Dengue is amongst the most prevalent viral diseases which globally affects millions of individuals annually and renders billions at risk,particularly in tropical and sub-tropical *** estimated 100-400 mil-lion infections each year and reported 4.2 million active cases in 2019 *** infection is caused by arthropod-transmitted dengue virus which is known to have 5 serotypes(DENV1-5).Most of the cases show mild clinical symptoms;though others may develop severe forms viz;dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock *** limited literature suggests the population-specific genetic influence on susceptibility and the clinical course of dengue;the genetic propensity of dengue is largely unknown in most *** this context,the huma. leukocyte antigen(HLA)system represents the most polymorphic region of the huma. genome and is crucial for the initiation of an appropriate immune *** most of the genome-wide association studies,the HLA complex is the most significantly linked genetic region with susceptibility or protection towards vari-ous infectious and noninfectious *** immunoglobulin-like receptors represent another highly variable system present on the surface of natural killer(NK)cells which regulate the activity of NK cells through inter-actions with their cognate HLA *** is conceivable that the interaction of HLA-Killer immunoglobulin-like receptors systems influences the host susceptibility towards dengue infection as well the disease *** we attempt to review these parameters in dengue infection and disease *** detailed investigations are warranted towards the identification of novel susceptibility markers and targeted therapeutic interventions.

Objective:To determine the phenolic content in Codariocalyx motorius root extract and to evaluate its antioxidant properties using various in vitro assay ***:The antioxidant activity was evaluated based on scavenging of 1,1—diphenyl—2—picrylhydrazyl,hydroxyl radicals,superoxide anions,nitric oxide,hydrogen peroxide,peroxvnilrile,reducing power and by inhibition oi lipid peroxidation which was estimated in terms of thiohurhituric acid reactive ***:The root extract of the Codariocalyx motorius(***) exhibited potent total antioxidant activity that increased with increasing amount of extract concentration,which was compared with standard drug such as *** *** at different *** different concentrations of the extracts showed inhibition on lipid *** addition,the extracts had effective reducing power,free radical scavenging, super oxide anion scavenging,nitric oxide scavenging,lipid peroxidation,and total phenolic content depending on *** correlation between total phenolic contents and scavenging potential of different reactive oxygen species(r^2=0.83 1 -0.978) indicated the polyphenols as the main ***:Codariocalyx motorius(***) root possess the highly active antioxidant substance which can be used for the treatment of oxidative stress-related diseases.

Tuberculosis(TB) is a communicable disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M. tuberculosis). WHO estimated that 10.4 million new(incident) TB cases worldwide in year 2016. The increased prevalence of drug resistant strains and side effects associated with the current anti-tubercular drugs make the treatment options more complicated. Hence, there are necessities to identify new drug candidates to fight against various sub-populations of M. tuberculosis with less or no toxicity/side effects and shorter treatment duration. Bacteriocins produced by lactic acid bacteria(LAB) attract attention of researchers because of its "Generally recognized as safe" status. LAB and its bacteriocins possess an effective antimicrobial activity against various bacteria and fungi. Interestingly bacteriocins such as nisin and lacticin 3147 have shown antimycobacterial activity in vitro. As probiotics, LAB plays a vital role in promoting various health benefits including ability to modulate immune response against various infectious diseases. LAB and its metabolic products activate immune system and thereby limiting the M. tuberculosis pathogenesis. The protein and peptide engineering techniques paved the ways to obtain hybrid bacteriocin derivatives from the known peptide sequence of existing bacteriocin. In this review, we focus on the antimycobacterial property and immunomodulatory role of LAB and its metabolic products. Techniques for large scale synthesis of potential bacteriocin with multifunctional activity and enhanced stability are also discussed.

Mechanical and physical characterization of sodium hydroxide treated Borassus fruit fibers

In order to improve the properties by chemical modification and to optimize the alkali concentration, we treated Borassus fruit fine fibers with aqueous sodium hydroxide solutions of different concentra- tions. In each case, the tensile properties of the fibers were determined. The morphology of the untreated and alkali treated fibers was observed using scanning electron microscope. The surface of the fibers became rough on alkali treatment. The tensile properties of the fibers improved on alkali treatment. The fibers attained maximum tensile properties when treated with 15% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and decreased thereafter. The crystallinity index of the fibers showed a similar trend. The thermal stability of the alkali treated fibers was found to be higher than that of untreated fibers. Further, the char content was maximum for fibers treated with alkali having concentration of 15% and above. The chemical composition indicated that the percentageof a-cellulose was maximum when the fibers were treated with 15% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and then decreased thereafter thus indicating the beginning of degradation of the fibers at higher concentrations. Thus, the optimum concentration of NaOH was established as 15% for alkali treatment of the Borassus fibers.

Exploring the Social Impact of the Short-Stay Market(SSM)in Regional Areas:An Empirical Study

The discourse on microentrepreneurs and their involvement in the short stay market (SSM) was non-existent until 2008. While several concepts and constructs have been developed and empirically tested since 2009, many of them relate to economics, leaving the social, cultural, and environmental factors underdeveloped. Thus, this study aimed to fll the gap and identify and assess the social impact of the short-stay market (SSM) in a regional area. The study included 16 face-to-face interview sessions conducted with 18 participants, and the Leximancer software was employed to analyse the data. The study revealed that the social impact on SSM is not generic, rather pluralistic, multidimensional, and dynamic. The study also found that the limitation clause instituted by the council is a direct disconnect between the council and property owners/managers. Furthermore, despite ample opportunities provided by the short-stay market (SSM) in regional areas, encumbrances cannot be overlooked. Therefore, there is a need for a comprehensive approach to understand the social impact on policy frameworks in regional areas.

Suberin Biopolymer in Rice Root Exodermis Reinforces Preformed Barrier Against Meloidogyne graminicola Infection

Exploration of novel genetic resources against root-knot nematode(RKN)is necessary to strengthen the resistance breeding program in cultivated rice,and investigations on the role of genotype-specific root anatomy in conferring a structural barrier against nematode invasion are largely ***,we reported a highly-resistant rice germplasm Phule Radha that conferred remarkably lower RKN parasitic fitness in terms of reduced penetration and delayed development and reproduction when compared with susceptible cultivar *** histological and biochemical analyses,we demonstrated that an enhanced suberin deposition in the exodermal root tip tissue of Phule Radha compared to PB1121 can effectively form a penetrative barrier against RKN infection,and this preformed barrier in the control tissue did not necessarily alter to a greater extent when challenged with RKN *** qRT-PCR analysis,we showed that a number of suberin biosynthesis genes were greatly expressed in the exodermis of Phule Radha compared to *** sum,the present study established the role of rice exodermal barrier system in defense against an important soil-borne pathogen.
