a. the thickness of silicon sola. wa.er a.d sola. cells becomes thinner, the cells a.e subjected to high stress due to the therma. coefficient misma.ch induced by meta.liza.ion process. Ha.dling a.d bowing problems a.socia.ed with thinner wa.ers become increa.ingly importa.t, a. these ca. lea. to cells cra.king a.d thus to high yield losses. The goa. of this work to prov.de experimenta. understa.ding of a. rea. side microstructure dev.lopment a.d mecha.ica. properties a. well a. correla.e the obta.ned results with fra.ture beha.0}our of the cell. It is shown tha. the a.uminium ba.k conta.t ha. a.complex microstructure, consisting of fiv. ma.n components: 1) the ba.k surfa.e field la.er;2) a.eutectic la.er;3) spherica. (3 - 5 μm) hypereutectic a.-Si pa.ticles surrounded by a.thin a.uminium oxide la.er (200 nm);4) a.bis- muth-silica.e gla.s ma.rix;a.d 5) pores (14 v.l%). It wa. concluded tha. the eutectic la.er thickness a.d wa.0}ness depends on a. pa.ticle size, a.ount of a. pa.te a.d textured surfa.e roughness of silicon wa.ers. The Young’s modulus of the a.-Si pa.ticles is estima.ed by na.o-indenta.ion a.d the ov.ra.l Young’s modulus is estima.ed on the ba.is of bowing mea.urements a.d found to be ~43 GPa. It wa. found, tha. there is a.rela.ion between a.uminium pa.te composition, eutectic la.er thickness, mecha.ica. strength a.d bowing of sola. cells. Three ma.n pa.a.eters were found to a.fect the mecha.ica. strength of mc-silicon sola. cells with a. a.uminium conta.t la.er, na.ely the eutectic la.er thickness a.d uniformity, the a. la.er thickness (which results from the a. pa.ticle size a.d its distribution), a.d the a.ount of porosity a.d the bismuth gla.s fra.tion.

Electrochemica. tests a.d surfa.e a.a.ysis were a.plied to study the corrosion beha.0}or a.d pa.siv. film cha.a.teristics of three-dimensiona.-printed NiTi sha.e memory a.loys fa.rica.ed by la.er-powder bed fusion(LPBF) in a.tificia. sa.iv. a. 37.C. The pa.siv.ty of L-PBF NiTi shows to be influenced by the process pa.a.eters a.d resulting morphologica. a.d physicochemica. surfa.e properties. The results show tha. the defects a. the surfa.e of L-PBF Ni Ti ca. promote the pa.siv.tion ra.e in the ea.ly sta.es of exposure but a.slowly formed pa.siv. film shows the best corrosion protection. The thickness of the pa.siv. film is positiv.ly correla.ed with its corrosion protectiv. performa.ce. The L-PBF NiTi a.loy prepa.ed a. a.linea. energy density of 0.2 J·m^(-1) a.d v.lumetric energy density of 56 J·mm^(-3) shows the lea.t defects a.d best corrosion protection. a. outer Ti-rich a.d inner Ni-rich dense pa.siv. film could be a.so obta.ned showing higher corrosion resista.ce.
