To analyze the antibacterial activity of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens phage endolysin,nine deletion derivatives of the endolysin were *** deletion mutant was overexpressed,purified and *** catalytic domain was located on the N-terminal region and the C-terminus had an affinity with the bacterial *** enzymatic activity remained in spite of the deletion of the C-terminal 116-amino-acid region;however;the antibacterial activity was lost These results indicate that antibacterial action requires both the C-terminal cell-binding and the N-terminal enzymatic activities.

＜正＞HLBI/5FU combination chemotherapy was used for the treatment of unresectable or recurrent colo-rectal carcinoma. The response rate of this combination treatment was 43％. Therefore, HLBI/5FU combination chemotherapy was tried as adjuvant chemotherapy for the patient with Dukes C colo-rectal carcinoma who had curative resection.

＜正＞Forty five cases of the bowel obstruction due to carcinoma of left side colon and rectum treated by surgery from 1980 to 1998 in our department were analyzed. There were 28 males and 17 females, and mean age 61.6±14.2 years. The obstruction sites were descending colon in 5 cases, sigmoid colon in 29, rectosigmoid colon in 7, rectum above peritoneal reflexion in one and rectum below reflexion in 3. Thirty eight of 45 （84.4％） were resectable but 7 were not resectable. Resection of the carcinoma and primary anastomosis was done in 20 cases （44.4％）, APR

＜正＞ The reuse of high-level design intellectual properties is indispensable to reduce SoC design time. It has been difficult for SoC designers to design and compare two or more SoC architectures in a given product design time. In this paper, we present a synthesis methodology of SoC architectures using Virtual Cores （VCores） to perform architectural explorations in a short period. The proposed synthesis methodology generates an initial architecture, which consists of a CPU, buses, I/Os. etc.. and makes tradeoffs between hardware and software on mapped software VCores and hardware VCores models. The authors show the usefulness of the proposed method from the results of an architecture level design experiment.

Unexpected Occurrence of Fetal Hemophagocytic Syndrome in a Patient with Hereditary Diffuse Leukoencephalopathy with Spheroids

Colony stimulating factor-1 receptor (CSF1R) plays important roles in the differentiation and proliferation of macrophage and microglia in systemic organs and the brain. A genetic defect in CSF1R causes hereditary diffuse leukoencephalopathy with spheroids (HDLS). HDLS mainly affects the cerebral white matter and shows pre-senile cognitive decline, motor disturbance, and epilepsy. However, systemic manifestations outside the brain have not yet been described in patients with HDLS. Here, we report the case of a 41-year-old man with HDLS carrying the p. K793T mutation in CSF1R, who unexpectedly died of sepsis and hemophagocytic syndrome shortly after the onset of HDLS. The fetal sequence of sepsis and hemophagocytic syndrome was triggered by enterocolitis. An autopsy revealed that focal inflammation in the intestine had almost resolved. Most strikingly, massive infiltration of cluster of differentiation (CD) 68- and CD163-immunopositive macrophages with hemophagocytosis was observed in the bone marrow, spleen, and liver. Less abundant infiltration of CD68- and CD204-immunopositive macrophages without hemophagocytosis was also seen in the lung and intestine. At present, the pathogenetic link between CSF1R mutation and hemophagocytic syndrome in this patient is unclear. Our case, however, clearly shows that even in patients with HDLS, aberrant activation of functional macrophages can be induced under certain conditions in visceral organs.
