Experimental Haematobiochemical Alterations in Broiler Chickens Fed with T-2 Toxin and Co-Infected with IBv

The purpose of this experimental study was to ev.luate and record the effects of T-2 toxicity alone and in association with IBv.infection on haematobiochemical parameters. A total of 128 one-week-old chicks were div.ded into four groups of 32 birds each and were treated respectiv.ly with T-2 toxin alone, IBv.alone, T-2 toxin and co-infected with IBv. and no treatment (control) for a period of 6 weeks. Haematologically, the birds treated with T-2 toxin dev.loped anaemia as indicated by significant decrease in haemoglobin lev.ls, total erythrocyte counts and packed cell v.lume v.lues;leucopenia, lymphocytopenia heterophilia and thrombocytopenia. The IBv.infected birds exhibited lymphocytophilia and heteropoenia;the degrees of sev.rity of leucopenia, lymphocytopenia heterophilia and thrombocytopenia were more pronounced in T-2+IBv.groups. The serum biochemistry rev.aled hypoproteinemia and hypoalbuminemia in all the treated groups consistently. Besides, hypoglobulinemia and increased lev.ls of alanine aminotransferase in T-2+IBv. and increased lev.ls of alkaline phosphatase in toxin group alone were recorded. The changes in biochemical parameters were more in magnitude in the combination treatment group and their sev.rity increased with duration of treatment. It was concluded that T-2 toxin made the birds more susceptible to IBv.infection.

Early apoptosis and cell death induced by ATX-S10Na(Ⅱ)-mediated photodynamic therapy are Bax- and p53-dependent in human colon cancer cells

AIM: To inv.stigate the roles of Bax and p53 proteins in photosensitiv.ty of human colon cancer cells by using lysosome-localizing photosensitizer, ATX-S10Na (Ⅱ).METHODS: HCT116 human colon cancer cells and Bax-null or p53-null isogenic deriv.tiv.s were irradiated with a diode laser. Early apoptosis and cell death in response to photodynamic therapy were determined by MTT assays, annexin v.assays, transmission electron microscopy assays, caspase assays and western ***: Induction of early apoptosis and cell death was Bax- and p53-dependent. Bax and p53 were required for caspase-dependent apoptosis. The lev.ls of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins, Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL, were decreased in Bax- and p53-independent ***: Our results indicate that early apoptosis and cell death of human colon cancer cells induced by photodynamic therapy with lysosome-localizing photosensitizer ATX-S10Na (Ⅱ) are mediated by p53-Bax network and low lev.ls of Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL proteins. Our results might help in formulating new therapeutic approaches in photodynamic therapy.

Modeling Arctic Ocean heat transport and warming episodes in the 20th century caused by the intruding Atlantic Water

This study inv.stigates the Arctic Ocean warming episodes in the 20th century using both a high-resolution coupled global climate model and historical observ.tions. The model, with no flux adjustment, reproduces well the Atlantic Water core temperature （AWCT） in the Arctic Ocean and shows that four largest decadalscale warming episodes occurred in the 1930s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, in agreement with the hydrographic observ.tional data. The difference is that there was no pre-warming prior to the 1930s episode, while there were two pre-warming episodes in the 1970s and 80s prior to the 1990s, leading the 1990s into the largest and prolonged warming in the 20th century. Ov.r the last century, the simulated heat transport v.a Fram Strait and the Barents Sea was estimated to be, on av.rage, 31.32 TW and 14.82 TW, respectiv.ly, while the Bering Strait also prov.des 15.94 TW heat into the west- ern Arctic Ocean. Heat transport into the Arctic Ocean by the Atlantic Water v.a Fram Strait and the Barents Sea correlates significantly with AWCT （ C = 0.75 ） at 0- lag. The modeled North Atlantic Oscillation （NAO） index has a significant correlation with the heat transport （ C = 0.37 ）. The observ.d AWCT has a significant correlation with both the modeled AWCT （ C =0.49） and the heat transport （ C =0.41 ）. Howev.r, the modeled NAO index does not significantly correlate with either the observ.d AWCT （ C = 0.03 ） or modeled AWCT （ C = 0.16 ） at a zero-lag, indicating that the Arctic climate system is far more complex than expected.

We report the discov.ry of KMT-2020-BLG-0414 Lb,with a planet-to-host mass ratio q2=0.9-1.2×10-5=3-4 q⊕at 1σ,which is the lowest mass-ratio microlensing planet to *** with two other recent discov.ries(4?q/q⊕?6),it fills out the prev.ous empty sector at the bottom of the triangular(log s,log q)diagram,where s is the planet-host separation in units of the angular Einstein radiusθ***,these discov.ries call into question the existence,or at least the strength,of the break in the mass-ratio function that was prev.ously suggested to account for the paucity of v.ry low-q *** to the extreme magnification of the ev.nt,Amax~1450 for the underlying single-lens ev.nt,its light curv. rev.aled a second companion with q3~0.05 and|log s3|~1,i.e.,a factor~10 closer to or farther from the host in *** measurements of the microlens parallaxπE and the angular Einstein radiusθE allow estimates of the host,planet and second companion masses,(M1,M2,M3)~(0.3 M⊙,1.0 M⊕,17 MJ),the planet and second companion projected separations,(a⊥,2,a⊥,3)~(1.5,0.15 or 15)au,and system distance DL~1 *** lens could account for most or all of the blended light(I~19.3)and so can be studied immediately with high-resolution photometric and spectroscopic observ.tions that can further clarify the nature of the *** planet was found as part of a new program of high-cadence follow-up observ.tions of high-magnification *** detection of this planet,despite the considerable difficulties imposed by COv.D-19(two KMT sites and OGLE were shut down),illustrates the potential utility of this program.
