Porous metal–organic frameworks(MOFs) have been recently discovered to be efficient catalysts for energy applications and green technologies. Here, we report on a scalable catalytic platform using cu–based MOFs for electrocatalytic alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction. First, the solvothermal synthesis of cu–BTc MOFs(BTc = 1,3,5–benzenetricarboxylate) at 85 ℃ and a 1:60 ligand–to–solvent ratio allowed for minimizing the chemical consumption. Second, the obtained platform demonstrated enhanced electrochemical performance compared with commercially available cu–based MOFs, with a potential of –230 versus –232 ev, logarithm of the current density of –3.6 versus –4.2 cm2, and electrochemical surface area of 75 versus 25 cm2per cm2of geometric area, respectively. Morphological and Raman analyses also revealed that the high concentration of defects in the obtained submicron cu–BTc MOFs can contribute to their improved catalytic performance. Thus, our findings pave the way to the low–cost synthesis of energy–efficient MOF–based catalysts for hydrogen production.

A number of factors that affect selective flocculation of fines have been identified and the effect of some of parameters on process behavior has been explained with the help of a few case studies. Experiments with francolite montmorillonite and francolite palygorskite mixtures indicated that francolite recovery depends on pH and the type of dispersant. The results showed that removal of multivalent ionic species on clay mineral surfaces seems to enhance flocculation, and separation efficiency increases as ca 2+ ions are removed from the surface. When chalcopyrite and quartz are present together, it is however necessary to clean the flocs obtained to remove entrapped quartz.

The fusion welding of dissimilar heat treatable and non-heat treatable aluminium alloy faced many problems related to solidification. The difficulties can be overcome to achieve the combined beneficial properties of both aluminium alloys using friction stir welding(FSW). The microstructural features and tensile properties of friction stir welded(FSW) similar and dissimilar joints made of AA6061 and AA5086 aluminium alloys were investigated. The microstructures of various regions were observed and analyzed by means of optical and scanning electron microscopy. Microhardness was measured at various zones of the welded joints. The tensile properties of the joints were evaluated and correlated with the microstructural features and microhardness values. The dissimilar joint exhibits a maximum hardness of Hv 115 and a joint efficiency of 56%. This was attributed to the defect free stir zone formation and grain size strengthening.

Highly effective sorbents obtained by treating agrowaste products in cold plasma

Sorbents are widely used in purification of various liquids and gases, offering a universal means for wastewater and air cleaning. The most promising sorbents are those obtained from agrowaste products such as rice or buckwheat husk. Processing of husk in cold plasma modifies the composition, structure and surface properties of the raw material and raises its porosity, thus substantially improving the sorption properties of the final *** as a raw material for producing sorbents has the following advantageous properties: (1) appropriate chemical composition; (2) low cost; (3) high dispersity, due to which there is no need in any special treatment of the material prior to its exposing to plasma; (4) scaly structure and developed porous surface ensuring a high surface-to-volume ratio. The best properties are displayed by the sorbents obtained in cold plasma under reduced pressures of 53.2 Pa. The raw material traverses the region occupied by the plasma and, as it does so, it gets heated up to a temperature of 250 - 350 ℃. The whole process involves two stages: combustion of the raw material and modification of its properties under the action of the plasma. The combustion proceeds due to the oxygen contained in the starting material. During the combustion, the hydrogen contained in the starting material and some part of the carbon also burn out. The resultant scaly sorbent is accumulated in a cooler. The scales are black; they range in sizes from 1mm to 5 mm. The sorbents obtained are remarkable for their useful properties and outperform most of the traditional sorbents used in modern industry. The starting materials are inexpensive, and their resources are almost unlimited. The sorbents have rather a low production cost (1.8-2.5 $/kg). Minimal residual disease (MRD) appears to have a strong negative predictive value for disease recurrence in children with anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALcL). Brentuximab vedotin (Bv) can be a therapeutic option for MRD-positive patients to achieve molecular remission and to decrease risk of subsequent relapse. We here report a 4-year-old child with ALcL progression during relapse treatment who received Bv as a bridging therapy before haploidentical hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation, and as a maintenance therapy post-transplant alone or combined with simultaneous low dose donor-lymphocyte infusions. MRD monitoring showed a complete molecular response and reflected both Bv efficiency and graft-versus-lymphoma effect.

For about a quarter of a century,monitoring lactate levels and/or lactate clearance has been an unquestionable cornerstone in sepsis *** elevated lactate level appeared to be an independent predictor of mortality,and the consequent metabolic acidosis was thought to explain a number of pathophysiological changes seen in septic *** physiological and clinical findings seem to challenge the adverse role of lactic acidosis in *** suggests that lactate levels are not necessarily directly proportional to either tissue or cellular hypoxia,and conversely,despite high lactate levels,increased peripheral tissue oxygen pressure can be measured in adult patients with septic *** to the most recent understanding of in vitro and in vivo evidence,the elevated lactate level in sepsis might be a normal reaction due to adrenergic stress with potential beneficial/protective physiological effects,as *** the one hand,burning lactic may help fuel the body during critical illness,but on the other hand,with a slight drop in pH,the body may counteract certain deleterious changes during the dysregulated host response;reduce the chances of reperfusion myocardial injury,and improve tissue oxygenation by shifting the haemoglobin dissociation curve to the *** the pathophysiological process in sepsis resulting in elevated lactate levels may aid management in an emergency,medicine,and intensive care *** more in-depth physiological knowledge,physicians may inevitably surpass normalisation heuristics and deliver personalized rather than protocolised sepsis resuscitation.

We have proposed previously a method for constructing self-conjugate Hamiltonians Hh in the h-representation with a flat scalar product to describe the dynamics of Dirac particles in arbitrary gravitational fields. In this paper, we prove that, for block-diagonal metrics, the Hamiltonians Hh can be obtained, in particular, using “reduced” parts of Dirac Hamiltonians, i.e. expressions for Dirac Hamiltonians derived using tetrad vectors in the Schwinger gauge without or with a few summands with bispinor connectivities. Based on these results, we propose a modified method for constructing Hamiltonians in the h-representation with a significantly smaller amount of required calculations. Using this method, here we for the first time find self-conjugate Hamiltonians for a number of metrics, including the Kerr metric in the Boyer-Lindquist coordinates, the Eddington-Finkelstein, Finkelstein-Lemaitre, Kruskal, clifford torus metrics and for non-stationary metrics of open and spatially flat Friedmann models.

Our studies allowed us to establish that simulating coarctation of aorta in laboratory animals results in tone reduction of vessels carrying blood to the liver and from it and a subsequent development of their intima atrophy. In spite of that fact the number of vessels containing intimal musculature, muscularelastic sphincters and polypoid pulvini in the arterial bed flow increases and in the major outflowing veins, on the contrary, thinning of their muscular tori takes place. Appearance and functioning in the hepatic vessels of adaptive formations contributes to keeping up homeostasis at the microcirculatory level. With cardiac decompensation decreasing because of venous plethora, hypotonia and atrophy of the intima of the vessels responsible for the blood inflow to the liver and the outflow from it progress. Besides, the number of arteries and the rate of development of arteries with adaptive smooth muscle formations in the arteries, as well as in hepatic veins with muscular tori decreases dramatically. The reason of compensatory reaction failure is a long-term hypoxia leading to vessel and their adaptive formation sclerosis. The consequence of the exhaustion of the above-mentioned mechanisms is development of perisinusoidal fibrosis and depression of the transcapillary metabolism.
