understanding of whole-body vibration-associated risks among safety and healthcare ***,disorders associated with whole-body vibration exposure remain prevalent in the workforce and *** relationship between whole-body vibra-tion and low back pain in humans has been established largely through cohort stud-ies,for which vibration inputs that lead to symptoms are rarely,if ever,*** gap in knowledge highlights the need for the development of relevant in vivo,ex vivo,and in vitro models to study such *** parameters of vibrational stimuli(eg,frequency and direction)play critical roles in such pathologies,but the specific cause-and-effect relationships between whole-body vibration and spinal pa-thologies remain mostly *** paper provides a summary of whole-body vibration parameters;reviews in vivo,ex vivo,and in vitro models for spinal patholo-gies resulting from whole-body vibration;and offers suggestions to address the gaps in translating injury biomechanics data to inform clinical practice.

Objective: To investigate the molecular epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance patterns of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) among healthcare workers and ***: MRSA isolates were recovered from nasal swabs collected at a tertiary care hospital of Nepal and confirmed on the basis of Gram staining, conventional biochemical tests, and PCR amplification of mec A gene. PCRs were also used for detection of the different resistance genes and staphylococcal cassette chromosome(SCC) mec *** susceptibility patterns of isolates were assessed by disc diffusion method and minimum inhibitory concentrations were determined by ***: A total of 29 MRSA were isolated from 536 nasal swabs(5.4%) of health care workers and patients at a tertiary care hospital in Nepal. All isolates were susceptible to amikacin, gentamicin, vancomycin(minimal inhibitory concentrations vel mupirocin resistance(minimal inhibitory concentrations > 1 024 mg/m L).Fourteen isolates were found harboring the mup A gene and one isolate was found carrying the novel mup B gene. High prevalence(68%) of SCCmec I type was found, followed by SCCmec v(13%) and SCCmec III(3%) among all the MRSA ***: We found the emergence of SCCmec type I with high-level mupirocin resistance among MRSA in Nepal. Data also suggest that MRSA SCCmec type v strain has spread from the community to the hospital.

Pulse profile stability of the Crab pulsar

We present an X-ray timing analysis of the Crab pulsar, PSR B0531＋21, using archival RXTE data. We have investigated the stability of the Crab pulse profile, in soft （2-20kev） and hard （30-100 kev） X-ray energies, over the last decade of RXTE operation. The analysis includes measurement of the separation between the two pulse peaks and the intensity and widths of the two peaks. We did not find any significant time dependency in the pulse shape. The two peaks have been stable in phase, intensity and width for the last ten years. The first pulse is relatively stronger at soft X-rays. The first pulse peak is narrower than the second peak in both soft and hard X-ray energies. Both the peaks show a slow rise and a steeper fall. The ratio of the pulsed photons in the two peaks is also constant in time.

Compared with the traditional heteroatom doping,employing heterostructure is a new modulating approach for carbon-based ***,a facile ball milling-assisted route is proposed to synthesize porous carbon materials composed of abundant graphene/hexagonal boron nitride(G/h-BN)*** Ni powder and nanoscale h-BN sheets are used as a catalytic substrate/hard template and“nucleation seed”for the formation of the heterostructure,***-prepared G/h-BN heterostructures exhibit enhanced electrocatalytic activity toward H_(2)O_(2) generation with 86%-95%selectivity at the range of 0.45-0.75 v versus reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)and a positive onset potential of 0.79 versus RHE(defined at a ring current density of 0.3 mA cm^(-2))in the alkaline *** a flow cell,G/h-BN heterostructured electrocatalyst has a H_(2)O_(2) production rate of up to 762 mmol g_(catalyst)^(-1) h^(-1) and Faradaic efficiency of over 75%during 12 h testing,superior to the reported carbon-based *** density functional theory simulation suggests that the B atoms at the interface of the G/h-BN heterostructure are the key active *** research provides a new route to activate carbon catalysts toward highly active and selective O_(2)-to-H_(2)O_(2) conversion.

Analysis of Reflectivity and Shielding Effectiveness of Absorbing Material–Conductor Laminate for Electromagnetic Compatibility

An absorbing material–conductor laminate is widely used for electromagnetic compatibility of electronic circuits at microwave frequencies. Such a laminate when properly designed will exhibit good results in terms of electromagnetic interference and compatibility. In this paper, microwave absorbing materials like 1) Ca-NiTi hexa ferrite composites (Ca (NiTi)x Fe12-2xO19) for x = 0.4, 2) M-Type Barium ferrites (BaFe12-2xAxCoxO19 for the tetravalent A ions, Ru4+ is chosen), 3) MnZn ferrite-Rubber composites with volume fraction vf = 0.4, 4) Carbonyl-Iron particle composites with volume fraction vf = 40% and conducting materials like copper, stainless steel are considered to form the interface in the laminate. Mathematical formulations are carried out for the estimation of reflectivity and shielding effectiveness of absorbing material–conductor laminate at microwave frequencies Analysis is also carried out for various thicknesses of the microwave absorbing material and conducting material in the laminate. The reflectivity and shielding effectiveness depends not only on the type of the selected material in the laminate, but also their thickness in the laminate and frequency of operation.

The Ohmically heated circular limiter tokamak ADITYA （R0 = 75 cm, a = 25 cm） has been upgraded to a tokamak named the ADITYA Upgrade （ADITYA-U） with an open divertor configuration with divertor plates. The main goal of ADITYA-U is to carry out dedicated experiments relevant for bigger fusion machines including ITER, such as the generation and control of runaway electrons, disruption prediction, and mitigation studies, along with an improvement in confinement with shaped plasma. The ADITYA tokamak was dismantled and the assembly of ADITYA-U was completed in March 2016. Integration of subsystems like data acquisition and remote operation along with plasma production and preliminary plasma characterization of ADITYA-U plasmas are presented in this paper.

Intensive outpatient comprehensive behavioral intervention for tics: A case series

Recent randomized clinical trials have established the efficacy of Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics(CBIT) in treating children and adults with Tourette syndrome and persistent tic disorders. However, the standard CBIT protocol uses a weekly outpatient treatment format(i.e., 8 sessions over 10 wk), which may be inconvenient or impractical for some patients, particularly patients, who are required to travel long distances in order to receive care. In contrast, an intensive outpatient program may increase accessibility to evidence-based behavioral treatments for Tourette syndrome and other persistent tic disorders by eliminating the necessity of repeated travel. This case series evaluated the use of an intensive outpatient program CBIT(IOP CBIT) for the treatment of 2 preadolescent males(ages 10 and 14 years) with Tourette syndrome. The IOP CBIT treatment protocol included several hours of daily treatment over a 4-d period. Both children evi-denced notable reductions in their tics and maintained treatment gains at follow-up. Moreover, both patients and their parents expressed treatment satisfaction with the IOP CBIT format. This case series addresses an important research gap in the behavioral treatment of tic disorders literature. The patients' treatment outcomes indicate that IOP CBIT is a promising treatment that warrants more systematic investigation.
