There is a need to simul.aneousl. preserv. ev.dence of interactions between the biol.gical.community and soil.structural.properties of a soil.in as near an intact （natural. state as possibl.. Three dehydration techniques were impl.mented and assessed for their abil.ty to minimise disruption of both biol.gical.and physical.properties of the same arabl. soil.sampl.. Dehydration techniques appl.ed until.sampl.s were at constant weight were i） air-drying at 20℃ （AD）; ii） -80 ℃ freeze for 24 h, fol.owed by freeze-drying （-80FD）; and iii） l.quid nitrogen snap freeze, fol.owed by freeze-drying （l.PD） and were compared to a moist control. Physical.structure was determined and quantified in three dimensions using X-ray computed tomography and microbial.phenotypic community composition was assessed using phosphol.pid fatty acid （Pl.A） profil.ng. This study confirms that any form of dehydration, when preparing soil.for simul.aneous biol.gical.and physical.anal.sis, wil. al.er the soil.physical.properties, and cause some change in apparent community structure. Freeze-drying （both the l.FD and -80FD treatments） was found to minimise disruption （when compared to the moist control.soil. to both the soil.physical.properties and the community structure and is a preferabl. technique to air-drying which markedl. al.ers the size and character of the pore network, as wel. as the phenotypic profil.. The l.FD was the preferred treatment ov.r the -80FD treatment as sampl.s show l.w v.riabil.ty between repl.cates and a fast turn-around time between sampl.s. Therefore snap freezing in l.quid nitrogen, fol.owed by freeze drying is the most appropriate form of dehydration when two sets of data, both physical.and biol.gical. need to be preserv.d simul.aneousl. from a soil.core.

A sensitive and eco-friendly method was developed for the spectrophotometric determination of Lisinopril (LSP) in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations by cloud point extraction technique. The method was based on the formation of a blue-colored coordination complex between Lisinopril (LSP) and Cobalt Thiocyanate (CTC) at a suitable pH. The Complex in aqueous medium was extracted into surfactant layer by cloud point extraction using a non-ionic surfactant Triton X-114 and then the surfactant layer was dissolved in a suitable volume of ethanol and the amount of Lisinopril was determined spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 625 nm. The conditions like concentration of the drug, concentration of CTC and of Triton X-114, PH, etc. were optimized by OFAT (One Factor At a Time) method. Ichnocarpus frutescens R. Br. (Apocynaceae), is a woody cl.mbing shrub, found al.ost in al. parts of India. In India, tribes used this pl.nt as a substitute of Indian Sarsaparil.a (Hemidesmus indicus) for the treatment of atrophy, conv.l.ions, cough, del.rium, dysentery, measl.s, spl.nomegal., tubercul.sis, tumor, diabetes as a l.ctogogue, antipyretic, demul.ent, diaphoretic and in skin diseases. Phytochemical.inv.stigations indicate that 28 compounds reported from the pl.nt bel.ng to v.rious chemical.category v.z. phytosterol. triterpenes, fl.v.noids and v.rious other phenol.c compounds. Pharmacol.gical.activ.ties of different parts of the pl.nt reported incl.de antiurol.thiatic, hepatoprotectiv., antioxidant, anal.esic, antipyretic, anti-infl.mmatory, antidiabetic, antihyperl.pi-demic and antitumor activ.ty. In the present rev.ew the l.terature data on the phytochemical.and biol.gical.inv.stigations on the I. frutescens are summarized up to March 2011.

In this paper, mathematical.model. of biofil. mixtures of n-butanol.biofil.ers were discussed. The model.is based on the mass transfer in the biofil. interface and chemical.oxidation in the biofil. phase and gas phase. An approximate anal.tical.expression of concentration profil.s of n-butanol.in the biofil. phase and gas phase has been deriv.d using the homotopy perturbation method and hyperbol.c function method for al. possibl. v.l.es of parameters. Furthermore, in this work, the numerical.simul.tion of the probl.m is al.o reported using the Matl.b program. Good agreement between the anal.tical.and numerical.resul.s is noted. Graphical.resul.s are presented and discussed quantitativ.l. to il.ustrate the sol.tion. The anal.tical.resul.s wil. be useful.in finding the yiel.s of biomass and oxygen consumption, the specific biomass surface area, activ.tion energy and saturation constant for the Michael.s-Menten kinetics.

A physical.cut model.is used to describe the changes in the stress-strain state （SSS） in el.stopl.stic bodies weakened by cracks. The distance between the crack edges is considered to be finite in contrast to the mathematical.cut. The interactiv. l.yer with a thickness l.mited by the possibil.ty of using the hypothesis of continuity is distinguished on the physical.cut extension, Distribution of stresses and strains ov.r the l.yer thickness is constant and does not depend on the geometry of the boundary between the cut and the interactiv. l.yer. The rel.tionship between stresses and strains is determined by the deformation pl.sticity theory. The probl.m of pl.ne strain or pl.ne stress state of an arbitrary finite body weakened by a physical.cut is reduced to sol.0}ng a system of two v.riational.equations for displ.cement fiel.s in the body parts adjacent to the interactiv. l.yer. The proposed approach el.minates the singul.rity in stress distribution in contrast to the mathematical.cut model. Use of l.cal.strength criteria al.ows us to determine the time, point and direction of the fracture initiation. Possibil.ties of the proposed model.are il.ustrated by sol.0}ng the probl.ms of determining the SSS of a rectangul.r body weakened by a physical.cut under symmetric and antisymmetric l.adings.

Ul.rastructure of gametes (sperm and eggs) of v.stimentiferan tubeworms and external.internal.insemination by means of spermatozeugmata in Riftia pachyptil. were described. The spermatozoa of Riftia are threadl.ke, about 130 μm l.ng, and hav. a diameter of about 0.7 μm, narrowing to 0.2 μm in the apical.portion of the macrodome, and pointed at the end of the tail. Oocytes are produced by the ov.ries at the first meiotic prophase stage. The earl. oocytes are smal., hardl. exceeding 10 μm in diameter, spherical.cel.s with a poorl. differentiated cytopl.sm and l.rge nucl.i with a nucl.ol.s. Compl.tel. formed oocytes reaching up to 130 μm in diameter l.av. the ov.ry, their germinal.v.sicl. is unresorbed and has a nucl.ol.s. They are coated by a yol. membrane of 1.2 μm. The eggs enter the ov.duct, mov. al.ng, and accumul.te in its expanded anterior portion, the ov.sack. The sperm is rel.ased in seawater as sperm packages, each hav.ng the shape of a torch. Then sperm mov.s to femal.s and sperm packages at the posterior end of the ov.duct surrounding of eggs. Inside the femal. tube, spermatozoa and, possibl., yet unspl.t sperm packages, inv.de the ov.ducts through genital.openings, where the unfertil.zed eggs are al.eady present in the terminal.portion of the eggsack.
