Additional risk factors associated with thrombosis and pregnancy morbidity in a unique cohort of antiphospholipid antibody-positive patients

We present a method to fabricate handcrafted thermoelectric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin films of Ws_(2),Te,and BP(P-type semiconductors)and Tis_(3)and Tis_(2)(N-type semiconductors),deposited by simply rubbing powder of these materials against *** thermoelectric properties of these semiconducting films revealed maximum seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)mV K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)mV K^(-1)for Ws_(2)and Tis_(3),***,Peltier elements were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and N-type films with graphite electrodes.A thermopower value up to 6.11 mV K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier element were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of semiconducting van der Waals materials in future thermoelectric power generation as well as temperature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.

Gli Autori, in base allo studio di circa 1500 esemplari di specie del genere Antroherpon,forniscono dati corologici su 47 specie e sottospecie appartenenti a questo geuere, con commenti sulladistribuzioue di alcuni taxa e a note sinoimiche sulle grotte di provenienza. Viene inoltre confermata,in base allo studio dell’edeago, la validità specifica di A. subalpinum Jeaunel e sono descritte le seguentispecie e sottospecie nuove: A. brckoensis n. sp., A. elongatum n. sp., A. scutariensis n. sp., A. hoerman-ni hoffmanni n. ssp. e A. scutulatum n. sp. Viene inoltre proposta una sintesi delle attuali conoscenze zoogeografiche sul genere Antroherpon. On the genus Antroherpon Reitter (Coleoptera, Cholevidae, Leptodirinae). Data on thedistribution of 47 species and subspecies of the genus Antroherpon, based on the study of about 1,500specimens, are given. synonymies data on the cave’s names are given also. A. subalpinus Jeannel asa good species is proving, and the following new species and subspecies are described: A. brckoensisn. sp., A. elongatum n. sp., A. scutariensis n. sp., A. hoermanni hoffmanni n. ssp. and A. scutulatum n. sp. some zoogeographical notes on the genus Antroherpon are also given.

Univocal identification of retinal ganglion cells(RGCs) is an essential prerequisite for studying their degeneration and neuroprotection. Before the advent of phenotypic markers, RGCs were normally identified using retrograde tracing of retinorecipient areas. This is an invasive technique, and its use is precluded in higher mammals such as monkeys. In the past decade, several RGC markers have been described. Here, we reviewed and analyzed the specificity of nine markers used to identify all or most RGCs, i.e., pan-RGC markers, in rats, mice, and macaques. The best markers in the three species in terms of specificity, proportion of RGCs labeled, and indicators of viability were BRN3A, expressed by vision-forming RGCs, and RBPMs, expressed by vision-and non-vision-forming RGCs. NeUN, often used to identify RGCs, was expressed by non-RGCs in the ganglion cell layer, and therefore was not RGC-specific. γ-sYN, TUJ1, and NF-L labeled the RGC axons, which impaired the detection of their somas in the central retina but would be good for studying RGC morphology. In rats, TUJ1 and NF-L were also expressed by non-RGCs. BM88, eRRβ,and PGP9.5 are rarely used as markers, but they identified most RGCs in the rats and macaques and eRRβ in mice. However, PGP9.5 was also expressed by non-RGCs in rats and macaques and BM88 and eRRβ were not suitable markers of viability.

Background:New fuid biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease(AD)that reveal synaptic and neural network dysfunc‑tions are needed for clinical practice and therapeutic trial *** core vesicle(DCV)cargos are promising cerebrospinal fuid(CsF)indicators of synaptic failure in AD ***,their value as biomarkers has not yet been ***:Immunoassays were performed to analyze the secretory proteins prohormone convertases PC1/3 and PC2,carboxypeptidase e(CPe),secretogranins sgIII and sgII,and Cystatin C in the cerebral cortex(n=45,provided by Bellvitge University Hospital)and CsF samples(n=66,provided by The sant Pau Initiative on Neurodegeneration cohort)from AD patients(n=56)and age-matched controls(n=55).Results:In AD tissues,most DCV proteins were aberrantly accumulated in dystrophic neurites and activated astro‑cytes,whereas PC1/3,PC2 and CPe were also specifcally accumulated in hippocampal granulovacuolar degeneration *** individuals displayed an overall decline of secretory proteins in the ***,in AD patients,the CsF levels of prohormone convertases strongly correlated inversely with those of neurodegeneration markers and directly with cognitive impairment ***:These results demonstrate marked alterations of neuronal-specifc prohormone convertases in CsF and cortical tissues of AD *** neuronal DCV cargos are biomarker candidates for synaptic dysfunction and neurodegeneration in AD.

