In situ formation of bimetallic FeNi nanoparticles on sand through green technology:Application for tetracycline removal

In this study,FeNi nanoparticles were green synthesized using Punica granatum(pomegranate)peel extract,and these nanoparticles were also formed in situ over quartz sand(GS-FeNi)for removal of tetracycline(TC).Under the optimized operating conditions,(GS-FeNi concentration:1.5%w/v;concentration of TC:20 mg/L;interaction period:180 min),99±0.2%TC removal was achieved in the batch reactor The removaT capacity was 181±1 mg/g.A detailed characterization of the sorbent and the solution before and after the interaction revealed that the removal mechanism(s)involved both the sorption and degradation of *** reusability of reactant was assessed for four cycles of operation,and 77±4%of TC removal was obtained in the *** judge the environmental sustainability of the process,residual toxicity assay of the interacted TC solution was performed with indicator bacteria(Bacillus and Pseudomonas)and algae(Chlorella sp.),which confirmed a substantial decrease in the *** continuous column studies were undertaken in the packed bed reactors using *** the optimized conditions,quite high removal efficiency(978±5 mg/g)was obtained in the *** application of GS-FeNi for antibiotic removal was further evaluated in lake water,tap water,and ground water spiked with TC,and the removal capacity achieved was found to be 781±5,712±5,and 687±3 mg/g,*** work can pave the way for treatment of antibiotics and other pollutants in the reactors using novel green composites prepared from fruit wastes.

Static and dynamic properties of both complementary n-Ge/p-Si and p-Ge/n-Si hetero-junction DoubleDrift IMPATT diodes have been investigated by an advanced and realistic computer simulation technique, devel- oped by the authors, for operation in the Ka-, V- and W-band frequencies. The results are further compared with corresponding Si and Ge homo-junction devices. The study shows high values of device efficiency, such as 23%, 22% and 21.5%, for n-Ge/p-Si IMPATTs at the Ka, V and W bands, respectively. The peak device negative con- ductances for n-Si/p-Ge and n-Ge/p-Si hetero-junction devices found to be 50.7× 10^6 S/m^2 and 71.3× 106 S/m^2, which are -3-4 times better than their Si and Ge counterparts at the V-band. The computed values of RF powerdensity for n-Ge/p-Si hetero-junction IMPATTs are 1.0 ×10^9, 1.1 × 10^9 and 1.4× 10^9 W/m^2, respectively, for Ka-, V- and W-band operation, which can be observed to be the highest when compared with Si, Ge and n-Si/p-Ge devices. Both of the hetero-junctions, especially the n-Ge/p-Si hetero-junction diode, can thus become a superior RF-power generator over a wide range of frequencies. The present study will help the device engineers to choose a suitable material pair for the development of high-power MM-wave IMPATT for applications in the civil and defense-related arena.

The excitation function of the 58Ni(n,p)58Co reaction was measured using the well-established neutron activation technique andγ-ray *** in the energy range of 1.7 to 2.7 MeV were generated using the 7Li(p,n)*** neutron flux was measured using the standard 115In(n,n’)115mIn monitor *** results of the neutron spectrum averaged cross-section of 58Ni(n,p)58Co reactions were compared with existing cross-section data available in the EXFOR data library as well as with various evaluated data libraries such as ENDF/B-VIII.0,JEFF-3.3,JENDL-4.0,and *** calculations were performed using the nuclear reaction code *** nuclear level density(NLD)models were tested,and their results were compared with the present *** NLDs were also obtained through the spectral distribution method(SDM).The cross-section results,along with the absolute errors,were obtained by investigating the uncertainty propagation and using the covariance *** forγ-ray true coincidence summing,low-energy background neutrons,andγ-ray self attenuation were *** experimental cross-section obtained in the present study is consistent with previously published experimental data,evaluated libraries,and theoretical calculations carried out using the TALYS code.

A variation model of additive tectonics stress caused by celestial tide-generating force is put forward to explain its relationship with seismic fault sliding. Based on the model, the temperature data from National Center for Environmental Prediction （NCEP） before and after the earthquake in Jiujiang （China） on Nov.26, 2005 are studied. The figure of the temperature variation describes the effect of celestial tide-generating force on fault plane. The variation＇of temperature is not only associated with the seismic deformation but also in step with the evolution of fi＇iction of rock under the stress. The abnormal change of temperature can be used in the studies of short- impending earthquakes.

Early involvement of gut is observed in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and symptoms such as constipation may precede motor symptoms. α-Synuclein pathology is extensively evident in the gut and appears to follow a rostrocaudal gradient. The gut may act as the starting point of PD pathology with spread toward the central nervous system. This spread of the synuclein pathology raises the possibility of prion-like propagation in PD pathogenesis. Recently, the role of gut microbiota in PD pathogenesis has received attention and some phenotypic correlation has also been shown. The extensive involvement of the gut in PD even in its early stages has led to the evaluation of enteric α-synuclein as a possible biomarker of early PD. The clinical manifestations of gastrointestinal dysfunction in PD include malnutrition, oral and dental disorders, sialorrhea, dysphagia, gastroparesis, constipation, and defecatory dysfunction. These conditions are quite distressing for the patients and require relevant investigations and adequate management. Treatment usually involves both pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures. One important aspect of gut dysfunction is its contribution to the clinical fluctuations in PD. Dysphagia and gastroparesis lead to inadequate absorption of oral anti-PD medications. These lead to response fluctuations, particularly delayed-on and no-on, and there is significant relationship between levodopa pharmacokinetics and gastric emptying in patients with PD. Therefore, in such cases, alternative routes of administration or drug delivery systems may be required.