In questo lavoro vengono presi in considerazione giacimenti di siderite, ospitati nel servi-no (scitico) della Val Camonica meridionale. Questi corpi, intensamente coltivati in passato, appaionolegati ai livelli carbonatici della serie e sono associati a concentrazioni di barite, sia filoniane, presentianche nel sottostante Verrucano Lombardo (Permiano), sia localmente stratiformi. Viene sottolineatala presenza, nell’area camuna, di zone circoscritte di servino sterile e di servino mineralizzato ed eviden-ziata la correlazione spaziale tra queste e le sottostanti facies permiane, controllate da fattori paleogeogra-fici marcatamente diversi secondo le varie zone. L’avvicinamento attuale di aree cosi dissimili tra loro(sia hello scitico che nel Permiano) viene interpretato come dovuto a cause tettoniche, per sovrascorri-menti e faglie trascorrenti, che possono aver provocato una traslazione anche di parecchi chilometri. strata-bound iron ore-bodies, exploited in the past, are described, in this paper, as linkedwith calcareous levels of the 《servino》 Formation (Lower Triassic) of the Trobiolo Valley (Pisogne, Brescia).This mineralized unit has been compared with other 《servino》 outcrops of the Camonica Valley, whichlack in mineralizations. The collected data point out some thickness differences between the permiansequence below the 《servino》 of these zones. A tectonic approaching of two structural units, testifiedby the presence of the Val Trompia Overthrust, in the eastern zone, and by a new dextral transcurrentfault, crossing the whole area, it’s here *** model could explain the sharp contact between the mineralized 《servino》 and the barren one, asbelonging to different paleogeographic domains and now to different structural units.

Mesenchymal stromal cells are an excellent source of stem cells because they are isolated from adult tissues or perinatal derivatives, avoiding the ethical concerns that encumber embryonic stem cells. In preclinical models, it has been shown that mesenchymal stromal cells have neuroprotective and immunomodulatory properties, both of which are ideal for central nervous system treatment and repair. Here we will review the current literature on mesenchymal stromal cells, focusing on bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells, adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells and mesenchymal stromal cells from the umbilical cord stroma, i.e.,Wharton’s jelly mesenchymal stromal cells. Finally, we will discuss the use of these cells to alleviate retinal ganglion cell degeneration following axonal trauma.

Phytochemical screening, extraction of essential Oils and Antioxidant Activity of Five species of Unconventional Vegetables

Unconventional vegetables, in general, are plants that have been largely consumed by the population at some point and, because of changes in eating behavior, now present reduced economic and social expression and have lost ground to other vegetables. The objectives of this study were to perform phytochemical screening of the ethanol extracts of Rumex acetosa L., Tropaeolum majus L., solanum muricatum, stachys byzantina K. Koch and solanum betaceum Cav. and evaluate their antioxidant potentials via the methods involving scavaging of the DPPH free radical and the ABTs radical, phosphomolybdenum and reducing power. In phytochemical screening, five species of unconventional vegetables tested positive for tannins;for sesquiterpene, lactones and other lactones. These tests were positive for Tropaeolum majus L. and Rumex acetosa L., solanum betaceum Cav. and solanum muricatum tested negative for steroids. Only solanum betaceum Cav. gave positive tests for flavonoids. Among the five plant species studied, stachys byzantina K. Koch presented the greatest antioxidant potential in all the methods evaluated.
